Congrats on the position and on the book! I've been following you for a couple of years, and in between I got an SDE role at AWS. I remember learning to "drink from the firehose" was quite an intense challenge to overcome. I remember watching your videos back when you were at Amazon and you mentioned that exact same phrase and oh man, did it make a difference to me. Thank you very very much for the perspective shift you gave me! I was surprised that you mentioned that Google has everything in-house, I thought Amazon was the king of that! Glad to see your videos around again :)
Congratulations! You interviewed me while you were at Meraki a couple of years ago, and I thought you were a great interviewer. I'm at Meta now, glad to know we're work neighbours :)
Hey man, I joined Cisco couple of months ago and told to myself to ping you one day to thank for your work here on the channel. But since you are not there anymore, using this this Google platform to tell you that :))
Cześć Rafał, czy mógłbyś podzielić się Twoim doświadczeniem po 2 latach pracy jako SRE w Google? Jakie są narzędzia, procesy, ich egzekucja w celu osiągnięcia stawianych celi przy skali Googla?
I'm on my last few semesters as a computer scientist and have been applying with no results from any of the maang companies. I built my resume, projects, portfolio site I've been sending recruiters on LinkedIn and nothing, they don't even acknowledge me. 🤦♂️ I mean at least tell me no, it's almost like if I'm talking to fake recruiter accounts with no one on the other side.
I had a friend who was in the same position. Turns out he had a typo in his email in the resume. You're in a tough spot because right now, most companies aren't hiring that much. Especially inexperienced people have it hard. Keep your head up and look for internships and get an interim job in other business. Good luck.
Also working at Google? Drop by and say hi!

Can you share the questions they asked you in each interview?
Is there any discount code for the book?
Hi, do you offer some sort of coaching?
Hi. Not at the moment. I did some experimental sessions, but 1:1 meetings don't scale well enough.
google stopped innovating back in 2012.
🤣
