  • “Rishi Sunak is not stupid. He knows his party's in trouble. I think he must know, deep in his soul that he will not be prime minister a week after the next general election.”
    Rishi Sunak knows the possibility of a hung parliament is “nonsense”, says former president of YouGov Peter Kellner.

      What turnout does it predict? A massive Labour majority is just as effective in Parliament whether it's achieved on a 80% turnout. But what it means in terms of electoral endorsement is very different.

      Isn't Nadhim Zahawi the owner of YouGov? I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but it sounds like a expectation-management psy ops thing. Tell the public we'll get no seats and 1) scare more right-leaning people into voting for us 2) ensure less people vote Labour out of over-confidence 3) claim we performed better than the nay-sayers had predicted. It's a win-win.

    • @Pegaroo_
      @Pegaroo_ 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@georgesdelatour why? If the people who would normally vote Tory don't bother to go and vote then yes turnout is going to be lower but just because some people who know their vote won't make a difference couldn't be arsed to go and vote against them doesn't mean Labour would have less of a mandate

    • @georgesdelatour
      @georgesdelatour 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Pegaroo_ Labour’s proposed “New Britain Constitution” represents a massive change in the way we’re governed. Don’t you agree? Personally I think that such extreme constitutional changes should be put to the voters in a Referendum. Even if you disagree with me on that, I think a Labour victory on a low turnout is less of a mandate for such changes than a Labour victory on a high turnout.
      For me, constitutional changes are fundamentally different from policy changes. If Keir Starmer wins on even a modest turnout and the decides to nationalise 100% of the UK economy, I will support his right to do it, because I’d know people could always vote him out and reverse the policy at the next election if they don’t like how it turns out. But Starmer’s proposed constitutional changes are intended to make it impossible for any future government, of left or right, of even 100% popularity, to undo Blairism.

    Sunak has already planned, packed & bought the tickets for his move to Los Angeles.
    He's earning extra spends at the moment.
    Wouldn't be surprised (or more hope) he'll go sooner than later and the Tories take on a 'caretaker leader', with the cabinet making any policies, decisions the country needs.
    Then behind the said caretaker show unity.
    They expect to be the opposition, they can take a vote from their members, Parliamentary Conservative Party, et al, install their leader of the opposition - they can then lick their wounds, and get into opposition for 12 years (at least, I hope).
    I'm going to hire the 'Laughing Clown' from Blackpool fairground & drive round Conservative HQ with the volume on 11.
    Giving out glasses of Champagne, party hats, squeeky blowers, confetti as the votes come in, we see some big hitters losing their seats!
    Going to be a good party.🎉🎉🎉

    Professor. If anything the problem is that doing things in haste. Is that these who doesn't think often don't engage sense. I had that choice back in 2019 and made a mistake back then and now I recall it only too well! I realised my mind in June of that year and heard the sermon of the then Dean of Wells Cathedral on the subject of lack of depth I listened and heard in time! I saw sense - most of the Conservative Party has thrown reason out the window now! Most of them are truly idiotic !

    UK have been my home since 2006, I’ve always worked hard, never claimed a single benefit and no I wasn’t sending my money “back home”.
    I was always intending on living here a normal life, be social, go on holidays, support local businesses, etc.
    But for the last few years (since Brexit really) I can notice a massive decline in standards across the board.
    Your politicians are really turning UK into a 3rd world country, so I think I will change my plans and use my EU passport to move to a country were politicians aren’t brain dead, were you don’t have to wait for months to see a doctor\specialist, or pay criminal amounts for 2.5 bed rent\mortgage - no a walk in closet is not a bedroom.
    Good luck Brits you’re going to need it, then again you have voted for it so take the responsibility.
