I remember playing solo with my sister and we would get mad every time we lost and had to start over again, but when we beat it we yelled in excitement so loud the whole house echoed.

No you don't, you can actually advance the story with the other CPU's winning instead of you, as long as Kamek (Magikoopa) and/or Shy Guy don't win, then you can go to the next stage no problem since everybody else is trying to get the mini stars back like you are
Compared to the older games and the newer games. It was complete luck with this game, whether Kamik or shy guy won the stage, because with the game being dependent on what the last person rolled defeated any semblance of strategy. I’m conflicted on where to put the game because after looking at the older and newer Mario party games for the switch, and for the previous systems, the games are a lot better than this one, but this game introduced me to the Maria party series to begin with. The mini games were also good in this game.
Weird how kemek and shyguy counted as bowsers help but if mario and friends win youd still lose.... I mean they all agreed to help get the ministars back
