    That climax towards the end of Let Down is one of the most joyous 30 seconds of music that I’ve ever heard. Probably listened to it a thousand times, and it still sends a shiver up my spine.
    And the thing is that there are moments on every one of their albums that do that. Give me goosebumps, if you will. Some more than others.

    Thom York's voice is an instrument all it's own. In Rainbows is my favorite. Second is the In The Basement of In Rainbows. Once you "get" Radiohead it is like they have been here this entire time and I had no idea???? You have the sense that you wasted so much time not listening to them. They are all so talented. Once you dive deep into RH then you have their solo projects to swim through. Jonny is a master at movie soundtracks. I enjoy watching people fall in love with RH.

    Radiohead's lead singer is Thom Yorke. He and Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead's guitarist) have also been members in a band called The Smile (which has been described as Radiohead if they were a jazz band). Additionally, Yorke has been in the band Atoms for Peace (A band where he collaborated with Flea from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers), and has released a few solo albums, the most notable of which is Anima.

  • @ThisSteveGuy
    @ThisSteveGuy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    This album's mix was engineered by Nigel Godrich, who went on to do the rest of their albums and is practically a band member. After this he did Beck's album Mutations which you should definitely check out. Not for a video, but just on your own. It's not the kind of album that would get a lot of views, unfortunately. Anyway, it was recorded in only 2 weeks, one day per song, and it sounds absolutely amazing. Just tons of atmosphere, imaginative arrangements, and the songwriting is the best.

    Definitely "In Rainbows" and would love to have you share it, this was a great watch! You're not pulling punches, just being real. It is appreciated and enjoyable. This reminded me of my first time listening to this in college when it came out. It blew my mind, became and still is my favorite album. It's #1 or 2 in so many polls - best of the 90's, best ever?? None of that means much, music is for each individual, only pointing it out as a support of how much it hit with you - it's up there man. Of their 3 'master work' albums I guess one might call them - and all 9 are fire - 'Kid A' came next but is SO DIFFERENT from this one, it needs some time to build up to the super experimental unique sound. "In Rainbows" is the best follow-up to me - has a different sound than 'OK Computer' but it is so so great, warm and soothing and the band is just hitting on all points with maybe their best songwriting out of their whole catalogue...then you get to watch "In Rainbows: Live from the Basement" to see these 5 guys do their thing and make magic live, no tricks, as good as it gets, killer way to connect with the music and the band to experience it that way. Thom (said Tom) Yorke writes the songs, sings, plays rhythm guitar and piano, but every member has ridiculous credentials and multi-tasks to make this layered immense sound-Universe. Aside from Pink Floyd, no other band I know can create those sound landscape journeys that just grab and take you away like Radiohead - truly masters at it. It helps they've had the same incredible Producer since the mid 90's for every album, same artist for album covers even...they are just a unit, met in High School, never quit, had "Creep" launch their career, but they were built to make magic, and that's what they did ever after. They've had 5 of 9 albums in the Rolling Stone Top 500 - only a handful of other artists in our past century of music have matched or beat that. Still, everyone vibes or not with any type of music, but for those who dig Radiohead, they offer some genuine treasure, for real. Some of their songs take a few, many listens, before they sink in and grab you - sometimes it'll be years later I finally HIT with a song (I too wasn't that into "Electioneering" or "Climbing up the Walls" - which get's better and better every time you hear it pretty quickly) but you nailed the analysis anyway as they move the album flow as a whole. And I agree - of all their albums - all of which have epic closing songs - "The Tourist" is my favorite. Thanks a lot, was a fun way to re-listen to my favorite album, appreciate it! Peace//

    I loved to see how the feelings hit you with such force while listening to Exit Music (For a Film). I feel the same every time i hear it, since I bought the album on New Year's Eve in 1997 when I was 15. It's so full of pain, but also catharsis. Never will I get old of seeing people experience this band for the first time. However, what is even more powerful than the first listen is the 100th listen. I had this album as my "driving back to school" music for those midnight drives back to university after visiting home. This sound just COOKS on a late night long car ride, especially after you've heard it a million times before. It just gets right inside you and takes you somewhere. It's so important to have the right atmosphere listening to this album. Somewhere you can just escape and let it consume you.
    So many good songs here, Let down, Exit music, No surprises, Lucky, The tourist, etc... but even still, after thousands of listens and many decades, nothing comes close to Paranoid Android for me, all three parts are so unique and each one takes you somewhere else, and when it's done you are just left speechless.
