I must add that if you are foreign, you also need to have your birth certificate for housing and the ID. I’m Canadian and just married a marine and I’m adjusting my status. It’s not easy at all

Im dating someone who is about to go into active military but he would like to marry me in next couple years so this is good to know. I have someone telling me its not worth the wait but to me it is if u lov someone it is.
My fiance is in the military and will be taking my last name. Would it be a long and stressful process especially with him and his military stuff and documents?
What if it’s the other way around. Military woman getting married to a civilian man. Does he have to do the social security changes? He isn’t changing his name to mine
Yes! You have to change your name on your social security card before going to DEERS to get your dependent ID. That said, often DEERS will accept your paperwork confirming the change rather than making you wait a month to get the physical new card in the mail. Good luck!
