Fight Tips are good for when you have no choice.

WolfPresident Basically. From what I learned in competition sports like Muay Thai, you really don't want to use techniques developed for the ring in real life and vice versa. While it may be very smart to bring your crotch between your oponent and your abdomen/chest in a clinch in the ring, it's not a good idea to do so in real life. If you grab an opponent's finger in real life self defense situation, use it for submission/break, but don't think of it in a ring....
Bob Jones When I used to do Karate there were a bunch of illegal moves, because you could possibly kill/seriously wound someone. That's not what the sport was about, but I would use those techniques if my life was threatened in a street fight. If someone had a knife then I'd quite happily break their bones and disable them. In the sport you're not fighting for your life, you're fighting for points and it's completely different.
Hey guys another tip i have is like, if you know a bunch of cool techniques.. dont think in your head "im gonna grab him knee him then RKO him!!" most times its not gonna work as planned.. So when you get into a fight it should be mostly about reaction. So lets say a guy throws a haymaker and you doge it and can use some cool counter attack, you should have to think about it. that wastes too much time. you should have your moves down so when the time comes to do a sweet counter attack it should be instinct
That is right. Train train train train! Then when you get older, and have a family, and work your ass off to put food on the table, and you have no time to train, and your skills get rusty, that is when you will get attacked with no way out!
fuck cheesy moves stick to a jab and a solid backhand thats a cross for all you non boxers lol and yeah reactions do help you like slipping and evasion but there is no substatue for knowing how to throw punches prop. however you risk breaking your hand if you use boxing strikes i know from first hand expierence i knocked out this guy with a classic backhand but fractured my hand in process i won the battle lost the war lol if possible strike with your palm to soft areas of face and body or learn the hard way i am a boxer and i am saying this.
Doge'ing people is the most effective such technique. Just kidding. Like most people said, you need to spar. No exceptions. You need to get punched while performing techniques, because that is the environment you will be using them in. In a fight, you will be under constant pressure and will get hit, nobody is going to wait for you to practice your gameplan the way you want to do.
when you had to punch your "enemy" first, hit him a fast as you can in the stomach and then a powerful punch in the face... that works EVER.. when you do it right
I usually hang back a moment in a street fight let the fight come to me. Im verry good at slipping or the bob & weave technique. I take what the other guy gives me. Usually the other person is wide open. Not like I've been in more than 7 street or school yard fights. I did box a little in my late teens to mid 20s. Started in the army continued for a couple years after I got out. Never went pro. I still practice a couple times a week I have a buddy that I spar with sometimes. He still can't hardly ever touch me. Shadow boxing is a great way to stay sharp & in shape.
Palm strike in the nose WILL NOT end with something in your or his brain, and it CAN NOT kill, that is just a movie crap ! But that is a good way to knock someone out, normal strike in the nose will not do much because of the all adrenaline, there can be blood but it will not do as much as a Palm strike in the nose ...
You have to fight to learn to fight...learn the techniques then spar. Boxing teaches you real fighting because you get hit, you learn by that. You learn what really works, what doesn't, you learn range, blocking and slipping punches, and balance and keeping calm in a fight. All the kids today want a youtube video to learn how to fight...hahahaha go to a boxing gym get hit, you find out it hurts and fighting is really tough to learn. Then quit, go to a karate gym pretend fight and not get hit and get a certificate that says you can fight, or watch you tube videos all day .hahahaha that is normally how that works...
Yeah, karate today is pretty stupid, but boxing only trumps karate because of actual spars. Boxing would lose to any other martial arts if they were doing full contact sparring because boxing only teaches you how to use your hands and neglects elbows, legs and knees, not to mention you're fighting with gloves on, so you have a more open block and the punch still won't hit you because of the massive gloves. But I guess it beats nothing.
you clearly never faought a real boxer trust i box i did other martial arts they dont work in a street enviroment throwing punches is the main stay of any fight 9 out of 10 fights the best punching art is boxing think about it if you box well you will have an upperhand on someone who is just a street fighter.Plus fighting a carded boxer is diffferent to fighting someone who thinks they can box trust.
Agree with slim killer, boxers actually practice fighting by beating the living hell out of each other every night. Nothing can replace live combat, all other martial arts are practiced in a fake controlled scenario with the exception of ju jitzu. As far as stand up, boxing is far superior because it is practiced live and no pretend fighting can ever replace that.
