The cost of Japan’s stability is dynamism and reform. Time and again even small changes to work laws and immigration go unchanged to preserve the status quo. The weak yen now is because Japan cannot stand to make difficult changes to their economic policies so instead do the stable thing and print more money.

The Bank of Japan can't print more money because they have huge national debt! Super big problem.

As an outsider looking at Japan, we don't want you to "change". Obviously we want Japan to be prosperous, healthy and peaceful, but we don't want Japan to stop being what makes it special and unique. Mass immigration would destroy Japan, robbing it of its culture, and history. If you look at Europe and North America, this is happening right now and the locals are sick of it. Japan can have diversity by advocating "the Japanese way" of doing things to the rest of the world. One thing I think will have to change is the work culture - the low birthrate is because people are too busy and tired to marry and do the necessary deed to make babies. If you give husbands and wives more time together, they will solve that one. The other thing that you will probably be forced to change is your bureaucratic processes in business and government to make them more efficient and release workers into the private sector. But no change should come at the cost of losing the soul of your culture.

I appreciate your comment. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, opinions, and valuable information. Yes, our mindset has to change first because we can choose officials through elections. We need to speak up about things that are really important. There's a huge gap in perception between politicians and the public. We shouldn't neglect judging their actions either.
