      Thanks, will check that out, another year later. My node state has two outputs, so maybe the switch is no longer needed? I'm really struggling with this stuff, love your way of leading through logical steps, it's not ideal that things change, but improvements are great too.

    I can't wait for more videos on Node Red. I want to do so much with it, but I am so confused why certain things I try just don't work.
    I have relays for my exterior sprinklers, so I want to be able to water my garden at a certain time if it hasn't rained today, and rain isn't expected today.
    I also have solar pool heating, so I want to turn on the pool solar pump when the temperature outside is above a certain temperature, the time is between a certain timeframe, and my house solar panels have more than a certain amount of wattage being sent back to the grid, which I am pulling from emoncms. Then turn it off if those conditions are no longer met. This one I think will be tricky.
    I have a few basic flows already, and this one video was enough to teach me a few things I was doing wrong! THANKS! Can't wait for more.

    Finally, after many videos, I have apparently found a clear and concise tutorial on Home Assistant and Node-Red. I am brand spanking new to Both and still have a ton of questions. The first question; how does Node-Red fit in with ESPhome? I know once I have created the file in ESPhome I can upload it to the device. That YAML file, created in ESPhome, creates my entities for use in HA.
    Not sure after you place nodes in the workspace what it does when you click on deploy? Does it generate code that is sent to a Device like the NodeMCU? Guess I need to watch more videos.

    I have a suggestion for a workflow, infact 2.
    1: Using the Waze traffic sensor. During 05:00 -> 06:00 Monday to Friday. Turn LIFX bulb on (if off) and then change from normal white to RED if travel time greater than 90 minutes. If travel time drops to less than 90 minutes change bulb to GREEN for 10 seconds. Then return to white colour
    2: For fridge door sensor (simply 433mhz door sensor). When door is opened start timer. If open for more than 30 seconds, use Alexa media player to play message "The fridge door is still open". After 45 seconds another message ... After 1 minute another message. If triggered and it returns to close state get alexa to say "Thank you"

    Thank you Juan! my node red stopped working this summer after the latestupgrade - I thought it was something wrong (it said "This node will be updated to version 1 from 0 (changes)") I searched everywhere on the net for what to do to get the nodes working again, This was the first video that just showed to ignore the datafield and use it like before. Can't believe it was that simple - just press the "done" button again for each of the nodes and re-deploy. Duh! wish someone could have posted that in the GitHub notes, release notes, or anywhere! Again, Huge Thank you!!

    Hi - I am losing the plot at 4.18 where I have to get the entity ID of the state node. My drop down autofill looks nothing like yours and the only option I have is "binary-sensor updater" plus details of my Phillips Hue lights that I have integrated on Home Assistance. Your video and written version show different entries. Isn't the entity ID supposed to relate to the switch on my computer. I am sure if I sort this out I can get this flow to work. Sorry if this is a dumb question as no one else seems to have a problem with this.

    Hmmm... NR 8.1.3 is installed and it’s running, you can enter Configuration but as soon as you try to enter, the courser jumps after every letter into the startposition of line1. (iOS) . That makes it impossible to edit.
    Further the WEB interface does not appear (iOS nor MAC10.15). Re-install doesn’t bring any difference. .... Hmmm

    I am always getting a 503 bad gateway error. Tried everything, uninstalling nodered, restarting it. But no success. Anyone faced the issue? How to rectify it?
    Do I have to make a new homeassistant again?

    How are you detecting that the PC was switched on or off?

      Probably a binary_sensor set to record the results of a ping. That's how I do mine. You can message me if you'd like to see how I configured mine. :)

      @@rross0520 I monitor mine with a ping, but it is not instant since I ping every minute

    • @rross0520
      @rross0520 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it is far from instant. In my case, I ping every 5 seconds, but I have my reasons for that. Still, Home Assistant doesn't update that quickly; usually, there's a delay of about 10-15 seconds when it comes to HA "noticing" that something has changed on the server.

    Juan, I would be willing to buy you a cup of joe if you could help me get my Athom single gang receptacle which monitors all aspects of the washer while running as in current, wattage, voltage, etc. I have tried using Node-Red to report to me the washer is done but have failed. I have asked others to send me their Flow for this project so I could import it and work from there but no luck. Everyone states it is easy to do but no one offers up an example of their setup. Thank you for really enjoying your presentation.

    If you were getting "API Error" like me, make sure you set your domain to "homeassistant" in the service node.

    Hi would you please tell me how can I access to gpio on the raspberry pi in Haasos using node red?

    • @JordanReese
      @JordanReese 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll need to do it through home-assistant, the gpio pins don't get passed to the node-red docker container(aka add-on)

    • @babakhallajian684
      @babakhallajian684 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply but How?

    • @JordanReese
      @JordanReese 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Set up the pins as use the rpi_gpio components in home-assistant to set up the pins and turn them into entities (switch, sensor, binary_sensor, etc) then address those through Node-Red as shown in the video

    • @babakhallajian684
      @babakhallajian684 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, mate but is it working for I2C and Serial as well?

    • @JordanReese
      @JordanReese 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know, I do know that Node-Red doesn't have direct access to those, so it's o ly what you can use through home-assistant

    AT around 8m20s you create a "Is Main Desk Light Off" but the condition you set is "Is ON"
    Then you create a "Is Main Desk Light On" but the condition you set is "Is OFF"
    Shouldn't these be the other way around?!
    What you actually wrote seems to be ...
    If time ... if the light is on ... turn light on
    If the light is off ... turn light off
    When I think you mean ...
    If time ... if the light is off ... turn light on
    If the light is on ... turn light off

    • @JuanMTech
      @JuanMTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      At the time of the video, the condition was set up like that. However, not long after, the developer changed it to the way you mentioned.

    • @sygad1
      @sygad1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I literally tried that today and it didn't work. Noticed that the output was "if the condition is true" which meant, "is the light OFF = true", I swapped them round, works perfectly now