What if it's the first fight in your life? Would you still use the same approach? From what I've seen on recorded street fights (LOL) it's not an option to be defensive and block shots. Non-fighters are just too slow and sloppy to pick their shots. The majority of novice fights I've seen are won by whoever happens to land the first wild haymayker.
BenRangel you may have already found a solution but honestly if you've never fought and you feel like you're going to be put into a fight. best option is to find someone to spar against asap. the difference having spars will make is tremendous. and yes for a first time fighter these tips won't change allot. someone already said it but best way to learn to fight is to experience fighting as close as you can ( sparring ) and learn there. because a split decision can be the reason you lost some teeth taking a hard hit to the face or not.
The best defense is not to fight. If you happen to be in a position where that's not an option, my tip would be to take a deep breath and concentrate. Look the opponent in the eyes and strike hard and fast without any wild movements. The comment from Dom is silly. Don't go straight into sparring with a friend. Work on your fitness and agility. Training is key.
a street fight is not a boxing match. Your only defense should be the other guy laying on the ground incapable of fighting back.every effort you make to move any limb should be in a strike or strike counter-measure. when you defend (block punches with your hands) you give the person time to think about why they are missing or what they want to do next. Let them feel what your doing rather then watch what you are doing.
Janne Flinck just trip them up with your leg(like what the do against a cage in mma) after you block, bring them closer, closer you are the harder it is for an inexperienced fighter to do damage.
From what I've seen, you don't do much with the legs. The legs are some of the (Naturally) most powerful muscles! If you couldn't hold up 100-200 pounds on your legs, or more falling, then what use are they? Certain kicks can be extremely powerful when trained, and yet fast. Roundkick, for example. Bring up your leg in a round motion with your foot coming back torwards your butt, and throw it at him, preferably at the head, ancle extended. Quick, and powerful if trained, but leaves your legs open for a snapkick if you aren't quick and careful. You should do more with kicks. Also, if they are getting all up in your grill when you dont want em there, a sidekick will push their asses far away. As the name suggests, it goes to the side, so bring your foot up, knee as far up as possible, turn it to the side like a roundkick but dont go back, pull your knee torwards your chest, then push it out.
Look up the turkish boxer video. In a real fight you probably have to run away, circle, and/or backpedal while punching them at the same time, to avoid getting overwhelmed by 3 attackers. Very hard to do that while kicking, I can assure you.
Most of the power in your puches and kicks come from the hips, not so much from the actual leg muscles like quadriceps. You can try throwing a jab without moving your hips and feet, then do it the right way. Same goes with a roundhouse kick, you won't be able to get nearly as much power into it of you don't pivot the non-kicking leg or open your hips. Kicks in street fights aren't very useful anyway. They are easy to grab and anytime you kick you are standing on one leg only, which makes voulnerable to all sorts of counters (takedowns etc.). I think you have no experience in any kind of fighting, m8.
Shane has done several videos on foot work and on foot work drills as well as many on wrestling basics and all that. He would have said in the video description to be versitile if he wasnt because that would be hypocritical of him.
It's one of the most common mistakes in a street fight, someone might just charge at you and try a tack down. Likely they will try and grab your legs, in which you can put a knee through their nose or smash the back of their head in with 20 punches. Or they will try and grab your upper body and try and slam you, break their balls with your knee and put a good hard hit to the side of their temple for a two hit ko. Or it will at lease daze him, just keep punching to the side of his head and if he face gets low enough, knee. When he lets go of you, back away, and knock him out while he's staggered.
Brandon Harrison if you're legit trying to protect yourself and they try to pick u up, shove both ur thumbs (or one thumb if both your hands aren't free) into the attacker's eyes as hard as u can... but only if u fear for your life, because you can blind them or even pull out their eyeballs that way... if they just want to hurt you and not kill you (like a bully), then punch them as hard as you can in their throat (adams apple)... if they put you on their shoulders, then punch as hard as you can at their lower back, away from the spine, closer to their hips, this will target their kidneys, and if you hit hard enough they will drop you instantly and be paralyzed for about a minute giving you time to leave the area.
