I have the 2020 Mk 3.5 RS wagon and it is totally rad. Love that car. And yes, buy more wagons, SUVs are boring as batshit. Got the older split headlights which don't look as good as the new shape, but have a proper gear shifter and manual handbrake, virtual cockpit, no buggy infotainment system (stable as a rock) and HVAC controls on buttons and knobs like they should be. Also the trick diff in the RS makes a huge difference coming out of corners. I think the re-sale of the RS is also better.
As a Czech, i am surprised of how well you pronounced Škoda. Most people pronounce it incorrect and just ignore our lovely letter "Š". Also didn't know we sold them down under, which is nice.
The 'cargo blind' is actually a cargo hammock - you clip it onto the folding hooks. Its meant for soft items like jumpers and whatnot. Don't feel bad... i had to check my manual to work out wtf it is haha 😄
It’s called ‘Limited’ because they’re apparently gonna replace it with a Sportline version in the regular line-up (think black exterior trim instead of chrome, sportline wheels, suede interior).
Not sure that is correct, the Kamiq limited edition became the signature, I would expect the limited addition to remain as is (ie chrome etc rather than sports trim). The RS is the sporty model in the Octavia range. I think the limited edition appeals to a different sort of customer, more mature sophisticated, than a sportsline model.
Great video, really enjoyed exploring this great looking car, and thank goodness it's not an SUV, very practical and handsome 😀 But oh no, screen controls are infuriating, deal breaker for me!
For decades I remember vt V8 commodore traction control was just a button on the console can't see what was so hard about that talk about trying to reinvent the wheel
The problem for Škoda and mainstream European cars in Australia is pricing, importer put a premium on anything European, bread and butter suddenly has snob value (they think). Just look at the pricing of the Octavia 140TSI LE, Mazda 6 GT SP and Subaru Outback sport.
Put a deposit on one today. Love it. Got the last one in Sydney in Blue. I have to wait until April. Limited cannot be ordered as it was a run of 500 (supposedly).
Good thing they got rid of the dry clutch DSG. I got an old superb wagon with one of those DQ200 7 speed dry clutch DSG, it's so stupid and jerky in low speed, and it struggles a lot in second gear, eventually the clutch was so worn I had to spend $2.6k to replace the clutch assembly 😩
I liked the default seats and I like having fabric seats. The problem with the seats is probably that they're not the most adjustable, so they couldn't make them perfect for all body types.
Dude they're sports seats. It's a performance model! Don't buy a performance car with sports seats and performance suspension if you want comfort. That's why they offer other models in the range. And I'll take manual seat adjustability every day of the week please! Far quicker to make adjustments and less can go wrong down the track...
Coming from a wagon lover I'd love one of these if they had a sportier varient, I love my liberty wagon but just couldn't do going back under my current 180kw
@@deathtozemotherland You should definitely consider it then. Take one for a test drive. The RS Octavia is about 0.5 - 1.5 seconds (depending on the year) quicker to 100 than your Subaru, with a higher power to weight ratio, as well as more torque, and advancements in transmission tech make it much easier to live with coming from a manual.
As an owner of a 2010 Octavia RS wagon (first time I ever bought a European car) I'm here to tell you I've now had 11 years of faultless motoring from it. Not only that I've run a Stage I then now a Stage II tune on it and it's remained absolutely trouble free. And yes it has the DSG transmission! Don't believe everything you read. I'd buy one again in a heartbeat (when they fix this new goddam infotainment system and stop burying every function in a touchscreen!)
What do you think of the Skoda Octavia? Wagon or hatch?!
Wagon
I have the wagon (last gen) - it rocks.

Both are nice but no longer the cheap bargain they use to be
Hatch 100% but I agree the wagon looks like a Audi A4 Avant.

Including the time it took to set up launch control in the menu, 0-100 of 25s sounds about right.
:D

Good to know - thanks!

7-speed dry clutch has been around for yonks, the 2WD 7-speed wet box (GTI 7.5) hasn’t been around long at all.
Thanks for clarifying!
The dry clutch has been an unreliable POS for yonks. FTFY.
Great car reviews. I have owned a Skoda since 2015, and love it. Guess what will be my next car....Yep, a Skoda. 👍👍👍
As a9 year old Audi A4 Allroad wagon, slightly anti SUV driver myself, hats off to Skoda for still making a sporty wagon.
4x4 2.0 tsi 140kw,acceleration is 6.8 sec (0-100) - 95 Octane. Maybe it is faster than vRS with 98 Octane. 😂

I checked out the RS with no option packs. For $55k the seats were manually adjustable and they bucket seats were so uncomfortable.
Yeah not the best haha

I dont mind them - more adjustability would be nice though

My RS seats are awesome. You must have a bony arse or something.

Out of curiosity, which one do you have? The 2.5T?
You could just get the RS, it *does* have 180 kw.
@@Bucket_Boy101 It's also got more torque, and a higher power to weight ratio.
@@asum307 3.0rb, but I also have it on the 6 speed manual

I have to chose between a Subaru Outback Sport or this Skoda. Which one do you recommend????
Keep up the good work, you have a good style of reviews and you're very thorough and knowledgeable without being boring
Thank you!
Skoda's are getting damn good these days. I'm just no convinced with the VagGroup's poor reliability though.

I’ve got a 2015 Octavia wagon and Ive gotten 360,000km so far, only just starting to have some issues on it now
5:09 spare wheel?
space saver
I wonder how the 140 Kw is the GTI engine?
245 HP is GTI engine 9.6 compression ratio, Garett MGT1754 TURBOCHARGER.
Your so fun bro
lmao 'unlike carwow? amazing I thought I was the only one noticing that lol
Passat wagon is probably better with less gremlins.
older
Test drive it for 24hrs lol alright mate
Shkoda
That's actually the correct pronunciation... Schhh-kohda
