This OST song was originally performed by Jehwi for a drama IU starred in, "My Mister". IU wrote the lyrics for the song and then performed her own version live.

IU shared that her favorite line is 4:13 but it seems like there's a difference in translation compared to how it was translated when she explained..it was
'So unreachable, deep into the night
The silence of the white moonlight'
She said that the kind of emotions she had when she wrote the lyrics were:
'..even in the deepest corners, even where there are shadows, please be fair and shine some light here'
and;
'I'm buried all the way down here but please reach me with your light'
She also said that Jehwi, the singer who sang it, expressed the 'desperation for the light' well for that line so she really liked it.
IU said that in the drama 'My Mister', she often takes her grandmother to see the moon (but Jian, herself, dont look at it) where it symbolizes that the moon and its moonlight seems to be her grandmother's source of hope in the dark while for Jian, her moon, who managed to bring light to her life, is Dong-hoon.

This song is always gonna be my favorite song from her. The lyrics are so deep and metaphorical, make me think of life and existence whenever I listen to it. I've always been so grateful for the poetic songs she makes but this one really hits hard. I know she had gone through some real tough situations in her childhood also in her adulthood, I can feel her pain, and pain is indeed needed for art. That's why nowadays so many self writing idols or global artists lack this sense of poetry/literature because they probably haven't seen or been exposed to painful experiences enough in their lives unlike IU.
