BEING GIDON KREMER: The Rise and Fall of the Classical Musician
Written by: Kremer, Igudesman & Joo
Distribution strategy & marketing: Veritone Records
Without music life would be a mistake.
Friedrich Nietzsche
Dear Concertgoer!
Music and humor-both are languages of the emotions. Join us on a journey through our wacky hall of mirrors and see for yourself all the weird and wonderful ways these two languages come together to reflect the Zeitgeist of the new millennium.
We live in an age in which the market economy tyrannizes over art. The quality of an artwork is judged by the quantity of sales. We all squint at the sales-volume statistics, the chart placement and the commercial media presence. The more popular, the better. Everyone wants to be a superstar!
But in consequence, we all too often lose sight of the true meaning of music: the uplifting union of feeling and intellect, the intimate and profoundly emotional expression of the soul.
BEING GIDON KREMER takes a critical and entertaining look at classical music through a magnifying glass. By means of this close-up, we hope to achieve a healthy distance from all forms of commercial dumbing-down.
So lets laugh together about whats laughable, and marvel afresh at musics endless marvels!
We wish you a wonderful musical journey!
We, meaning Gidon Kremer and the Kremerata Baltica, Aleksey Igudesman and Richard Hyung-ki Joo.
Music in its most beautiful form is the all-healing language of love.
Richard Wagner

Liastnir you're most welcome :)
+Ezio Auditore THANKS ALOT! by the way, which Paganini concerto did they play?
+Paulina Tjandra paganini concerto no 1 1st movement
This is so hard to do. They have to count measures of rest. They have to play a ton of things.
This is sooooo difficult to perform.... and they are doing it LIVE!!!! My respects... hats off....
I wonder how their score looks like towards the end. HAHAHAHA XD
0:54 LMAO that was genius
wow im glad they're stil playing!!! i remember them watching them as they entertained people in some warehouse lol now they're big show haha still love to watch them.
This just shows that you can still have fun at a classical concert and that its not all stiff and rigid and upper-class like some might think. I really enjoyed that.. Id love to see more of that as well :)
0:55 a one man playing violin as rock lmao 😂🤟🔥
Absolutely the most amazing performance! musically and comically, the best. Bravo to Joo and Igudesman and the amazing orchestra.
This is fricking amazing.
The first piece is Bach's Concerto in A minor for Violin and 2:02 is the part of the Violin Concerto by Alban Berg.
Now THAT is some skill, to switch between all those songs, tempos, keys like they did
starting with the mute section at 2:13 just wow
~~ The person who shared this with me is my Libyan friend~ this has uplifted him & his family and for this a am grateful~~in Peace, with Love and Compassion~~
These guys are wonderful! Humor and music!! Gotta love it!
Genius greetings from Chile My Friends
they really picked the hardest shit to play in this piece, hats off to them
Did anyone else see that violinist crack a smile near the beginning? I'm suprised the orchestra could keep it together. That would have been a great gig.
Due pazzi scatenati alle prese con la musica classica! Mitici!
For everyone who is asking @1:17 is from Brahms Violin Concerto, p.1
I think that this Is Ingenious to add comedy to an environment that Is known to be alittle "stuffy" as a classical/concert musician myself I love to see stuff like this!
the Comedy is genius :)
I saw the show last year at Birgitta Festival in Estonia. It was fantastic!
Funny to see that Kremer is still open for new things :D That's why I love him
Great! Kremerata Baltica is one of the best ensemble of ever! Their common and perfectly teamed spirit is always palpable when you have the luck to listen to a concert played from them. Thank you!
The Mendelssohn piece at 1:11 was quoted in Bernstein's opera "A Quiet Place"!
oh god this is awesome improvisation . diffidently worth taking a break from study well worth it. became a fan over theirs in seconds and i'm a sucker for classical music so that was plus.
This must be so difficult for the musians. It is so FANTASTIC
Magnifique performance ...Bravo ! bravo ! Michèle
Seriously... how can someone ever dislike this??
composing all that is such short intervals is nothing short but amazing lol
Its Berg's Violin Concerto that they played. And he was a fine composer. I also have a lawn mower for sale if anyone wants one. $100. It has 4 gears and a very nice seat.