Yes.90% of the time you can't throw someone after grabbing their face, even if you did its highly unlikely that your adversary is gonna hit the ground.Osoto gaeri is the way to go.
hey could you do some First Aid Tutorials? Cuz last time i was Funfighting with an Friend of mine, i accideltally dislocated his arm... with an Wrestling Armlock... :D Yeah i know maybe it wasnt the best idea... but it was plenty of fun, until he screamed and his Arm Turned Blue. So how to Relocate Bodyparts or do First Aid? When should i Call an Ambulance? Also, what to do when i "Won" in a Streetfight, my oponents lay in front of me and are all more or less wasted. Run away and let things happen or call 911 and get them an Ambulance?
So glad I stumbled upon your channel a few weeks ago. I've bought a punching bag and gloves and wife and I bought bikes and were gonna train together. Yoga just ain't cuttin it and sometimes here in Chicago tempers can fly. Keep up the great work, thanks!
I love haymakers, most people who think they're tough and actually have little to no fighting experience can only throw that kind of punch, not realizing how easy it is to dodge/block it. Makes fights against them much easier and quicker.
I've been going to the gym forever now. I have also just started hitting the bag after discovering your videos. Thank you for your information! I've learned a lot
wow this is the first time I see your video.I know you because someone posted this video in a Chinese social media platform. then I surprisingly find that its uploaded 5 years ago! So glad to see you guys still doing what you like. Best wishes!
I know how to fight just kinda growing up doing it but I watch your vids because they are entertaining and u can never get too much knowledge for defending yourself
Excellent tips, one thing remains always, a fight is chaos, the key is to control that chaos, keep level headed and like you've mentioned be prepared through shit tons of training
Done 2 years of MMA, 3 years of boxing and currently doing ju jitsu but i always find myself remembering these videos when im getting hyped for a fight, take from that what you will
Learn a nice combo, then learn how to take a hit. Then learn how to throw the combo before he hits you. My favorite combo is jab left jab right, hook left hook right, upper cut left upper cut right. Learning that combo will keep your hands moving in a fight which is utterly vital, and also forces you into your opponents openings.
If dropped a low straight kick to the kneecap it's breaking, but you have to follow up with something to finish the fight. Shane you are right about that you cannot rely on one thing though.
While no expert myself, unless you have a regular sparring partner its going to be difficult to really learn to read and counter opponents effectively. I would think your best bet would be to just shadow box and practice combinations, footwork and changing levels so you can at least reliably do that under pressure. Then you can be more proactive than reactive which is alot easier to do with less training imo.
Fought countless fights since I grew up in a very harsh neighborhood in a third world country. I had to fight almost everyday on my way to school and home. Bigger kids were always trying to mug my lunch money or bully me. Worst days in my life. Good tutorial video, practical and applicable. I did those too though I never aimed for chin or any part in the face except the eyes. I always went for the soft spots like the eyes, neck under the ears, under the chin before the neck, solar plexus, groin.
My brother needs to learn how to fight because he dissent know how so I'm teaching him. You guys gave me some good tips for fighting! I love you guys! I subscribed! You guys are awesome! Thank you so so so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Might i remind you that straight kicks to the knees are illegal in UFC. Low hook kicks are allowed, but not the straight ones. You may kick above or bellow knee caps in the cage.
A good solid technique against the hockey fighting is Omote gyaku tsuki, it's a bujinkan technique that actually works in this situation... Try add this to some future vid, and nice work Shane.
Nice effort dude, I've been training pretty hard for the past 6 months. I've been doing some self directed boxing but I'm not learning heaps that way, I'm looking at starting a Martial Art over the summer
good points, dude.....on the haymaker I've always told my students to lower the chin, and "bump" the attacking arm at the shoulder.....used that a couple times myself so I can say that once or twice with that and they do NOT want to use that arm for long
Awesome videos ! thanks for sharing with us! You gave us some great tips! I been doing Muay Thai for a while now but its always good to learn something different!
All you have to do is 100 Push-Ups 100 Sit-Ups 100 Squats 10KM Running every day without fail for 3 whole years to become so strong and fast that you can win a fight by doing whatever you want.
That would never work on the street... All you have to do is turn arround like you ar about to do a back kick, and drive your knee to the front as fast and strong as you can with a straight back, then put down that knee and drive your other knee the same way... Do that until you are far enough that your oponent cant catch you...
