oh, how nothing will ever be able to compare to the beauty of this song.. especially this incredibly raw and intimate version. it makes you feel so much. kelly, what a voice, what a writer. off one of the greatest albums ever created. nothing beats the phonics. i'm just so glad to have them in my life, my all time favourite band.. no matter what happens, i'm just glad to have known about them in this life. thank you.
Agreed. This is song is truly magnificent. The live at Newcastle University performance ( its on TH-cam ) is the best live performance of any song by any band at any gig I've ever been to in my life. Even though it's actually about a specific person who died in a car accident it totally relates to me differently. It reminds me of the last conversation I ever had with my dad just before he passed away. He was pondering whether or not he'd still be sitting there dying if he'd done anything differently or if it was all fate and out of our control. What if he'd quit smoking a year sooner etc? Then we talked about stuff we haven't done in ages and that he never thought or considered that would be the last time he'd ever do it? The lyric " The swings don't swing, the parks been dead for years, how do you know your last swing was your last for good "!!! It was already my favourite song and lyric before this even happened!!!

One of my favourite CD's is the "Local Boy in the Photograph" single. With this song, and an truely amazing cover of "The Last Resort" by The Eagles. That Last Resort cover blew my mind. This ones isn't bad either lol.
Great song. Did I mention that I met Kelly at the last concernt in Stuttgart (germany)? It was my birthday the next day, so he all the rest gave me their autograph on the drum stick I caught after the show:-)!!!
Nice idea but it's actually about a man who died in a car crash, the shaving nick and extra kiss were kinda "what if's". What if he stopped for an extra few seconds because of a shaving nick or stopped to give his wife an extra kiss, would he have still been involved in the accident. But at the end of the day we don't know and "fate" is not up to us
it is with slight shame that i that i have to confess to very much not liking these when they first arrived. i was an oasis man and saw these boys as imposters; it was only after mr writer (i'm a late-comer to any band) that i buzzed and then "discovered" the back-catalogude.. now i see it. every chune.
