    Thanks for making China history in early computing known. That was very interesting and the model is great!

    This was a really nice video.
    So interesting to see the Chinese signs on the front panel. My brain connects front panels with Latin characters, and Chinese with text and art. It was beautiful

    This is astonishingly high-effort content, well done! Thanks for your insights on the historical development of Chinese computers.
    I'm especially glad (and impressed) that you decided to make your personal model of the computer fully functional rather than just aesthetic.

    Is the documentary at the end of the video "China's First Computer - 103" available somewhere ? Thanks !

      Hi, the documentary "China's First Computer - 103" was taken by China Computer Federation (www.ccf.org.cn/) , I will ask them if they can upload the video to youtube. Thanks.

    WoW. Fascinating !! Project.
    Are there any English documents of that computer architecture. It would be fun to replicate on FPGA board.

    • @geeklogic
      @geeklogic  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Thanks for watching. I didn't find any architecture document in English for 103 even for its prototype Soviet M-3 computer. I uploaded a Chinese version of M-3 Computer Architecture (almost same as 103) on archive.org. You may download it for your referrence. archive.org/details/m-3_20250113

    some are bound to frown upon this great piece, as not showing mao in an evil setting automatically constitutes a 'prop-gan-da', because 'god forbidden' he could revive a dying china without the need of kowtowing to or being enslaved by the west

    Very good. Australia had a similar history with the earlier computers. I went through university in the mid-1970s and the original researchers from the 1950s were still lecturing.

    How did he have a Post Office Box in Kowloon? Is this the same Kowloon City, outside of Hong Kong I visited in the early Nineties?

    • @geeklogic
      @geeklogic  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, it's the same Kowloon in HongKong. Hua first returned to Hong Kong from the United States, and after a short stay, returned to Beijing on March 16, 1950.

    The Yinhe-1 Supercomputer at th-cam.com/video/dZVLAG2159I/w-d-xo.html sure looks a lot like Cray-1 😁😁😁

      @@HyyskanPolttaja Yes, Yinhe-1 learned some of Cray's design, but the internals are different. My friend Si Hongwei wrote a book about Yinhe-1 computer, which was just published recently, but it is only available in Chinese. It contains a comparison between Yinhe-1 and Cray.

      No, Yinhe-1 is not a simple clone of the Cray, but it learned some of Cray's design. My friend Si Hongwei wrote a book about Yinhe-1 computer, which was just published recently, but it is only available in Chinese.

      @@geeklogic, thanks for the info... I had hoped that the programs developed for the Yinhe-1 would complement those available for the Cray-1. Hopefully, better efforts were made to preserve the software of the Yinhe-1 compared to the Cray-1.

    What are the checkpoints on the road for?
    We do not have a single one in Germany.
    No toll stations, no police station, no lizense plate check, no face recognition, no automated searching for bad guys
    just to say.

    • @geeklogic
      @geeklogic  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's toll station.

    • @thomasw2509
      @thomasw2509 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@geeklogic I do not agree.
      Even in Germany bridges with transponder readers have been installed (regarding commercial users), but of course these Maut-Brücken could be used for the formentioned purposes easily, if there is the interest to do so.
      I personally argue, the PRC authories have a very strong interest and they do so. surveilance, tracking, suppressing poeple.
      YOU can not convince me the other way.
      Sorry.

    • @geeklogic
      @geeklogic  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@thomasw2509 I don't want to convince you, but it is just a simple toll station. You have a stereotype about China. Now China has a 240-hour visa-free policy. Come to China and see the facts with your own eyes. Don't believe what the media says.
