    I was torn between Taylor and Martin but eventually got a Martin GPC 13e (which is a really nice Guitar). It's definitely worth getting a decent Acoustic, my Martin sounds and plays so much better than my old budget Fender acoustic (which I thought sounded fine until I compared it to a higher end guitar). Great review! Very informative.

    I love that the pattern in the top wood in each guitar is slightly different. I own this guitar which I bought in 2020. Check out the ebony fretboard next time you change your strings and you'll notice that you're putting a LOT of wear into it. That's not a bad thing. I think it says a lot of you as a player.
    It should also be noted that the top is solid wood while the back and sides are laminated. I love my guitar but if it was stolen, I may go for a 314 since it's totally solid and American-made whereas the 214 is made in Mexico.
    Also note that the sound in these guitars will improve with age and the more you play it.

      Check out Marty Music. I am self taught and used a lot of his videos to figure stuff out. His channel was called something else when I first started so I'm not sure what changed exactly. He had a good number of "How to Play" videos and he would break it all the way down to strumming pattern on most songs.. Another amazing resource is Ultimate Guitar. I use their app to find chords and tabs almost every time I play. They are generally user submitted so sometimes you'll run across one that is wrong but usually they will at least get you in the ballpark.

    Thanks for the review Kim - I’m interested in trying one of these guitars and I’ve read reviews that comment on how low the action is and how easy on the fingers it is to play. So I’m wondering whether you feel the guitar is easy to play further down the neck and whether the action remains consistently low? Would the action be more comparable to that of an electric guitar?

    • @KimLachanceMusic
      @KimLachanceMusic  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Matt, I can vet that the action ressembles that of an electric guitar. The recommended string gage is smaller too so that plays into it as well. I would say if you are a shredder, of course it will always somewhat feel like an acoustic but very comfortable compared to anything else you may have tried. To give you an idea, I tried a Godin A6 acoustic in a shop recently and I was disappointed at the feel. The 214ce just beats everyone.

    • @mattmod7603
      @mattmod7603 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KimLachanceMusic Hey Kim, thanks for the reply. I really liked your guitar playing as it showed off the guitar tones nicely. It’s also helpful to have an opinion from someone who has owned the guitar for a while! I’m definitely not a shredder but I do like to play barre chords further down the neck. So was looking at trying some guitars that make it easier to hold down chords at the dusty end! Lighter gauge strings will be a bonus too. Thanks once again, Matt.

    I bought a Taylor 210ce in about 2010 before they began making the 210 and 214 in Mexico What is the difference between the 210ce and 214ce

    • @barondavis5692
      @barondavis5692 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The 210 has a dreadnought shape. It’s bigger and has a fuller sound. c = cut away. e = electric.

    • @KimLachanceMusic
      @KimLachanceMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've only played the 214ce personally, but from what I can see the Plus version has a few added bells ans whistles like the black binding, new tuner pegs and a gloss finish. I don't like gloss finish guitars because I play percussion and like the sound and feel of my fingers directly on the wood. But it's really a matter of personal preference because the difference isn't major between the 2 and the price isn't very different either. But you do get a better gig back with the Plus.
