Good morning, good morning Matt from Under the Surface! More wonderful paintings done by your Dad. The poem went great with your Dad’s painting. Love all your presentations. The bullets in that shot glass, the shelf of finds displayed. May I ask, is Katie your Mrs.? She knew about spoons. Lol. Great video as always, my best to everyone, have a great week. Joyce ❤️🇺🇸🙏
Hi Joyce!!!!, good morning!!, thanks for catching the poem/painting symbolism. That painting is “Rich” a homeless man I have befriended by one of my local spots, that my dad asked permission from to do the painting. Katie Is my Mrs. , yes, (with a lot of patience, lol). Be well my friend.
@@underthesurface4435 Very cool Rich is a real person. Tell Katie I said hello and she has a wonderful family. God bless her for her patience. It is a virtue. One I still work on every day. Oh my goodness….that blue marble!!! Gorgeous! I loved all your glass finds, and that lid with a knob on the top would make an amazing light display with the light refracting from the different cut shelves and central knob. "Can't all be perfect" but the bits and bobs you find each week are awesome! Thank you for sharing the historical importance of every day life from long ago with us all! Stay well and warm out there!
Good Day to You! Matt, could the lens be from a monocular, commonly used on boats and ships? A little history about where the term "shot glass" originated .... During the gold rush era, when a minor was in-between gold finds, down on his luck and had nothing left to trade, he would offer a single bullet to the bar keep in exchange for a swallow of whiskey, thus the name "shot", then they needed the "shot glass", made well tempered and extra thick based to avoid breakage when it was slammed down on the bar. Until then I'm thinkin' the smallest drinking glass would probably have been a cordial glass. Thought you would enjoy that historical fun fact. Yours was most likely tossed out during prohibition and bashed between rocks in the waterways or perhaps purposefully smashed and or melted in a dump fire. Matt, Thank You for sharing yet more of your Dad's Inspiring Artwork. The "calmness and simplicity" your Dad's work evokes, reminds me of Norman Rockwell's work, representative of the simpler, happier times that he (longed for). He painted what he wanted life to be like, not what it was.
Good day to you!!! Fantastic info on the shot glass, I just accidentally (although historically correct) placed the bullets in it . I will pass on your mention of Rockwell to my Dad, he will love hearing that. Be well my friend.
