All metal design and still have the capability to remove the battery is a big win for me. Sure, the design isn't all that flashy but I buy phones for functionality, not for looks like some of these phone gurus.
For the nearly four years I own this phone, I had a 10800 milliamp hour extended battery, and never once have let me down. I just recently retired it couple weeks ago for a note 9 because the hardware of my v20 was starting to become very tired. it will now spend its retirement in my home theater AV setup as a remote with it's IR blaster, and ability to use Chromecast. I still miss the upper second screen, I still find myself reaching up there to swipe away a notification or grab a shortcut that I used to have only to remember that I no longer have it. My opinion is, the upper second screen was a great use of a notch.
3 years later, the last good smartphone with a removable battery, IR blaster, and audiophile quality. Still a decent phone in 2020, although lags behind now in features. Wish LG would make the V70 like this but small bezels and it would fly off the shelves
I love this channel! just because this man doesn't beg for subscribers (through video or comments). And even even if he has less subscribers, it doesnt show up on his videos. Great job Mr. Mobile!
I was not expecting the LG V20 to be this great. Congrats LG, finally stepped up. I have confidence the G6 will be better. I can't wait to see a comparison/review of this, the note 7, and the iPhone 7+.
***** I've been thinking about the G6 ever since the G5 came out. The G5 was a good phone as as far performance, but it was ugly as hell, so I was soooooooo ready for the next thing.
segun serrano most likely not. I'd keep the iPhone 6s, it's a more than capable device and iPhones have the best support. I'm an Android guy, the G6 isn't here, but I know it'll be a huge upgrade because LG messed up with the G5 so much.
+09Mrsubaru trying something new.? Lenova/Motorola also tried something new with thier version of how modular design should be, and thier version is a much much better way of implementing modular design. And it's obvious that lg recognized the failure in the g5 modules, because they didn't incorporate a any kind of modules for the v20.! LG is still sticking with a removable battery design. I guess there's a small market there, but a removable battery is not that important I think. Look at all the phones out there that sell much much better then lg phones, almost all without removable battery. But better battery life and fast charging. And with non removable batteries comes other features like awesome fit and finish and WEATHER resistant..! I think that's more important then a removable battery.!
+gladwin miguel that "weather resistance" (do you mean water proof?) only applies to you currently. Having a removable battery means that you can replace the battery when it dies. and trust me, it WILL die and only a matter of time. not only that but lg is marketing this device to be durable which cannot be said to the note 7 scratches and battery.
Just ordered refurbished one with extra battery, case and screen protector, under 200.00 usd, 90 day warranty. We'll see... Good review! Thanks for the work.
uh, bro.. LG's UX overlay is the closest to stock out of all of the OEMs.. not counting BBM maybe. But still BBM doesn't sell enough units to be relevant in terms of that anyway. what LG modifies are apps like camera, message, phone, etc, adds features to menus, but sticks to material design and tries to keep icons and animations in line with vanilla/stock. they are good at it but alas could be better. tbh they should polish up the OS' UX overlay that they use and optimize it better but what they should really truly focus on for the G6 is the physical design of the phone. they need to get this next one right or it could spell doom for the LG Mobile division. I have confidence that LG can make this the one that turns it around for LG though!
+Eryk Iliewski You make good points but in my experience with LG devices I've definitely felt a more stock feel out of HTC Sense or even what's running on Motorola (Lenovo) phones. Hell Motorola's UX is basically stock Android with a couple software tweaks
Okay I have to agree with you on this, but you have to admit that Motorola is bound to be close to stock due to it have been a division of Google for several years. HTC sense only recently has opted for to go more stock. I remember one of the first android phones I got years ago was HTC sensation 4G and boy was that a heavy UX overlay xD
Thank you for providing just the important facts about the product. Some other channels didn't do such a great job, I love your channel, keep up the good work.
Amazing audio quality and recording, manual video with great stabilization, probably best camera on the market, removable battery, IR blaster, and military drop protection. Holy shit I'm definitely getting this.
Im liking this phone so far.. cant wait to check it once it comes out officially there in dubai. My v10 is one of my fav android phones. Huawei p9 plus is my number one at this moment.
