Billy Crystal was by far the greatest Oscar host of all time. Bring him back.
Not going to happen. Crystal is done with the oscars
Yes Yes and YES!!!!!!!!!
@@mpdalyful1 damn😢😭
@@mpdalyful1 Gee, I wonder why?
Agreed!
The good old days when the Oscars had a host. Bring back Billy for his 10th time.
she never liked me, she was ordered to hurt me
I have it thought through now.... it was a murder attempt disguised as verarsche-...... great work i truly deserved thuis.... after having been abused locally over here.... already by stefania, with her big oger body, emotionally toyed and abused mentally..... I truy deserved it......
They don't deserve him know.
It isn't just a host. It is having a good host and who doesn't insult everybody but celebrates the movies.
@@charlesallen4821 Agree but it must start with a host.
@@lionelraoul I don't know. I don't want a bad one.
No bullshit, but Crystal just knows how to command a room. A requirement for any host.
Damn right
Billy Crystal: one of my favorite Oscar hosts of all-time; the first of 9 Oscar telecasts he hosted!
Love Bill!
Billy Crystal would go on to have the second-most Oscar telecasts behind the late Bob Hope.
the only one host that really makes me enjoy the Oscars. He doesn't have a match. I miss him a lot
6:24-8:18, Billy Crystal begins his signature tradition of opening every Oscar telecast with an Oscar medley!
He always starts with Its a wonderful day for oscars
Billy Crystal is handsome, sharp, funny, quick and doesn’t offend! Bring him back. Please. One more time!
The best most unique and stimulating part of the Oscars? Mr Crystal. He defines iconic.
The Gorbachev joke was really funny. I was born in '92 and glad to find clips like this.
Billy's the best host. He should be doing it every year.
Bob hope was the best. All following hosts learned from him. Billy is the 2nd best, he was really entertaining as a host in the 90's
I see why you would say that but I have to disagree. Mostly because I've never been a fan of Bob Hope.
To me billy crystal is far funnier Without being so Polished and teleprompter dependent.
Crystal is quicker, far more witty and tons more heart.
Thumbs up if you think he should host at least 1 more time!
Clayton Baker yes, one more
+Clayton Baker yrp
Yeah no.
In 2021, I vote NO because he's too good for the last 15 years of Hollywood crap!
@@geoprof6993 Please, he;s the only one who could save it!
This is so amazing because just a few evenings ago, I was viewing "Driving Miss. Daisy" on dvd. And then, I turn on TH-cam, and it picks this clip for me. I play it. And there is the great Jessica Tandy is full view. I miss her greatly. She is one of the greatest movie actress of our time. They don't make it like that anymore. R.I.P., Miss. Tandy.
Billy Crystal was the “BEST” host ever!!!
Man, he was just amazing. He had the perfect ability to tell a mix of inside-industry jabs and more general audience jokes. And almost all of them got huge laughs. His last few hosting stints were not the best but it's ok because he had some truly classic turns in the 90s.
BILLY, COME BAAAAAACK!!!
When he referenced the berlin wall and nelson mandela, I felt like a tiny child because that was all stuff I only heard or read about in my history books....
Crystal is pure talent...
Close your eyes and imagine Mike from Monsters Inc doing the monologue in a bowtie.
funny how the meryl streep joke was a joke back then just as it is today at almost every award show. merly is the best
Roman Randhahn LOL I so agree! I wasnt even born that year lol....I was quite shocked that back then Meryl Streep was already a joke about being nominated at the Oscars all the time lol. I love Meryl the Queen so much
Roman Randhahn that's exactly what I was thinking, it shows that 25 years ago Meryl Streep was already on the way of being the legend she is today
oh Meryl that thought Harvey Weinstein is her god and applauded for roman Polanski lololol your comment only 3 years old? sheesh
Roman R I loved this too. 30 years later and this joke is still relevant. Meryl is simply one of the greatest of all time - a treasure and a gift.
It's been 21 years and I'm STILL irritated that "Do the Right Thing" wasn't nominated for Best Picture.
I'm irritated by your comment
Wow , thirty two years ago this aired and it was a time I still watched the Oscars . Crystal was great as the last of the real stars no Will Smiths slapping the host and cursing out loud shows no class . I had to go back in time to laugh and admire class acts .
And no Jimmy Kimmel!
Billy Crystal....the greatest Oscar host of all time.
Best Oscars host ever!!!!!!
