    What’s really surprising is that some US banks still use SMS as their two factor authentication.

      Sadly it's not surprising and is the main reason it's so simple and lucrative to be a bad actor anymore.

    I may sound a bit thick, but how do you get two step verification to work with the key??

  • @MetrologyEngineer
    @MetrologyEngineer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have a Yubico key that's just the "regular" full sized USB (USB Type-A). I got it because since I planned on using it regularly for my desktop computer and the the irregular occasion I needed to use it on a USB C device or something with a Lightning connector I could adapt it.

    Have you been able to get NFC to work while having the Yubikey in your Orbitkey?

    • @nitishmanovha
      @nitishmanovha ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesnt work with nfc, the metal from the keys/screws interacts with the NFC. Shame it can't work on an IPhone without removing the YubiKey from the OrbitKey

    • @KaranRajpal
      @KaranRajpal 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I'm having the same issue as well. I try to keep it towards the end of the Orbitkey but even then, I have to angle the Yubikey awkwardly to make it work with NFC. Trying to find an alternative way to carry this to make it more useful.

    I bought aYubikey 5C NFC some time ago but felt overwhelmed by the technical....Is there any way to get step by step for using it on a samsung galaxy and setting up some support about the appropriate back up device I should order? I wouls pay for help time! ??

    Great explanation. Thanks. Can’t someone “steal” a nfc code if we carry around in pocket??

  • @conundrumschronicles

    While Sim cloning is possible its actually quite difficult. The carriers have systems set up to detect an ICCID number being used on multiple devices at the same time.

    • @coolcat5481
      @coolcat5481 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hacker plays a video of crying baby in the background. Calls your carrier. Uses sociotechniques + pressure (parent with wailing baby) + scraped data to gain access to your account. Gets sim card reissued.
      Millions have been stolen this way

      It’s best to have two yubikeys. One to carry and one in a completely safe place. Don’t have any affiliation with them, use them at work a few years.

    You didn’t mention though that if it is in contact with metal, your Yubikey NFC won’t work. Bought both Yubikey & Orbitkey because of this video. Obviously, keys including the Yubikey is compact inside this Orbitkey.