Hi there. They're basically hopping around among the major violin concerti!
1:00 - 3rd mvt. of Beethoven Violin Concerto D Maj.
then Brahms Violin Conc. 1st & 3rd mvt.
1:36 - Mozart's 3rd Conc. (G Maj) - 1st mvt.
Paganini D Maj. Conc. - 1st mvt.
2:04 - Bach's 1st Conc. in A min. - 1st.
then a mix of the Berg Conc. and others (as the two men announce)
2:18 -- ?? I'd take the word of the guy above who said it was the Bond theme! :)
It's a GREAT video - wonderful soloist and orchestra!!
this is why i love the internet. Random funny stuff like this.
Love love love love love!
I'm an accompanist and have played most of them with violinists! :)
It's also BWV 1058, a keyboard concerto in G minor. Same theme, different instrumentation and key.
Bach had a confusing habit of republishing his works. Brandenburg Concerto no.4 is also his Keyboard Concero no.6.
@silentfury214 It's the virtuoso's grand entrance in his violin concerto. There's about two minutes of material for full orchestra before the vioinist's defiant entrance.
Thank You.
Fantastic video !!!! Thanks MahayaX for the share !!!!
Utter, sheer brilliance. Musical genius. Wow.
That orchestra is amazing.
i like the girl in the back 0:33 she looks like she's having fun where as other orchestra members i've seen look like they're being tortured..
When you read "Gidon Kremer" and "Kremerata Baltica" you understand: they're top notch when it's time for both contemporary or mainstream performance.
Serach for "Pēteris Vasks - Voices" and you'll agree.
2:04 is Violin Concerto No.1 in A Minor BWV 1041 , Bach. But they play it faster than it really is :X
And 2:18-2:22 is the theme of James Bond.
I really liked your video. Great stuff! Thanks for posting.
muito bom de verdade!!!
très très très bien! je suis completement surpris.
perfect!!!
this is absolutely unbelievable!!! how can they change from one concerto to another so fast? and the transition is so smooth!!
Of the one I know off the top of my head: the Mendelssohn violin concerto, movements 1 and 2.
-Beethoven's Romance in F
-Brahms violin concerto, movements 1 and 3
-Mozart violin concerto 3 or 5, not sure
-Spring from Vivald's Four Season's, mvmt. 1
-Berg violin concerto
This Is genius! It is so funny! It is great the way they make classical music humorous without ruining it! The sheet music to this must have looked hilarius!
wow , just ,,,,, wow
can't imagine the rehearsals were like
but honestly ,,,, braro 🙏🏻
it's also in the riverdancing violinist the second sheet that joo puts in the pile...
Thanks !!!!

tks fernanda for sharing,,,,belllissimo e originale video,,,,,,,,,5 *****
Beyond Awesome!! And First Class!! From creativity through capacity unto execution and excellent humor!!!
Cheers to the orchestra and violinist for working through that one!
thank you very much!
@AmoreJess
Let us agree, the Alban Berg Concerto begins the minute 1:49, then (1:58) Spring Concert (A. Vivaldi), 2:01 minutes into the concert again Berg and after (2 : 04) The 1st movement of Concerto in A minor, I think now is better understood, it is an agreement?
Marvellous!
As far as I know, they do it themselves (meaning Igudesman & Joo, the two funny musicians acting here)
HAHAHA!!! Loved it! Igudesman and Joo are hilarious!!! This is probably my favorite act of theirs!!
You have to see THE FASTEST PIANO PLAYING IN THE WORLD!! an amazing girl playing piano, STUNNING!! really crazy version of the Flight of the Bumble Bee, she's on my playilst.
absolutely brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My all times favorite, still after all these years😄
Wow that's some pretty skillful transitions.
lol! i loved this!
and it must have been hard on the orchestra. having to switch back and forth to different pieces. wish i could do that. loved this vid.
ja ja jaaaa....son geniales, talentosos...!!!!
Igudesman and Joo didn’t even need to practice for this segment at al!!
Wow! That is amazing! Thank you, guys!
this is really cool..my orchestra played something similar to this. it's the same concept just different music and different humorous acts
the orchestra is awesome!
Definitely see them live. I did and they were fantastic!
THATS LITERALLY WAT IT SOUNDS LIKE WHEN YOU FAST FORWARD
Fabulous fun, and fabulous playing, too!
Wish i could hear them live..
It's awsome, is really hard not to like it, even if you don't like classical music.
Lol amazing how they can transition between songs so quickly and it flows so nicely
@Obleiron... This is the third movement of the Brahms' violin concerto!
Génial!
thanks a lot!
the four sesions on 1:46 (supose "spring" :D)
and on 2:04 it's Bach - Violin Concerto No.1 in A Minor BWV 1041 - 1/3
BIG RESPECT for those guys,peace!
@silharima I heartily concur. To be able pull that off as effectively and effortlessly as they do is nothing short of amazing. Such skill and precision. ^_^
