    Can you do an updated video of end of the month process for YNAB? Ex. How to make sure you aren’t starting negative? ESP for ppl who didn’t realize they were on cc float until they started YNAB.

    How can I keep the money in my savings accounts from being available for spending?

    Your videos are the only videos I slow down to watch vs the you tube drama channels I usually have to speed up 😂😂 you’re the cutest

      I consume all of my content on at least 1.5 speed and I was just thinking this week “hmmm I wonder if this has caused me to talk in 1.5 speed now” 😂😂😂

      I slow some folk down to .75 and some to .50 cz it makes them sound like a happy drunk at a business convention. “Now let me tell you about sinking funds. I love sinking funds. And some I speed up cz it shouldn’t take five minutes to stir a pot.

    Excellent! Excellent. I’ve gone through other videos but you clearly are the best explaining everything. Thank you.

    this was so helpful! i've been using YNAB for a while but learned some good things. :) one thing that i find tricky is linking my savings account - i don't want that money in "ready to assign" because i don't want to spend it. i end up moving it to a savings category. is there a better way? thank you!

      This is how I handle it. I’ve made savings it’s own category and then subcategories are escrow, home insurance, new car someday.

    So your instructions are very clear but I got lost when you started talking about the overspending and credit card utilage. I use my credit cards for ust about everything which I posted in your last video. If I could continue that I would prefer. But I guess I need a little more guidance. I opens up March budget though we are atill in Feb and I inserted some numbers bur I am confused. I saw how to enter paychecks now trying yo figure out how to fix everything.

    Hi Lexa, this is a really cool video. I know it’s old but I hope you will see it as I have a question: sometimes I order like 10 times the exact same item on Amazon in a different color or model just because I can’t really decide which one is best. I’ll definitely send 9/8 items back after making my decision and get a refund. But how do I set this kind of expense & reimbursement on YNAB? Thanks for your response. 😊

      This is a great question. Did you figure it out?

    • @taliseella
      @taliseella 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Susanna, in case you didn't figure it out - I would assign all of the expenses for each to the same category, then assign the refunds to that category as well and it will bring it all back up again - so temporarily your category is overspent (which it is because you bought a bunch), hope that helps! :) I'm sure there could be better ways of doing this, that was just my first idea.

    Lexa: The Avocado Toast Budget -
    Why is YNAB's budget page referring to August 2023 before the program was installed?
    😅
    Is there some sort of computation it makes, based on present money and applying that to the hypothetical past? I know it sounds ridiculous. Nonetheless it shows August when I did not have the program installed. It also says there a few hundred dollars available to the September budget that I didn't budget but this isn't so. I had a person who does taxes for a living take a look at it and she can't understand it.
    Any help you can provide is appreciated. If none, hey, no big, thanks for reading.

    I’m still lost. Why set up an interest account if I can only pay the minimum amount for now. Wouldn’t I have to reduce my payment amount? Seems like extra work.

    I love your videos and your excitement. I do have a question. I just set up YNAB and connected my checking account. It pulled up our balance but I do not want to assign all that money because it will make my checking account zero balance. How do I fix that, so that I have a little cushion in the account?

    • @jennivanhart3016
      @jennivanhart3016 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you want to have a cushion, create a category called cushion and assign money to that category. I'd put it in a hidden category so you don't see it when you're budgeting. The beauty of YNAB is you assigned EVERY dollar, even if it is in a category you don't want to spend from. I have a category called "Don't Touch" and I sometimes add to it if I have unspent money in the month.

    Loved the part 1 video and got the concept but you completely lost me with this video.. as in it went over my head once we got into the underfunded section. I want to understand this so bad because i also have adhd and don’t know how to manage $ or understand it. Perhaps it’s a matter of just diving in and playing around with it.

    Question about the credit cards. I have mine set up like you show in YNAB...but (as I am starting out) it doesn't necessarily show in your budget when they're due. Is there a way to do that? We have CC debt so I chose the way you showed but I'm confused on how to integrate the due date for the min. payment.

  • @MikeyTripz
    @MikeyTripz ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Man I'm so confused. I'm trying to figure out how this helps me if I'm living pay check to pay check. I've never budgeted before so I don't get how this works when your budget is including your savings account but the idea is not to use that? Also, how am I supposed to budget for things at the end of the month if I don't have the money now? =( why does this feel overwhelming.. how do you budget eating out 3 weeks from today?

    • @TheAvocadoToastBudget
      @TheAvocadoToastBudget  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was SO overwhelmed when I first started. The big goal in YNAB is to get a month “ahead” in your budget to give yourself some wiggle room. But that can feel super unattainable when you’re just trying to make ends meet today.
      Not every money problem is a budgeting problem! But I have a video that shows how to use YNAB when you have no money or are in overdraft that may be helpful.

      I’m so sorry you’re struggling and you’re definitely not alone in feeling overwhelmed and disheartened 💜

    What happens if you choose not to assign money to a category? For example, I don't have any money this month to put towards my vacation savings. I guess it will just stay yellow? Because I have not assigned any money to it there won't be a problem of underfunding it either... and there is no transaction from my bank saying "where is you vacation savings!"
    Thanks, really helpful videos!

    This seems like A Lot of work for something as simple as a budget. You almost need a separate budget just to know what to do with ynap

    • @lynnroberts76
      @lynnroberts76 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Budgets are not necessarily simple, the math is simple, but it’s the behavior that gets people into trouble

    I'm having trouble with my savings being in my ready to assign. How do I stop that? I don't want to assign my savings to a category

    • @stop08it
      @stop08it ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Create a savings category and assign it there, you have to assign every dollar to a job, it’s why it’s called zero based budgeting
