  • What exactly is the role of humans in the story of the Bible? Why does God care so much about us as powerless, created beings, and why are we compared to babbling babies in Psalm 8? In this video, we explore a fascinating biblical poem and discover deep insight into God’s purpose for humanity and all creation.

Jesus himself said in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except THROUGH ME.” Jesus is the only way because he is the predicted messiah from throughout the Old Testament. Just go and read Isaiah 53. It’s pretty obvious who it’s referring to. He is the savior, the Son of God, and GOD IN HUMAN FLESH.

Jesus also claimed to be the cloud rider in Daniel 7. He also stated “I AM” to Satan, Judas, and the Roman soldiers sent to take him to Pilate and Caiaphas (which is where he makes the Daniel 7 reference and Caiaphas loses his mind because the cloud rider is also Yahweh in Daniel 7).
Jesus also explains repeatedly that His kingdom is not of this world and that if it where, his servants would fight. Interesting...the servants of Mohammed have loved fighting for 1400 years. Clearly their king is not of the Kingdom of Yahweh.
Deuteronomy 6:4 is about the preeminence of Yahweh. Go read the whole Psalm, and you’ll see that “one” cannot simply mean “singular.”
The OT has numerous scriptures where Yahweh is in Heaven and on earth at the same time. The spirit is also at work on earth while Yahweh is commanding from Heaven. Study and pray for understanding.
Also, Jesus = Yeshua, which means salvation. So if Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one can come to the Father except by Him, then he is claiming equality with Yahweh...and if you know the Old Testament well enough, you would not be cherry picking New Testament verses to prove your incorrect and out of context heresy.
Brother, the commandment is the same to you as it is to me. Love the Lord Yahweh with all your heart, soul, and might, and love your neighbor as yourself.

I believe we ought still to "sabbath" but we are not required to under the old covenant, which Christ came to fulfill. I hope that clarifies. You can certainly worship God ANY day, but if you believe that you must observe the original Sabbath day (which certainly was Saturday) or else you would be in sin, then I'm afraid you are still living under the OT law and not under grace. He's not close with his dad and he promised his mom he'd raised his little sister even though he felt inept. His uncle is dying alone in an ICU in Chicago- his hometown. I know I should have probably told him to read a gospel but as I prayed over him I couldn't help but think of King David and I challenged him to read the Psalms. If you're reading this tonight, would you please lift up Verdell? He was telling me how angry she is with God but we know as Believers that God is near to the Brokenhearted and he loves him. Please pray he comes to a deep and meaningful relationship with the God of the universe and comes to know salvation through his son Jesus. Please pray. I mentioned to him the Bible project and this popped up on my feed tonight I thought it was pretty cool that it was a whole salvation message.

We encourage you to slowly read through Psalm 8 about three or four times: bibleproject.com/learn/psalms/#read-psalm_8
Throughout much of the Bible, humans are described as unimpressive in comparison with the glory of the stars and sun above. So why has God exalted humanity to rule over creation on his behalf? We can find the answer in Psalm 8, a familiar poem in the Bible quoted by Jesus and other New Testament authors (see Matthew 21:15-16; 1 Corinthians 15:22-27; Ephesians 1:19-23).
Psalm 8 opens with a short riddle, and when we take the time to make sense of it, we can understand more about God’s choice to elevate humans (Psalm 8:2-3). In the opening of the psalm, we’re told that God is at work in the world to confront violent world rulers and establish a safe refuge. And he’s doing it through the cries of tiny babies! It’s a poetic symbol that describes a pattern of how God works, by exalting the lowly and bringing down the powerful. This is a common biblical motif to talk about how God loves to upset the standard value systems and power structures of our world (see the same ideas at work in 1 Samuel 2, or the story of David’s rise in 1 Samuel 16).
For God’s Kingdom of ultimate justice to come on earth as it is in heaven, corrupt and distorted systems of human power need to be exposed and corrected (see the following Psalms 9-10 for an exposition of this same theme). This is why Psalm 8 was valuable to Jesus, as he compared himself and his followers to the weak ones that God was going to enthrone over the world. But even the way Jesus became King of the world was surprising. He was enthroned through weakness, as he allowed himself to die because of the sins of his own people. But the God of the Bible is in the habit of raising up the helpless to reign over creation, and the resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate act of God’s power through weakness. This poem invites us to consider not only humanity’s role in the world but also the way that Jesus fulfilled that role. Jesus invites us into a new way of viewing power, value, and human destiny.

@@AmazingVideoArt Hi! Great question! May I ask what version you're reading? In Psalms 8 there is no mention of us being like gods, the only thing mentioned in that same context is that we are to have dominion over all creation. That means that God has put us in charge of all the earth and through that we can be viewed as the caretakers but not as gods. I hope this helped :) try using the ESV version, it is said to be closest to the correct Hewbrew translation.

I have always had a longing to understand more about this verse. Now I’m in my mid 20’s and I pray that God will teach me the reason why He has always kept this verse in my heart.

Why does God choose the weak to rule the Earth? Why is it that only those like little children can enter heaven?
It’s simple...it’s because when you experience and finally realized that “you ARE NOTHINNG WITHOUT GOD”, you begin to accept the imperfections of others and be more forgiving...more loving and caring... because you realize that you are loved and cared for in that way by God. That’s how one is humbled and that’s why the weak are chosen.
    What make humans empowered?
    What’s the human power?
Simply, it’s PRAYER...because when we pray, it’s God Who battles for us, Who leads us...and truly there’s no one more powerful than God. Amen. 😊
If God created the world with just His Words, we humans - the images of God, are empowered through prayers.
Thus, those who are created from dirt...”humans” we are called...are like “wild cards” - God can turn them to anyone. Cool! :D

I’m planning to become a missionary to save those who are in terrible situations. To reveal to them. It doesn’t have to be this way. That our father loves us dearly. That we must carry our cross till our times come individually, or when Jesus finally brings our new kingdom to earth. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only son. So for those who believe in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Amen.

"To be his follower, is to become like a child." I always thought this, but felt foolish. I think that children think with their heart majority of the time; what happen to me as an adult, my mind thinks so rational, but deep down I know that isn't the path. But I take it anyway. And if I don't take the most logical path, I'm criticized for it. But as I've become my own person, and still growing currently, do what you love to do. Love and Faith to God will lead you to greater heights than anyone on Earth. Unless Jesus comes back.

      @sovereignmercy1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That is so not true. Read Acts everyone heard Peter in their native tongue, not gibberish. The Spirit prays for us with groanings that CANNOT be uttered. Gibberish comes from pagan religious services which were ungodly. Acts 2:1,6-12 ~ When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, "Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs-we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God." So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "Whatever could this mean?"
Tongues only occurs 3x in the book of Acts, is never mentioned in any epistle except 1 Corinthians where it is being misused, is said to be the least of the gifts, 2 or 3 men could speak and it must be interpreted. Tongues was the reversal of Babel and has ceased.