For you guys who think kicks wouldn't be affective, trust me just look up some of the videos of tkd against street fighter... a spinning kick to the stomach could knock the wind out of someone if you train enough like good martial artists you could do a spinning hook kick, tornado kick or if you are okay with getting a bit dirty you could do a rolling kick(enough force to break a nose with ease and or knock then out instantly and remember this doesn't apply if you are getting mugged or jumped... if that is a risk you should train with tonfas, nunchaku, ect and before you guys inform me on how i've "never gotten into a real fight" ill tell you now, ive only gotten into one fight... long story short i ended it with a spinning hook kick

Also, straight kicks to the knees or the crotch are very effective in keeping the distance while dealing a lot of damage.
He's a TKD black belt, you know. He knows this stuff :).
Shane has done several videos on foot work and on foot work drills as well as many on wrestling basics and all that. He would have said in the video description to be versitile if he wasnt because that would be hypocritical of him.
Lol that thing they do with there hands is a gang sign
What about people who start to pick people up at the beginning of the fight?
It's one of the most common mistakes in a street fight, someone might just charge at you and try a tack down. Likely they will try and grab your legs, in which you can put a knee through their nose or smash the back of their head in with 20 punches. Or they will try and grab your upper body and try and slam you, break their balls with your knee and put a good hard hit to the side of their temple for a two hit ko. Or it will at lease daze him, just keep punching to the side of his head and if he face gets low enough, knee. When he lets go of you, back away, and knock him out while he's staggered.
Anthony Williams Ya, if they charge, simply stay calm and you can side step them and do any number of things as you suggest.
Brandon Harrison if you're legit trying to protect yourself and they try to pick u up, shove both ur thumbs (or one thumb if both your hands aren't free) into the attacker's eyes as hard as u can... but only if u fear for your life, because you can blind them or even pull out their eyeballs that way... if they just want to hurt you and not kill you (like a bully), then punch them as hard as you can in their throat (adams apple)... if they put you on their shoulders, then punch as hard as you can at their lower back, away from the spine, closer to their hips, this will target their kidneys, and if you hit hard enough they will drop you instantly and be paralyzed for about a minute giving you time to leave the area.
is grabbing somebodies face and throwing them to the ground considered a mistake??
no, there really are no mistakes in street fights
EXACTLY!!!!
doggo
Yes.90% of the time you can't throw someone after grabbing their face, even if you did its highly unlikely that your adversary is gonna hit the ground.Osoto gaeri is the way to go.
No I like a hook to the face and them grabbing them and throwing them
I want to see real fight between you and someone else Like KIMBO
ComedyShortsGamerVlog kimbos dead
hey could you do some First Aid Tutorials?
Cuz last time i was Funfighting with an Friend of mine, i accideltally dislocated his arm... with an Wrestling Armlock... :D Yeah i know maybe it wasnt the best idea... but it was plenty of fun, until he screamed and his Arm Turned Blue. So how to Relocate Bodyparts or do First Aid? When should i Call an Ambulance?
Also, what to do when i "Won" in a Streetfight, my oponents lay in front of me and are all more or less wasted. Run away and let things happen or call 911 and get them an Ambulance?
I know how it looks on WWE.
You know... at least im trying.

How refreshing. A couple of guys who don't take themselves too seriously.
Cool vid. Thanks.
I love that your videos are helpful and detailed, but very quick.
wow this is the first time I see your video.I know you because someone posted this video in a Chinese social media platform. then I surprisingly find that its uploaded 5 years ago! So glad to see you guys still doing what you like. Best wishes!
I know how to fight just kinda growing up doing it but I watch your vids because they are entertaining and u can never get too much knowledge for defending yourself
My favorite line " your gonna get cracked in the dome son!" I love it. Oh, the in's & out's of the "sweet science"
Yo shane thanks for all the informative and quality videos. My friend and I practice the techniques you go over in your vids. Keep it up!
Shane once again, nice video I always new these were mistakes but I just didn't know how counter
Excellent tips, one thing remains always, a fight is chaos, the key is to control that chaos, keep level headed and like you've mentioned be prepared through shit tons of training
Done 2 years of MMA, 3 years of boxing and currently doing ju jitsu but i always find myself remembering these videos when im getting hyped for a fight, take from that what you will
Love these videos. Keep them coming!