Thats the best comment on smartphones review I'd heard: "The extra screen should be at the bottom" Subscribed! I have been looking for you Michael since pocketnow.
Thank you!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that the secondary screen should be at the bottom. That goes for a bunch of other design and control elements on android as well...
+MrMobile [Michael Fisher] sweet! I'm gonna have to take a look. I'm versed in Premiere Pro for my videos, but I'm always looking to spruce them up. And seriously, they look sharp!
+Orlando Camacho we most likely will not get these earphones in the US. The carriers here don't like anyone messing around with their branding. They'd love to slap a $5 pair of cheapies in that box with their logo on it lol. Especially AT&T.
Although I understand why everyone wants the 2nd screen at the bottom of the phone, I can also understand why LG made the decision to keep it on the top: it looks cleaner.
This phone is great for sure. I'm just bummed that they went for "A bigger G5" route design-wise. I loved that standout design of the v10, same as I loved that original sandstone back from oneplus. Companies always seem to start with something unique then slowly blend in.
Hear, hear. The look is sleek, if boring, but there is a composition mix: the metal is an aluminium alloy with silicon and magnesium while the corners have silicone-polycabonate (think of the V10's back). I still have to applaud LG for that.
Just picked this up 7 years later. Removable battery here I come. Sadly I won't be using it on network for long. Data sure but volte barely functions on the sprint models. Thank god I use text now for actual calling.
+Ilistray I overlooked that fact too while watching the video. Oh how the times were when phones got extended batteries from zero lemon and other companies. Now just expensive battery covers (iPhone ones are all $50-$100, android users are smart and buy better powerbanks)
Boe Dillard man I just watched a a review video where the guy talking about the phone had a battery already in and one in the box. if im wrong then just tell me don't have to be a smart ass about it.
they've leverage the space taking up by the front facing camera to put the secondary display. Putting a secondary display at the bottom will get in the way of the navigation keys and that, it will ticks a lot of people.
Damn, I was really hoping for that 4000 mah battery. 3200 is adequate-ish at best. I couldn't care less about the swap-able part, I'm not going to charge and carry around an extra battery. I just want a phone with a decent battery that get through a day of actually using the phone like I and so many other do. Oh well. There's always the Nexus to probably let me down too!
Nexus 6P owner here. It seems like the battery management in Nougat is legit; I've been getting like 3 more hours per days with this guy. It used to die on me by 5pm from 7 in the morning... now it's 8pm and the phone is at 10%
I'm sick of getting shafted because I live in North America. Can I have some Exynos love? Can I please have B&O tuning with B&O earbuds? WTF! Complete and utter bullshit!!!
Caio Canto I feel for you guys. I buy several flagships a year, but if I were in a Brazil I definitely couldn't do that. They mark up the phones drastically there and gimp them sometimes like the G5.
This is awesome for me as the V10 for some unknown reason was never on Sprint, but Sprint confirmed today that this phone will be! Looksto be a great upgrade from my S5! It even apparently has an IR blaster!
I had the V10 on Verizon and LOVED it. However, we switched to AT&T about a month ago and I didn't want to go to a phone that was already a year old, so I went with the Note 7, which is a fantastic phone in it's own right (aside from the battery issues). However, I don't like it as much as the V10. I didn't realize how much I genuinely loved the HiFi DAC. It makes your music sound incredible. I quit using Bluetooth audio in my car and started using Auxiliary audio again because it sounds fantastic. When I hooked my Note 7 into my car I immediately thought about how terrible the audio was. This was before I realized that the Note 7 didn't have the HiFi DAC. Apparently, the only phones that currently have a HiFi DAC are the V10, the HTC 10, and soon the V20. If audio is your thing, you will probably love this phone. I just wish AT&T would give a date when they will carry it that way I can return my "may explode at any moment" Note 7 it and get the V20.
What the freak!? As soon as I heard the voice, I was like YOU WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN SON? I missed you on Pocketnow, they are doing great over there but man. I missed your detail and fantastic reviews. I'm subscribing btw.
