I weigh them every morning, so I can tell by their weights, their markings & coloring (make note of them as they are being born) and their gender. When they are being born, number each pup, write down the time of births, weight, marking/colors, and gender. You can also get colored collars for them and tell them apart that way. Tying a different colored ribbon or piece of yarn around the neck helps, just be sure to loosen the ribbon or yarn as the puppies grow so they don't end up choking. Also make sure it's loose enough so the puppy can breathe, but won't slip off. If you don't feel comfortable putting something around the neck, a colored string around one of the front paws works too, but again, loosen the string as the pup grows to avoid injury. If you notice the string is getting tight, take it off and replace it with a looser one until you can purchase a collar.

What temp is heating pad on
90-80°F for the first 2 weeks, then slowly lower the temperature to room temp by the time they are 1 month old.
