I saw this song the very first time it was ever performed at the Ace of Spades here in Sacramento last August. Blew the house down and a decent video for a fan cam is here on TH-cam. I am an old man. My first concert was the Doors playing second bill to the Seeds back in 1966. I have been to around 300 concerts. And Band-Maid is among the best l have ever seen having seen them four times now. In fact my three favorite bands working today are Band-Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila. All of them are stellar and blow most every western band completely out of the water. They write, arrange, produce and perform their all original material. There is no Rick Rubens in the background. They have around 150 songs in their catalog and there isn't a bad one in the bunch.
Band-Maid is top-notch in every way. One of my favorite recent live videos is the "Dice & Hate?" (two songs) from 2023 Lallapalooza. It is fun and has a nice transition between the songs.
There’s tons of live videos and they honestly sound better. The one a lot of ppl are reacting to currently and for good reason is their performance of 2 songs (dice and hate!) at the recent lollapalooza this past year. You won’t be disappointed
Domination Official Live is a great song that they do some extra stuff from the studio recording that really spotlights every member. A great place to start the Band-Maid rabbit hole!
BAND-MAID fans are Maidiacs. Here’s the band: Saiki-lead vocals ‘the Ice Queen’ (she needs a new nickname) Misa-bass, the Barefoot Assassin. She doesn’t wear shoes on stage Akane-drums, Gorilla. She caught Jimmy Page’s attention and asked to meet backstage. Kanami-lead guitar, Mincho. Songwriting genius. Miku-rhythm guitar, backing vocals, lyricist. Small Pigeon. She founded the band in 2013 and didn’t know how to play guitar. Kanami taught her. Miku worked in a maid cafe where she came up with the idea of starting a band wearing maid clothes while playing hard rock. She’s the band’s spokespigeon.
I love how Band-Maid can take intricate writing and make them totally accessible and catchy! Almost every 2nd verse is never musically the same as the first. Also, I love how every member gets their time to shine. Which you can only do when every memeber is super talented!
I agree completely from what I know so far! Those moments are my favorite in anything. When you can trick the masses into enjoying music that is not simple, you win my ultimate prize in music. Wonderful band.
Mike, glad you found your way back to the Maids! They always serve the goods!! And “well written” could be their middle name, as you’ll see; with an amazing synthesis of every rock genre possible, as their calling card. Yes, you want to see them live! So many great lives on their channel - Domination, Freedom, Puzzle, No God. Plus to die for online live “Manners / Black Hole” (no audience but stunning live playing). Their whole 2023 Lalapalooza set Hulu HD stream is on YT, and the “Dice/Hate?” twofer is a high-point if you like guitar/bass duels. Enjoy the journey down the “Pigeon” hole with the Maids!! Take care and rock on 🤘🏼🔥🎸🥁🎤🎼😎✌🏼
hey ho... nice Reaction... I love these Ladys too. As a 46 Year old man i found them maybe 2 years ago. and since then i cant stop listen to them, cant stop listen to people who react to them... These Ladys are Amazing!! Best Rock Band out there at the moment. Im looking forward to your live Reactions... Dont forget to put your seatbells on for the ride :) Greetz from Germany
I'm on board with Dice and Hate! from Lolla, you'll see why. Caught the livestream on Hulu and they sounded great, the camera direction wasn't always where it should be but there are some great shots of Akane the drummer. Gotta love that. They played 13 songs in one hour and the energy was there, first to last. Thanks for the reaction!
Hands down, Puzzle has a better audio mix then Domination. I think Dice and Hate at lollapalooza is a strong contender for one of their best live performances you just have to suffer through the awful camera work.
Here’s my summary of Band-Maid songs: You can count the songs you don’t like on one hand Your jaw will drop about 50 times because they’re so good, and they will be your favorites until the next one blows you away The rest of the songs are still better than pretty much any other rock band You will love the personalities and how they present themselves- they’re not vulgar, they don’t use sex, they genuinely like each other and the sum of the 5 of them together is greater than them individually
They played at 4 major festivals including welcome to rockville and pointfest. For live, there are a few official ones available. My pick are Play, Onset and No God. While Manners/Blackhole is also amazing it's from online concert so the energy isn't 100% You can also find Moratorium from intro to classic rock channel if he approves.