Everyone who cares about removable batteries should buy this phone. We need to show the industry that we're a sizable market too. Buying this as soon as it's available.
In my opinion it is the best phone lg has ever made. And yes, it looks beautiful, if you want the rubeer back so badly go buy a rubber case. This one is elegant, especialy in this black color.
Here in 2020, I'm still using the refurbished V20 I got 2yrs ago on ebay as my only vlogging device for my channel! It has a horrible tendency to screen burn, even though I exchanged the "9/10 condition" V20 3x & each one had worse & worse burn-in. If it were up to me, if I had ANY budget to speak of, I'd be using a year-old OnePlus 7T, or even the new midrange TCL 10 Pro that just came out & is shockingly good for the price...
This is what the G5 was meant to be. I will wait for the next Google phone and final camera comparisons between the big guns before I decide to get my first flagship
It's a bit safe but I think it may be the one to take the place of my G3. The return to a traditional removable battery is a plus IMO and oh my the lovely Micro SD. It's specs are very nice.
I agree about having the second screen on the bottom. This would be awesome because you could have your navigation buttons on that second screen instead of taking up real estate on the main screen. Also that second screen could span the whole width of the phone instead of being cut short because of the front facing camera. If the second screen was on the bottom, it would be such a hit. Also, I would consider using a different type of screen for the second screen, maybe using what they use for e-ink on the Pebble watch. It would save on battery, and would provide the same functionality, especially in terms of always being on.
Probably one of the best phones I have ever owned. You can put your own SD card in and remove it when it’s full and replace it with another till you have time to review it. Also you can buy a replacement battery for it when it goes bad and just pop the back off and replace it. Wish more manufacturers did that but then they wouldn’t be selling you all there services. Shame on the phone companies that have gone away from this way of thinking.
I bought LG V10 about yr ago and it is awesome..no other mobile phone has a fully functional manual camera like the v10 had..no phone galaxy phone or any other had the durability of the v10..the second screen was innovative and useful plus the phone came in some great colors...all in all this LG v10 was hands down winner of phone of the yr...I'm sticking with LG..I've had enough of galaxy phones and don't like iPhones...I'll be for sure taking A good look at the LG V20...
Micheal, you're right.. Maybe they should've kept the secondary display on bottom. But, I personally think we'd be totally hitting it instead of navigation bar, which is also in the "bottom". Just an opinion, but even I think it'd be looking cool on the bottom.
Hey Mike, thanks for the proper video. Any possibility to make a comparison video with the one plus 3? Feels as they are both on the same playing field. Minus removable battery. Of course 99% of phones out there are built on a permanent battery foundation. Thanks again!
I was hoping the V20 would have an even more rugged design with waterproofing. Especially for this being a Audio and Optic focused phone. A sidekick like this should have all of those characteristics.
The inside looks good and I love how they are catering to people interested in A/V, making that their own little niche. However, I like the V10's design more. The V20 at a glance looks like a mid-range Lenovo... I do agree that the 2nd screen at the bottom could serve more functionality than the screen on the top. I have the V10 now so I'm looking forward to their upcoming versions to upgrade to. Hope the V30/V40 would be a further improvement (more battery life please)!
+mLevon OFFICIAL I've had ZERO issues with my battery in my V10. As for the LG5 I had no interest whatsoever in that particular model. Different strokes for different folks.
I liked the V10 but the screen was worse than my Note 4, I know I will feel the same with the V20. IPS is fine straight on but the viewing angles are horrible. Removable battery and IR blaster, Dac are big positives tho. Will need to see in person first.
I got this in late 2018 for 150 dollars "mint condition". It came basically new in its original box, I think it was just returned to the store or was barely used by whoever had it. It's been fantastic and the phone I'm typing on right now. Video on my channel is taken with it. Unfortunately the battery is failing. 50% capacity approximately and in cold temps, it just malfunctions and the phone turns off until I get it out of the cold. Its funny, one reason I wanted it was because of the replaceable battery. Unfortunately the price of a new one I don't think is worth seeing its almost a 5 year old phone now, so when the time comes I guess I'll be buying a new phone. But I love the look. Didn't find it boring, thought it was really sleek.
