Great video! Thank you for the detailed breakdown. I am on a fence between TCR and SL 8 Aero. I enjoy climbing and never had an Aero bike. After 1 year of riding, would you still recommend this bike? Thanks
Hi, Thank you for the support :) I think the Canyon and the TCR would be great choices for climbing. I think you can also throw on a pair of climbing wheels for the mountain days, and the aero wheels for the fast flats :)
Yea , buying online always comes with that uncertainty factor. I did use the online generator and it was pretty accurate, hopefully my video helps you out with finding the right size
Hi, I bought this model a year ago but with sram/etap drivetrain version which has less wires :) The bike is great, very responsive , very fast, and very good /light on climbing. The only point that I wasn't too happy was the wheels (DT Swiss spline db) but I replaced them this year with zipp 303s carbon which made the bike faster than I expected :)) So it's a great bike in my opinion. However, finding the right size was a crucial point for me because 2 years ago I bought a canyon Ultimate CF SL rim brake even much lighter and faster but with a different geometry for the same size (M) which gave me a lot of headaches and I was forced to sell it. So, bike is great but their sizes do not fully correspond with everyone's anatomy.
This bike was really easy to assemble th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
Hey the aero wheels will be alot faster on flats roads. Normal ones will be better overall for climbs and daily riding. So it really depends on what type of riding you are going to do.

Hmmm you will be slightly taller than me, i personally think that the M would be the better fit, but if you want to have a more aggressive ride then S would be better, but yes, you would need a longer aerobar. Hard choice really, but i think both options will work

Also how did you find the 390 mm bars, I’m about your height but fairly broad shouldered and currently on 420mm bars, which were stock with my first road bike, so I don’t have any experience with different bar widths.
Hey !! The ultimate will be faster on flats because it is more aero, the wheels and cockpit. Personally I like riding with narrower handle bars, I find them more comfortable. It takes a while to get used to, before I rode on 42 as well and gradually went to 40/38. Honestly it is just preference, if 42 feels fine, then there's no need to change it