May I jump in and offer BAND-MAID's Lollapalooza 2023 live video of DICE/HATE? for your live performance experience? I think you'll really enjoy it. Also, thank you for this wonderful reaction to SHAMBLES.
Awesome Mike…..love watching someone that’s able to pick apart songs like this. Glad you’re on Band Maid. I saw them in Chicago for Lalapalooza and the show the show the night before. They are a great live band. Good luck to you and your channel
See this Lollapalooza performance of “DICE & HATE?,” which includes a breakdown where the MISA’s bass has a conversation KANAMI’s guitar - th-cam.com/video/a6gvg9Xg4Ao/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JcJQolhh7R3BfI0c
Good move finding the maids again. And you've got your choice of 120 plus great songs to choose from. Genres mean nothing to them though so don't expect them to sound the same from one song to the next. Best band out there IMO.
I'm with you about wanting to see how a band plays live before really understanding what they are. You've seen how they play the instruments, but how well do they play a room? Can they tickle the keys that rock a crowd? I love seeing fan videos of old gigs where they compete with smoke and wooden posts for space on the stage. Looking forward to your take on Band-Maid live!
@@Davey-Boyd most are approved immediately for most bands. Their first one was instant. Sometines, for reasons unknown, certain songs are not instant. You have to dispute it and then it's usually approved within two days, sometimes within minutes.
React to a few more songs? Oh, you're in the deep end now, friend. You have almost 130 songs to choose from. Guess I should help you out. Point you in the right direction. The classic starting point is *'Domination'* live, but I'd like to steer you toward their Lallapalooza performance of *'DICE'* & *'HATE?'* two-for-one. There is some amazing bass work going on in *'HATE?'.* Sadly, you wont be able to see much of MISA, the bassist, because of incompetent camera work and directionless direction. Still, an amazing performance. 👍
Thanks great reaction!! For live I'd stick to their Official Live from their channel at first particularly "PLAY" and "DOMINATION" (LIVE) in that order...Dice and HATE from the LaLa show are great but the recording quality is not the best...Also "MANNERS/BLACK HOLE" . PEACE!!🕊🍌🍻☕⚾
Hey Mike ! Great that you found your way back to Band-Maid. There is soo much to discover, especailly since you are a bass player. Looking forward to more Band-Maid content soon ;-)
There are so many great Live Tracks , but maybe the best Show might be Domination Live or Freedom Live. For some really proggy Stuff try Onset Live or From Now on , both Instrumentals , just insane .
How very prophetic of you. You realized this is a "get off your ass and do it" kind of song even at 2:27, which was way *before* you heard the chorus which Saiki literally commands us to "Do it!". Heck, it's even in the ending line!!! Yet, you called it early on in the song! Intriguing indeed!! I'm also impressed by your ear for music. Here's hoping you'll listen to their live performances soon. I guess the most common song to start off with is their "Domination (Official Live Video)", but honestly, take any of their official live videos and see for yourself what these ladies are made of. (My personal favourite would have been the Zepp Tokyo 2018 live version of "Don't You Tell Me", but it can no longer be found on TH-cam sadly.... sigh).
Bro, check another all Japanese female Bands... LOVEBITES - live songs Judgement Day, Stand And Deliver(Shoot 'em Down), The Hammer Of Wrath, Nameless Warrior, Break The Wall, Set The World On Fire, Raise Some Hell, When Destinies Align, Shadow Maker, Holy War, cover song Pain Killer(Judas Priest), new bassist Fami 20yr/o, check Fami channel and watch her play bass cover Alien Alien(viewed 10M++) NEMOPHILA - songs Rise, Revive, Seize The Fate, Dissension, Raitei... HANABIE - songs We Love Sweets, Be The GAL, Pardon Me, NEET GAME... GACHARIC SPIN - song Mindset, watch the bass player Chopper Koga... TRIDENT-JAPAN - songs Voltage, No Regret... ASTERISM(female guitarist) - songs Dawn, Rising Moon, Church, Blaze, Gunfire...watch the 7string bass player solos.....
