the idols are definitely middle-eastern and eastern inspired characters! their names are based on hot and cold and represent different climates of the Asian continent! not only that, but one of the new stages to be released has ancient Egyptian themes to it. i love them both a lot but Frye is so cute and energetic and expressive!

Yes! I fully see the Brazilian notes people pick up on but to me Frye is totally Indian Holi festival!! I saw Shiver eastern (Japanese, korean), frye as south Asian (Indian but also Bangladeshi???) and then Big man is absolutely Chinese. Really excited that these idols are themed really well and look so cool!
Ok I’m going to be honest, this direct was absolutely AMAZING 🤩 and I can’t wait to get my hands on this game. The devs definitely put their hearts into this game it seems and I’m just SOLD on buying this game now. Also, about the idols, Big Man is best boy, Shiver is beautiful and already a waifu, and Fyre is… well, I don’t really like her design but her personality is cool.
Lot of great additions like saving load outs, replays, etc. I was kind of hoping for some more ranked/anarchy footage, it's kind of weird they didn't do an overview of each mode just sort of a brief clip of showing each one. Also looks like they didn't add more commands to the d-pad which sucks but oh well. I think there will be a 5th mode added later, I don't believe Clam Blitz was revealed until post-launch, it wasn't in the S2 direct.
I agree the d pad commands would’ve been an extra cherry on top. Something like setting your preferred emote as a taunt for one and then other maybe another directional ? We have “this way” I think something like “hold!” Or defensive would be cool

Something I thought were good. The idols did not (to me) seem to have the same as spunk in splat 1 & 2. The story mode I’m not sure if the new agent is agent3 again maybe I miss heard. But all and all I’m going to love this game.

Even tho Callie and Marie were more Japanese idols they’re also more generic so ppl can identify them better. That and Marina and Pearl were more western so it’s easier for western fans to identify.
I'm so excited for this, also splatoon 2 players have like bonuses which is really nice! ( I only really care about the 3 Sheldon licences when it comes to bonuses)
I really liked the direct and think it all looks really good BUT I can't say I'm anything short of pissed that Wahoo World is coming back. I would have rather seen Moray Towers for a 3rd time. I would have rather we start the game with 11 stages than have the 12th be Wahoo World
