    super detailed and informative video, plenty tricks and details to plan and look out for - thank you mate!!! "allowances for expansion & contraction also in mitres - WELL NOTED"... also, on a lighter note, looking at your size: Man, I would not like to be the client disputing your invoices... 😂 all-round - just brilliant!!! 👊

    Lovely job mate. So house wrap goes straight to wall. (No need to counter battern) got to do mine but thought you needed air gap behind house wrap as well?

    Thanks for the detailed video. One thing I don't understand is how the boards joined together for a 2 story house. It seems like a gap is needed between the boards and it has to be covered in a manner not to direct water to the house.

      As you can see in the video, we're fitting it to the outside of an extension, it'll be in the rain, sun, snow everything.

  • @johntob741

    I found that the gap between the cladding and the batten when installed would be enough to allow air circulation. Having installed vertical battens then horizontal battens before I realised this meant that I have done twice the work that was needed. The product itself is very good and I would use it again.

    • @mindematt
      @mindematt ปีที่แล้ว

      @johntob741 So, can I fix just horizontal 50x25 roofing batten and then vertical cladding directly on top? I'm about to order this cladding to finish my loft project dormer, just want to have things done right...

    • @johntob741
      @johntob741 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mindematt Hi, It's a single batten for me from now on.

    • @UnstoppableTramp
      @UnstoppableTramp 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I wouldnt do that. You will need vertical battens no matter what. It's for airflow so moisture can evaporate upwards. Doing the cladding vertically means you would need horizontal battening too @@mindematt

      OK thanks for reply. I suppose the key question is are bc happy with this? I can't find any info on manufacture instructions for this. Really don't want to counter battern if not needed?

      I did and they said they are making a new deeper trim. Couldn’t give me a date. Definitely a fault with the standard end trim how it can’t cover 25mm 😫👎🏻 specially when you’re paying top money for the product!

    Nice work, i have a couple of questions if that's ok?
    1. Do regs not require counter battening for vertical cladding to allow airflow?
    2. Ho to you attach the house wrap to the block work prior to battening?
    Thanks for the content, i'm going to ask for some samples of that cladding as it looks really nice.

    • @simonbowler1
      @simonbowler1  ปีที่แล้ว

      In this instance the house wrap was fixed directly to the house and trapped by the battens.
      Best thing to do is check with your building controller to understand what they want on your project.

    • @mark4521
      @mark4521 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree. There is no continuous airflow. For timber you would need the vertical strapping. Perhaps this composite material does not need it.

    • @northernninja4734
      @northernninja4734 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes regs require double batton for air flow plus moisture can't travel down on tyvek because of horizontal batton

    This will leak like a sieve. The laps don't sit tight because of the clips... and with 7 months each year of the UK pouring rain... Oh my goodness!
    Looks good but a terrible system for water ingression!

    Hello Simon, lovely work as always. Do they not supply some sort of trim detail at the bottom so it finishes neatly over the blockwork. Like some sort of Z piece, so the cladding sits over it and then it sits over the brick or block at the bottom, I think that would give you a nicer detail at the bottom, would you not agree.
    Atb to you and mark 👍