“Saw a squirrel 🐿️ “ 😂 Well, my friend…behold the “small pigeon” and pursue the best thing to happen in the rock space in a generation. My strong recommendation would be for you to check out their most recent instrumental “From Now On.” Heavy, intricate, progressive, no lyrics to worry about. If you’re set on seeing them live? “Domination,” official live video is a couple years old now, but captures everything that makes them special. Enjoy the ride! 🚀
Welcome back. Yeah most new music today is only good for listening in elevators. Said it before and it still goes, Band Maid is the complete band. They do everything not only well but to perfection. Live your gonna love the Lollapalooza video with dice and hate. Gonna blow your hair back LOL.
2:27 - You're close on the lyrics meaning, Mike. The creators of the Japanese anime show, Kengan Ashura, asked BAND-MAID to make them a Season 2 outro end credits song and this song was the result. 7:57 - You want live? Oh boy here ya' go: Domination (2020 live) - th-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/w-d-xo.html Freedom (2020 live) - th-cam.com/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/w-d-xo.html
This song was written to be used as the ending song of an anime series, as such the lyrics are referencing the anime in some way. Haven't seen the anime, so don't know anything about the story or how the song relates to it. You definitely need to check out a live performance regardless if it's one they released officially on TH-cam or if you can find a good quality fan cam also works.
Mike , Shambles is the closing song for Anime Kengan Ashura its an Anime about fighters , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin . live songs I suggest Domination official live video .
Somehow, they’re better live. Their mixing is mostly very good, but they tend to oversanitize the vocals and bury the backing vocals and lead guitar. The lead vocalist also just seems to add a little extra oomph in front of a crowd, and it’s all over their faces that they’re happiest with their fans.
Brother you lost that time where you could have had B-M in your musical world 😢 As we say in Australia go outside and give yourself a stiff uppercut and then come back in and immediately play some B-M you won't regret it 😀👍🍻

Yes, the Lallapaloosa duo is a must, especially for a bass player!
Echo that!! 2023 Lallapalooza is one of the best rock live performance in recent years.
Or if not both of the songs, at least Hate?
There’s tons of live videos and they honestly sound better. The one a lot of ppl are reacting to currently and for good reason is their performance of 2 songs (dice and hate!) at the recent lollapalooza this past year. You won’t be disappointed
💯
THIS!
Warning, may cause spontaneous combustion - th-cam.com/video/a6gvg9Xg4Ao/w-d-xo.html
That one will be coming in the next few days!
I agree with below. Dice/Hate? Live at Lollapalooza.
I second and third this recommendation!
Domination Official Live is a great song that they do some extra stuff from the studio recording that really spotlights every member. A great place to start the Band-Maid rabbit hole!
It's Pigeon hole, thank you. PO😉
BAND-MAID fans are Maidiacs.
Here’s the band:
Saiki-lead vocals ‘the Ice Queen’ (she needs a new nickname)
Misa-bass, the Barefoot Assassin. She doesn’t wear shoes on stage
Akane-drums, Gorilla.
I've already given Saiki a new nickname. To me she is the "Queen of Cool". After all - when she is on stage - who is more cool than Saiki?
I love how Band-Maid can take intricate writing and make them totally accessible and catchy!
Almost every 2nd verse is never musically the same as the first.
Also, I love how every member gets their time to shine. Which you can only do when every memeber is super talented!

@ReichertMusic when you get a chance, check out Don't You Tell Me, live version. Guitar vs bass battle!!!!

It's coming soon! I already recorded it. I'm just waiting on the copyright clearance. Hopefully I'll be able to post it within a few days.