I miss Billy
You know when its Meryl Streep because even back in the 90s she was already the joke about always being nominated and winning awards.. Love that Brilliant woman shes the best!
The best, Billy.
Thanks
Gotta love Billy Crystal.
“Shirley McClaine who is 915 I believe” 😂😂
Honey I shrunk the party lmao
This was the first of 9 Oscar telecasts Billy Crystal would host, second to the late Bob Hope, who hosted 22 telecasts.
ah, the sheer love of seeing Billy Crystal hosting the Oscars makes my smile broad and my heart light and giddy.
Can't help but smile..every time he sings 😇
The best and the only one who keeps the Oscars alive. I don’t watch it anymore, it’s crap. For Billy to stand up there without q cards. Unique the one and only Billy Crystal.
Especially when you figure one of the hosts this year is...Amy Schumer!
someone needs to upload the whole show especially oscar 1989 and 1993
"and Meryl Streep wouldn't be nominated for an Academy award"
Very surprising indeed!
Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg are my favorite Oscar hosts.
And Anne Hathaway is Izzy's favorite Oscar host!
I love that Billy does a parody of the awful Snow White number just to make fun of that idea... and it ends up basically becoming his signature every time he hosts the show
Bob Hope, Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal...the perfect Oscar hosts! Some others do OK, but pale in comparison. Those 3 in their individual, but multiple hosting gigs helped you forget how tediously lengthy the awards ceremony could be with their sharp wits.
4:06, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, who were married at the time and had two adopted children!
This was one of my favorite years!!!! SO many wonderful movies were nominated
woo! I was so little when this aired...but to this day I will randomly sing "me and my left foot" just out of no where...that one little part...and then I start thinking about In Living Color My Left Foot of Fury. Finally saw the actual movie My Left Foot, in Highschool. It was soooo inspiring. Like, if you wanna do art or some kinda hobby but suck at first, think of this dude, who used his friggin TOES to paint! You gotta try and not give up!
he is the best and i can't wait to see him this time

5:00, an Australian no longer owns 20th Century Fox; 20th Century Fox is now owned by Disney and is now known as 20th Century Studios, with the Fox name and branding now owned by Fox Corporation, ending an 85-year relationship between 20th Century-Fox!
we're always in good hands with billy hosting
he never would have joked about polanski like steve martin did
They should have an Oscar for best host cuz Billy Crystal would have all of them! Great host! Best host ever! 🙏🙌🤗💙💜
I love Billy Crystal, however I think both Bob Hope and Johnny Carson was if not equally as good at least a great second.
Was that Robin Williams' ''ho ho!'' laugh I heard at around 4:18?
Good ear! I didn't notice it until you pointed it out and I'd bet you're correct.
Rodney Dangerfield perhaps
actually 04:19
4:08 Nicole, the frizz days. However her face looks exactly the same 26 years later🤔
It doesn't 😂
Who else is here, trying not to think about the pandemic or that Big Bag of Wind tRump and enjoying bingeing all of Crystal's Oscar monologues? (I started with 1993)
The first time that Billy Crystal performed his Oscars Medley to the audiences in the year 1990.
4:45 A story about Mikhail Gorbachev: Honey i shrunk the Party.
He's funny.
Ellen is gret, but Billy is a GENIUS.
1962HILTON Ellen is utter rubbish.
Ellen is nowhere near GREAT
Ellen is terrible and compared to Billy she is nowhere.
You mean “Dory is great, but Mike Wazowski is a GENIUS.”
This is great quality! Most of the other ones are all grainy and near fuzzy but this is good stuff! You should upload more of these - like NickDGass said!!!
Best Oscar host EVER!
He’s so at ease on the stage giving his monologue.
Billy Crystal = genious... = pure talent! funny too
5:00-5:25, Billy Crystal mentioning an Australian (now 21st Century Fox) owning 20th Century Fox, an Italian owning MGM and a Japanese company (Sony) owning Columbia Pictures.
and now Disney owns everything
Even in 1990 they were joking about Meryl Streep being always nominated 🤣
The Jack Nicholson jokes were great!
Interesting that the Berlin wall fell and Nelson Mandela was released that year. Videos are truly a wonderful invention. Imagine if we had video records from the ancient Egyptian, Roman's and Greeks that would have been awesome
5:48-6:01, Billy Crystal delivering a Godzilla joke!
Billy Crystal: Great entertainer!!
