A really helpful video that I'll refer back to when I get my rolling mill. I also live in a cool marine climate, where moisture and rust on metal surfaces can be an ongoing problem. I suspect it would be a disaster to get any rust on those rollers, as any pitting will transfer to the metal rolled out--and would be impossible to fix with my tools. Keeping everything well-oiled is a great plan. I've also been told that wax/oil based metal preservatives like Boeshield T-9 work a little better than straight oil, because they seal off from any dirt accumulation that will draw in moisture and salt. Of course, covering the mill when not in use should help a lot.

You're spot on Kurt. David (at Pepe tools) suggested rather than WD40 spray which i mentioned, I should use something a little thicker that will cling better. I'm not familiar with Boeshield T-9. But your point is correct. the thicker the better really. Dave

If I might add for other viewers--*where* you store tools in your shop will either help prevent or promote corrosion. The best place to keep your expensive steel tools is near a heat source and away from walls that face the outdoors. When your work space cools overnight, the first place moisture will condense is on the windows and exterior walls. If you store tools close to windows or against walls, you run the risk of moisture condensing on the tool and corrosion starting on the surface. Keeping tools near a heater will drive moisture towards the cooler parts of the workshop.

Hi Dave, great tutorials. I need some help - I have the same model as in this video, and the rollers have become a bit uneven. Very frustrating when making bezel wire! I wrote to Pepe a couple of months ago and haven't heard, and then I remembered you. Anyway, I would love to know how to fix this. Thank you.

really simple. remove the little bracket at the top that holds down the T-bar. remove the T bar. you can now turn each of the top cogs independently. Torn both cogs down until the rollers are flush "and parallel" together. adjust as necessary. replace the T bar. Job done. Hope this makes sense. you can see me doing this with a cheap indian mill here.... Dave th-cam.com/video/UYFBb4wL1Nw/w-d-xo.html

That's correct, Silica Gel. just like you get in the little packing bags. Never throw them away, put them in your tool boxes to help keep them dry. ! Dave.

Celtic Dreams ho boy! I always trow them out because I thought they absorbed enough in the box and who knows how long they been inside absorbing the humidity. So they are always good and never get saturated whit the humidity?

just pop them near a radiator or out in the sun for an hour - good as new.

I just got my Pepe Tools 160 combination today - I’m so happy I found your video! How often do you oil the rollers and the bushings? Thank you!

Scotchbrite pads, radial discs, silicone wheels, emery paper. or tumbling with ceramic chips. Dave.