Some of mobile manufacturers mast make competitor for galaxy note line with a stylus. If the V20 have one it may be a very good option for those that dosen't like the edge display and samsung.
design wise it looks amazing given the removable battery and expandable storage capabilities and the second screen should be on the bottom as you mentioned.
All metal design and still have the capability to remove the battery is a big win for me. Sure, the design isn't all that flashy but I buy phones for functionality, not for looks like some of these phone gurus.
Agreed
yep atleast it has removable battery.
Exactly
I actually can't believe no other phone company thought of that.
James Bond yep 👍🏼

Just got this phone today. I am loving it completely.
Hows the quaddac experienced?
i was not expecting lg v20 to be this great .lg did a great job this time
Do my eyes deceive me? A phone with a premium build that features a removable battery? I like this phone already.
But I wish the design was as brash and bold as the V10 though.
Dying breed, bro
Better than explosive note 7
with a shitty battery that's why you get a removable so you can swap after like 45 mins of watching videos.

Honestly the best phone review I have watched is such a long time. It was honestly so refreshing
I was not expecting the LG V20 to be this great. Congrats LG, finally stepped up. I have confidence the G6 will be better. I can't wait to see a comparison/review of this, the note 7, and the iPhone 7+.

+Jay Bugatti oh okay then how about Htc 11?
I'm in love. I prayed to get a new V10 this year and it happened... Just exquisite.
Basically what the G5 should have been.
Yeah basically, but this has a bigger screen. That friends module was the worst gimmick I've seen from a phone manufacturer.
+gladwin miguel agreed
+gladwin miguel At least they tried something new.
+09Mrsubaru trying something new.? Lenova/Motorola also tried something new with thier version of how modular design should be, and thier version is a much much better way of implementing modular design.

it's amazing to hear you ask more questions about the Phone than I originally had before watching this review..
love your reviews Michael, waiting for your LG v20 review
Just ordered refurbished one with extra battery, case and screen protector, under 200.00 usd, 90 day warranty. We'll see...
Good review! Thanks for the work.
Hi! Are you still using the V20 now?
In my opinion LG should takes some notes from other smartphone manufacturers. Try to slim down your Android skin not make it less and less like stock.
new drop down is really close to stock. even the animations are the same. unlike previous versions
uh, bro..
LG's UX overlay is the closest to stock out of all of the OEMs.. not counting BBM maybe. This video came as a Recommandation in 2021, i had the V20 back in 2017 until 2019
I feels Soooo nostalgic right now💜
Michaels going to get 1 million subs in a few months, I garuntee it
I couldn't believe it when I saw he had like 150K... I still can't believe he doesn't have way more than that.
he sud get even more subscribers , he deserve it , the best electronic gadgets reviewer .
Harambe would have been proud
+Humberto Hernandez
In case you didn't know: He was the best reviewer at pocketnow, few fans know that he started his own channel.
Mike Hamilton Had no idea. That's good.
Thank you for providing just the important facts about the product. Some other channels didn't do such a great job, I love your channel, keep up the good work.
I'd like to see your final verdict on this phone. It probably doesn't warrant a second video, but that's a shame since it's an incredible phone.
Amazing audio quality and recording, manual video with great stabilization, probably best camera on the market, removable battery, IR blaster, and military drop protection. Holy shit I'm definitely getting this.
Full review please.
I wonder how you generate different ideas than other reviewers in presentation of your videos. Its simply awesome.
When are you going to do an in depth review of this phone?
Holly hell a manual video recording mode !!! I just f**cking love that V20 !
hey Michael, when will be the review will arrive for the v20??
its been long time man...i thought you quit from the industry. you are the best.
I quitted everything and watching this video lol
Yup. Studying can wait ;)
Quit*
pisse3000 I wasn't studying I was tweeting and checking socials lol
I was stuck on the wrong side of TH-cam.... Mr Mobile saved me! Words are not enough to thank this dude :)
Im late for my class and m still watching this... oh now im even commenting! 🛫🛫🛫
Im liking this phone so far.. cant wait to check it once it comes out officially there in dubai. My v10 is one of my fav android phones. Huawei p9 plus is my number one at this moment.