Billy should come back. I wonder if Facebook can influence him into doing it again? It'd be great
if i only saw morgan freeman id think it was from this year.. hes always looked 60
the greatest man alive!
Best host!!
This is the only thing I watch and enjoy by Billy Crystal.
Billy Crystal, musical director Bill Conti, set designer Roy Christopher and producer Gilbert "Gil" Cates: The Academy Awards' version of The Four Horsemen! WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
+Dana Long Add in then-director Jeff Margolis, and you would've had the Fab Five.
As well as writer Bruce Vilanch and announcers Les Marshak and the late Charlie O'Donnell and you have the elite eight!
And don't forget another legendary set designer Ray Klausen and lighting designer Bob Dickinson.
M1995C I know you commented on this 3 years ago, but the joke is in reference to the fact that Driving Miss Daisy was nominated for 9 Oscars and wasn't nominated for Best Director.
Thank you. I was curious about that
+Molly Heron Delaney This comment is EXACTLY why I was reading the comment section. Totally didn't get the joke.
Well good thing about TH-cam is you don’t necessarily need to built a time machine to relieve these moments
You can watch these moments countless times
I was 13 years old then and thought Billy crystal was the best host ever at the Oscar’s ceremony
34 years later I still believe that so 😊
Nothing can beat the 1990s Oscar’s and movies
Bill is amazing
Legendary!!!
I was 13 then saw some of the films on the big screen
Brings memories
A time when celebrities in Hollywood still had their mystique. Social media was not around and the Berlin wall came down. Who would have thought that in 2019 , celebrities would have lost all mystery and social media would consume many poor souls and we would be in favor of a huge wall ourselves ?
I still watch it in 2018...😂😂
2024 here 😊
Parental Guidance was actually not as bad compared to some of the other really bad family movies.
I actually liked that movie. Billy and Bette Midler worked well together.
Billy always knew how to tease without insulting because he loved and respected his fellow actors. Today's presenters don't have that orientation and often make embarrassing remarks that are somewhat humiliating to the poor victim who sits cringing in their seat.
My Top 10 Oscar set designers of all-time:
10. Alexander Golitzen
9. Bob Keene
8. Andre Michael "Rene" Lagler
7. Derek McLane
6. Steve Bass
5. John F. DeCuir, Sr.
4. David Rockwell
3. J. Michael Riva
2. James Trittipo
1. Ray Klausen and Roy Christopher (tie)
Billy Crystal is amazing. In this day in age he couldn’t say this fork if humor without someone trying to sue him.
Any chance of finding anywhere a good quality version of the 1990 Oscars opening montage "100 years at the movies"? Please help. It was the best ever.
5:30 pure genius
Hollywood will never be what it was like the 80s and 90s. Now Hollywood and the Oscars are Power of the Dog Sht. Hollywood and the oscars lost its charm, humor, good movies, good comedic hosts. Absolutely sad and pathetic what it’s become.
thanks for all of these. I wish you could also post the montages :D
The Oscars are cringe, but Billy Crystal is funny.
The greatest host of the oscars ever including Hope. He set the bar too high.
oh damnnn the Berlin wall?!! o__O time rly is different...but meryl streep never changes haha
Now this guy is the definition of funny at the oscars
1990 self: oh Tom and Nicole sat near the front
2023 self: Tom did not show up in spite of nomination because he did not want to run into Nicole.
Aw, I love Jessica Tandy.
Only the japanese jokes didn't age well at all, the rest is pure GOLD.
Billy is God!! This is hands down the greatest monologue in the history of the Oscars!!! No ifs, ands, or buts!!!!!!
I remember watching this live with my folks
mike wozozki
Aw! What guy! I have a thought and though I love Amy? I have real reluctance to watch her at the Big Show. Love Wanda and Regina. Maybe insert Ricky Gervais or Bon Jung Ho for upbeat international flair?
can anyone help with the lyrics?

Bring back Mr. Oscar ... Billy Crystal
I know, it was a joke.
"Freeman makes light of death rumour" on Yahoo
Hugh Jackman's opening is still my favourite but this was pretty good too. :)
Every year he said you wouldn't see the medley, people clapped, then he did it. Wonder how many really didn't want it?
Ah, I'm so old....I saw this when it originally aired. 😭😂
The Art Buchwald joke at 3:40 was in reference to a lawsuit Buchwald filed earlier in 1988 claiming Paramount Pictures stole his idea for Eddie Murphy's Coming To America.