Im struggling with bullies.... this really helps thank you guys very much!
I love this guy. I'm learning a lot just watching and practicing he is legit
Hahaha nice one Ant "get cracked in the dome" got me there 😂😂
"Aggressiveness is important"
*Glances over at the other dude slouched over with a small smirk*
Learn a nice combo, then learn how to take a hit. Then learn how to throw the combo before he hits you. My favorite combo is jab left jab right, hook left hook right, upper cut left upper cut right. Learning that combo will keep your hands moving in a fight which is utterly vital, and also forces you into your opponents openings.
Thank u so much man I got into a fight and diddnt know what to do but when I saw ur videos I now know how to defend my self
If dropped a low straight kick to the kneecap it's breaking, but you have to follow up with something to finish the fight. Shane you are right about that you cannot rely on one thing though.
While I was practicing soccer I got bashed with punches by someone on drugs. And now I’m here to know what to do when that happens again.
I love the "if all you have to do" part, fact there's never a sure fire way to win a fight.
You may kick above or bellow knee caps in the cage.
anderson silva ABOVE THe knee. It's illegal to kick straight at the knee.
Love your videos bro, keep makin em every week :)
AWESOME VIDEO DUDE!!!! LOVED IT quite funny too
Thank for tips, now Grandma doesn't stand a chance!
It's crazy the amount of videos out there of people throwing haymakers and missing wildly on youtube.
Great video bro. You're very talented. Only thing i could say; keep it up!
A good solid technique against the hockey fighting is Omote gyaku tsuki, it's a bujinkan technique that actually works in this situation... Try add this to some future vid, and nice work Shane.
those fight tips are so helpfu, thanks for the video
Nice effort dude, I've been training pretty hard for the past 6 months. I've been doing some self directed boxing but I'm not learning heaps that way, I'm looking at starting a Martial Art over the summer
good points, dude.....on the haymaker I've always told my students to lower the chin, and "bump" the attacking arm at the shoulder.....used that a couple times myself so I can say that once or twice with that and they do NOT want to use that arm for long
Another great video shane
I like the environment in the video. Great lighting, I would think it would come out darker than what it appears.
Good tips. A lot of guys like to wind up before throwing looping punches. Big mistake.
One good trick is to never be stiff but to always be loose
You should make a video on basic street fighting strategy for beginners like what to throw when and how to read and react
I was wondering if you had any public videos of you in a REAL fight on the internet or something? By the way, your videos are awesome. Keep it up.
I'm recently liking your lesson videos.keep it up bro.I'm Kyokushin karateka.OSU!
love your work and videos, man. lots of great info that most ppl do not have access to. keep in touch id love to trade ideas with you.
wow old school brings up memories
thanks for the vid! hugs from Spain
That first collar grabbing one; probably the easiest to defend - in my experience of Wado Ryu karate and street fighting.
Smart thinking and right thinking 👍👍👍
Awesome videos !
thanks for sharing with us!
You gave us some great tips!
I been doing Muay Thai for a while now but its always good to learn something different!
thank you Shane for the video!
All you have to do is 100 Push-Ups
100 Sit-Ups
100 Squats
10KM Running
every day without fail for 3 whole years to become so strong and fast that you can win a fight by doing whatever you want.
one punch man?
Wassup shane, Can you start like a video series of combnation punches?? and im a big fan of your vids , Keep it up
Good vid,you really break it down well, step by step.wish we had u tube when I was younger, wouldn't have had to learn it all the hard way!
That would never work on the street... All you have to do is turn arround like you ar about to do a back kick, and drive your knee to the front as fast and strong as you can with a straight back, then put down that knee and drive your other knee the same way... Do that until you are far enough that your oponent cant catch you...
For you guys who think kicks wouldn't be affective, trust me just look up some of the videos of tkd against street fighter... a spinning kick to the stomach could knock the wind out of someone if you train enough like good martial artists you could do a spinning hook kick, tornado kick or if you are okay with getting a bit dirty you could do a rolling kick(enough force to break a nose with ease and or knock then out instantly and remember this doesn't apply if you are getting mugged or jumped... if that is a risk you should train with tonfas, nunchaku, ect
and before you guys inform me on how i've "never gotten into a real fight" ill tell you now, ive only gotten into one fight... long story short i ended it with a spinning hook kick
