How are people criticizing this movie? I thought it was delightful and really fun to watch. I especially loved the songs in this movie, including this one.
I didnt liked that her parents seperated feeled sorry for her but IT was clear they argued in moster Form and Had seperated cages aswell so seperated Houses make Sense
I will watch anything and everything that Rachel Zegler stars in for the rest of her career because she is brilliant, beautiful, talented, and intelligent. Additionally, Rachel is an amazing role model who is always on the right side of history. I am proud to support her by being a Zeglian and I will happily watch everything she ever stars in for the rest of her career which will last her entire life just for her because she is talented, intelligent, selfless, empathetic, and beautiful in every way possible. The world needs more people like Rachel Zegler because it is people/heroes like her who make the world a better place for everyone.
I don't get why I see people saying this movie's predictable or cookie cutter. Maybe it's because I didn't see much promotional material before seeing it, nor did I know it was supposed to be about divorce, but it wasn't predictable for me. The ending was actually surprising to me. Half the time I was wrong to where the story was going, and unlike Disney's Wish where I was confused and largely emotionless the whole time, Skydance's Spellbound took me on an emotional roller-coaster, especially during The Way it Was Before and Remembering. And the songs are not all the same; I don't get why critics are saying that? This movie is literally what I've been craving from Disney for years.
The entire movie used songs in most places, which made me very bored while explaining the movie, but the movie is actually very beautiful. I laughed so hard at Flink's scene when he was attacked by another Flinks and had to eat their dirty food.
Okay, I'll give my thoughts on the film since everyone else is doing this. I thought this was good but not great. It starts off average, and yeah, the main character singing to the audience was a little off-putting, but it got progressively better as it went along. At the very least, it does seem like now that former Disney employees are working for Skydance, they're slowly getting better. Though I find it kinda funny people are calling this predictable, but can anyone honestly say they went into this knowing it would be about divorce and actually end with the parents actually being divorced and it being seen as perfectly okay? (Though I have to admit, I would have liked it a little bit better if they had remained as monsters at the end. I actually thought it was going in that direction) It's like when people called Monsters University 100% predictable, like they somehow went into it knowing it would end with Mike and Sully being kicked out of MU. Seriously. And even then, it's obvious what the people are Skydance are doing here. They're following in the footsteps of Tangled, Frozen and Moana and giving audiences a classic style fairy tale film, and while it could have been executed better, it was at least enjoyable. Plus you gotta admit, Alan Menken brought his A-game to this score. There were moments where the background melodies often reminded me of The Little Mermaid. As for one complaint I saw about every animated fairy tale female lead being the same, I'm assuming that was alluding to the whole' adorkable' criticism that's been thrown around a lot lately. First off, I can only name four recent female Disney leads since Tangled who really fall under that category (Moana doesn't act like that nearly often enough for her to count, not to mention I said female leads since Mirabel's not a princess), but even then, is it really such a bad thing to give audiences princesses who act more like actual teenagers? On a side note, has everyone forgotten that Ariel was the original adorkable princess? This isn't as new as you guys think it is.
After Moana 2 disney should reboot Thumbelina 1994 in CGI animation with sabrina carpenter as the voice of thumbelina and with Alex Aiono as the voice of prince cornelius with Alan Menken and Barry Manilow to compose the new music and songs✨🧚♀🌱🌷🎵
This is a good kids movie honestly most kids movies are good because they focus on fun stories and beautiful visuals instead of dark and depressing stories about morally gray people
Yeah this is ok. It’s beautifully animated, but in terms of its message, it leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination. Like this isn’t a movie about a princess who happens to have separated parents - it’s literally the entire plot of the movie. There are no surprises - and I would venture to say predictable disappointments. Idk why all modern animation from the big companies have to frame their movies the exact same way - not to mention, all the Disney or disneyesque princesses have been the same since Rapunzel.
@CoachCarter94 they're only the same if you prejudge them they're are differences if you watch long enough as for spellbound the twist is the family accenting that the marriage was over a cliche story would have been the light makes the parents fall in love all over again and they all live happily ever after this is honestly the first time a princess movie shows a divorce family at least it's the first I've ever seen and it plays it simply because the message is the important part that it's better to accept the truth then stick with something that's not working that a family is still a family even if separated. It's a story that more kids need to hear, most of the town divorce in kids media is show pretty bad the parents fight constantly the kids are miserable it's like the shows saying it's better to stay in a loveless marriage but spellbound tells the honestly truth that while it's hard divorce can save a family and make it stronger
Honestly tho this whole movie has Disney’s writers all over it - just without the Disney name. Same with Sea Beast. But imo that movie was a lot better than this one

They're mad because their childhood trauma relating to their parents divorce is being exposed

You poor unfortunate soul.
With all the bad publicity involving Snow White I am pleased to see that she in fact can act.

This is undoubtedly one of my favorite film of this year. I cried twice. What a great story with a solid message and memorable songs.
