Trail Maintenance Turns Into a Recovery

  • Went out to the Gold Bar Waterfall to do some maintenance and repair the easier route. Right as we pulled up to the Waterfall I lost steering in the wrecker. The hydraulic ram failed internally. As we were heading out there we got a call for a recovery further up the trail then where the maintenance was. Luckily the people were in town so they picked up a ram and brought it out to us so we could repair the wrecker and go on to the recovery. This was an unfortunate accident that resulted in the vehicle being in a bad spot we had to go off trail to get to. We contacted the BLM to get authorization to access it. The gentleman in the vehicle was injured but had been released from the hospital, alcohol wasn't suspected, it was just an unfortunate series of mistakes that led to an accident. Please be safe out there.

I believe that for every situation there 's a certain man and only a certain man that'll be up to the job. This is why you were born, Rory. You are cut out for this. Every recovery, every situation, your unique set of skills puts you far ahead of the pack and this leads to better outcomes than most others. I'm not suggesting you don't have screw-ups, but the skills and gear you bring to the table are unparalleled. Nice one mate!

Lots of respect to you Sir Rory: you're a truly honest, hard-working, transparant, good-hearted, old school, my-word-is-my-honor, generous, thoughtful, tremendously intelligent knowledgeable and resourceful, and that much more humble gentleman deserving of all the praise, respect and recognition in this world. If there were but (10) ten more of you this world would be cured of artificiality and evil that it's plagued with. You shall rise up through the ranks of TH-cam popularity without fakery, façades, trickery and without theatrics and clickbait ... many may dabble in what you do, but no one can be you(r equal), you're ONE-OF-A-KIND! May you be protected by all good spirits and souls, thank you for being you 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

He has a few videos where he does a "front dig' -- It's a maneuver where you disengage the rear axle in the transfer case (it's a twin stick np205 transfer case I believe); where you are only running the front axle, and you hold the rear E-brakes, and the thing will just slide in a circle like it's on a merry-go-round. He does it a little at 23:20 .. I've learned a LOT by watching these guys.

Hey Rory!!! Another bang up recovery job!!!
I love watching the command you have of TrailMater, but must admit, they're ALL white-knucklers for me!! (I'd be the one WALKING and filming for you!!) Scares the bejeebers out of me watching some of the places you take that truck!!!
It's a beautiful part of the country you live in, and the predicaments you haul rigs out of so nonchalantly, all I can say is WOW!!!
(NICE JOB ON THE TRAIL MAINTENANCE ALSO!!!)
    Stay FROSTY.....
    SAFE TRAVELS, FRIEND❤️❤️

These trail rig recoveries tend to be really enjoyable to watch for some reason. Also your production quality has skyrocketed in a really short time. It was about a year ago that I found your channel, but watched just a couple of viedos that really interested me. I suddenly remembered this channels existence about a month ago and decided to check if you've made any videos that I'd like. Watched 2 of your newer videos and instantly subbed. Your expertise in recoveries is something to behold and I'm glad that the filming and editing now completely supplements that! Keep up the good work!

Nice recovery, but when you guys were moving rocks around to fix that climb it reminded me being a kid with friends moving rocks so we could jump our bikes. Thanks for the memories and how fun kid skills can be used later on in life.

I think about the type of vehicle and the driver and the places they go, then I see the guy and vehicle who recovers them when they fail, just WOW!!! Thanks for sharing, people with these skills and vehicles that can do the job are just amazing.

Rory, there is almost a symbiotic relationship between you and the beautiful truck. I am convinced that if there is ever a vehicle that you can't recover, then the only solution will be a helicopter. Fantastic work as usual.
