  • We were tasked with fitting some Ecoscape Slatted Composite Cladding to a new concrete block extension on an older house that has undergone an extensive renovation. The end result is a super slick, neat modern contemporary feel that we very much like. #claddinginstallation #composite #cladding #renovation #homeextension

    super detailed and informative video, plenty tricks and details to plan and look out for - thank you mate!!! Thanks for the detailed video. One thing I don't understand is how the boards joined together for a 2 story house. It seems like a gap is needed between the boards and it has to be covered in a manner not to direct water to the house.

    I found that the gap between the cladding and the batten when installed would be enough to allow air circulation. Having installed vertical battens then horizontal battens before I realised this meant that I have done twice the work that was needed. The product itself is very good and I would use it again.

    • @mindematt
      @mindematt 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @johntob741 So, can I fix just horizontal 50x25 roofing batten and then vertical cladding directly on top? I'm about to order this cladding to finish my loft project dormer, just want to have things done right...

    • @johntob741

      @@mindematt Hi, It's a single batten for me from now on.

    • @UnstoppableTramp
      @UnstoppableTramp 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldnt do that. You will need vertical battens no matter what. It's for airflow so moisture can evaporate upwards. Doing the cladding vertically means you would need horizontal battening too @@mindematt

    Hi Simon, just had my sample pack arrive. New build project so lots of cladding! Might the detail around the windows worked better if you had started at the window/patio doors and worked outwards? Thank you.

    Great video, thank you. How did you complete the gap between the trim in the door reveal and the door frame? I could see the brick work so wondered how that was finished off.

    I buy 1,400 sqf cladding in California, but the retailer doesn’t have a trims for around of windows doors and corners,
    They have only the cladding and the corners

  • @adambradley8645
    @adambradley8645 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello Simon, lovely work as always. Do they not supply some sort of trim detail at the bottom so it finishes neatly over the blockwork. Like some sort of Z piece, so the cladding sits over it and then it sits over the brick or block at the bottom, I think that would give you a nicer detail at the bottom, would you not agree.
    Atb to you and mark 👍

    Nice work, i have a couple of questions if that's ok?
    1. Do regs not require counter battening for vertical cladding to allow airflow?
    2. Ho to you attach the house wrap to the block work prior to battening?
    Thanks for the content, i'm going to ask for some samples of that cladding as it looks really nice.

    • @simonbowler1
      @simonbowler1  ปีที่แล้ว

      In this instance the house wrap was fixed directly to the house and trapped by the battens.
      Best thing to do is check with your building controller to understand what they want on your project.

    • @mark4521
      @mark4521 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally agree. There is no continuous airflow. For timber you would need the vertical strapping. Perhaps this composite material does not need it.