Great hands on, how about full review?
Thats the best comment on smartphones review I'd heard: "The extra screen should be at the bottom"
Subscribed! I have been looking for you Michael since pocketnow.
I prefer it at the top. If it was at the bottom, more accidents of bumping it.
are you going to do a full review
Thank you!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that the secondary screen should be at the bottom. That goes for a bunch of other design and control elements on android as well...
Hey Michael, what software do you edit/animate with? Looks good.
FCPX! And thanks!
+MrMobile [Michael Fisher] sweet! I'm gonna have to take a look. I'm versed in Premiere Pro for my videos, but I'm always looking to spruce them up. And seriously, they look sharp!
Wait what? I thought it's AE!
+nazhif1 I imagine some of it was animated in AE and imported.
+MrMobile [Michael Fisher] when are you going to review the axon 7
I like everything about my V 20 especially the IR blaster. I loved shutting off for changing the channel on public TV’s.
where is the review
Dream phone. Excellent phone. we guys wanted flagship phone with removable battery and this is it
I'm expecting audio battles between this LG V20 and the Axon 7 in the future..
And HTC 10✌️
Exactly what I'm waiting for.
moto z
It won!
Michael is the man! this is what the G5 *should have* been!
Will we still get the earphones in the US?
***** Thanks. AT&T better not take it away. Although, it seems like something they would do.
+Orlando Camacho we most likely will not get these earphones in the US. The carriers here don't like anyone messing around with their branding. They'd love to slap a $5 pair of cheapies in that box with their logo on it lol. Especially AT&T.
Can't wait for the in depth review for this.
Am I the only one that misses the back buttons?
+Jiyaad lai you are not.
+MrMobile [Michael Fisher] good to know I'm not riding solo on the idea
You are definitely not! 😞💔
exactly, Im not sure why they put the volume buttons on the side like all the phones.
They went to crap on my v10 so I don't miss them
If the camera reviews of this phone is good for recording and taking pictures this is gonna be a good phone to keep in mind
Well, I find the V10 prettier.
V10 was much better
v10 is still the sexiest looking phone on the market
these videos are really very well produced mike . this is much better than when you were with Pocketnow
Where is the review ...

Just picked this up 7 years later. Removable battery here I come. Sadly I won't be using it on network for long. Data sure but volte barely functions on the sprint models. Thank god I use text now for actual calling.
It's all good and all, but that battery capacity doesn't look promising.
That would be a deal breaker. Hopefully that's not the case.
3200 mah ain't bad and overlooking the fact that it's removable is a bad choice
+Ilistray I overlooked that fact too while watching the video. Oh how the times were when phones got extended batteries from zero lemon and other companies. Now just expensive battery covers (iPhone ones are all $50-$100, android users are smart and buy better powerbanks)
Boe Dillard it comes with 2 removable batteries.
Boe Dillard man I just watched a a review video where the guy talking about the phone had a battery already in and one in the box. if im wrong then just tell me don't have to be a smart ass about it.
I have the V10 and I love it, I might have to pick this one up too.
Shutup and take my money!!!!
LMAK
Lmao*
Yeah man. LG take it out of ma pocket av given u da authority.
But u have none.
they've leverage the space taking up by the front facing camera to put the secondary display. Putting a secondary display at the bottom will get in the way of the navigation keys and that, it will ticks a lot of people.

The 6p from last year is, in my opinion, still the best phone on the market. It will be difficult for Google to top that.
Neil Johnson
Have to say I agree. I'd never seen/held one until a few days ago when my coworker got one. It's so nice!
Nexus 6P owner here. It seems like the battery management in Nougat is legit; I've been getting like 3 more hours per days with this guy. It used to die on me by 5pm from 7 in the morning... now it's 8pm and the phone is at 10%
reduce the display size to 5.2 and i'd buy it haha
Stumbled onto your channel for the first time. Great hands-on video. Subbed.
Looks like shit until the back popped out and my jaw just dropped.
lol like wtf
still shit
I was thinking the same thing.. lol
+rikelbis1 aaaw..hey people look a aijphoney user..how cute...
rkl08551 ahh?
I like how the back just pops off, damn cool
I'm sick of getting shafted because I live in North America. Can I have some Exynos love? Can I please have B&O tuning with B&O earbuds? WTF! Complete and utter bullshit!!!
Other regions get shafted on pricing. You win some you lose some.
+Marky Marc you're right. Here in Brazil these phones are very expensive. That's it if they get commercialized here.
Caio Canto I feel for you guys. I buy several flagships a year, but if I were in a Brazil I definitely couldn't do that. They mark up the phones drastically there and gimp them sometimes like the G5.
The US always get stuff cheaper, the Nexus 6p was nearly $625 in the UK. So we getting a much better chipset and better speakers seems only fair.
You could always import one you know, if you really want those devices
THANK YOU LG. WILL BE BUYING.
the phone I have been waiting for, thank God 😊
This is awesome for me as the V10 for some unknown reason was never on Sprint, but Sprint confirmed today that this phone will be! Looksto be a great upgrade from my S5! It even apparently has an IR blaster!
I might be upgrading from the s5 to this also, especially since it has an ir blaster.... I'm just not really liking the back design that much

I love the removable battery is the best feature it has. And they did the impossible by still having a metallic back. Wish the Note 7 had done this.
This is what the G5 was meant to be. I will wait for the next Google phone and final camera comparisons between the big guns before I decide to get my first flagship
The effects in the video are amazing. Riding the line between enough and too much just perfectly. I love it! How do you do it, Mr. Fisher?
i watched all of your vids man! keep up the great work!
The specs are badass, that AND Micro SD expansion? Like holy shit
It's a bit safe but I think it may be the one to take the place of my G3. The return to a traditional removable battery is a plus IMO and oh my the lovely Micro SD. It's specs are very nice.
Keep this coming! #MrMobile4President
Love the v20 no regreats great phone
I agree about having the second screen on the bottom. This would be awesome because you could have your navigation buttons on that second screen instead of taking up real estate on the main screen. Also that second screen could span the whole width of the phone instead of being cut short because of the front facing camera. If the second screen was on the bottom, it would be such a hit. Also, I would consider using a different type of screen for the second screen, maybe using what they use for e-ink on the Pebble watch. It would save on battery, and would provide the same functionality, especially in terms of always being on.
Great video as always Michael! 😊
Wow.. great hands-on vid
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the review. I'm glad I did not wait for it. Loved my G2 - the LG of late does not make me want to purchase.
Great video :) Thx a lot.
I personally love the v20 design, it looks really stealthy
I've been waiting for this
Traded in my Note 4 for a V20 and loving it.
Best Technology Channel on TH-cam 🔥
Micheal, you're right.. Maybe they should've kept the secondary display on bottom. But, I personally think we'd be totally hitting it instead of navigation bar, which is also in the "bottom". Just an opinion, but even I think it'd be looking cool on the bottom.
Hey Mike, thanks for the proper video. Any possibility to make a comparison video with the one plus 3? Feels as they are both on the same playing field. Minus removable battery. Of course 99% of phones out there are built on a permanent battery foundation. Thanks again!
Mr Mobile, did you ever do a full review of the V20? Interested in knowing your thoughts.
Probably will be the best phone of 2016 👏👍👌
I was hoping the V20 would have an even more rugged design with waterproofing.
I live my V10 and there's no doubt I'll love my V20!
+mLevon OFFICIAL preference, that's what differentiates us all
+mLevon OFFICIAL I've had ZERO issues with my battery in my V10.
This is the best hands on video 👍
THE VOICE OF MOBILE TECH RIGHT THERE.
Great first impression!
design wise it looks amazing given the removable battery and expandable storage capabilities and the second screen should be on the bottom as you mentioned.
The V20 looks to be my only choice for a high end 2016 phone with both a removable battery and expandable storage on my carrier.
