Mambo Vipi Gods & Goddess, (Hey wassup)
Today we are sharing 10 Things You Should Know Before Moving To Tanzania. A lot of these things, we found out within the duration of our time here, and some we were actually already aware of…
These 10 things that we stated for you before moving to Tanzania will help make your journey a lot smoother and keep your expectations at ease. We believe that most of these things are pretty easy to deal with after the first few weeks of living in Tanzania in general, but of course only YOU can make the best of your experience. 😊
If you still are planning your move to Tanzania, please understand that none of this is to discourage you and to be quite honest, though we spoke our truths on our experiences thus far, moving to Tanzania has been such a GREAT and BEAUTIFUL journey and we wouldn’t want life any other way… So go for it, and make the move if you believe it’s for you!!

Wow, I didn't know people did not know how to cook in the younger generation. That is sad... They need to know that skill even if they don't move anywhere. It is not good to eat out on a regular basis. You don't know what you're eating. That is not a luxury.

It’s best to ask before renting if the home has a back up generator… don’t just go for a cheap or large place cause the price is nice bcs you’ll likely get what you pay for. Many of these TNZ TH-camrs lost power for days and were out of water for days bcs they didn’t think about that part. Thank you for keeping it real and not hiding or glamourizing this journey.

I can see how Africa has given you peace. I love seeing Black men look so relaxed in Africa. Great points. The only caution is if you go to the market don't negotiate or haggke for already reasonable food prices. Be careful never to exploit or impoverish the poor through negotiating tomatoes or onions. In fact if possible pay more at the market when you can. It's a way to help the poor market woman or man continue their business.

I and my children have lived off-grid for a year in the past in Trinidad on purpose so I could teach them, in addition to having them Tent camp. In our learning trip to Nigeria Power outages were literally everyday. What I've learned is a necessity to pack are camping essentials. Showering, SOLAR 5 GALLON CAMP SHOWER is so needed. Hang it in any kind of Sunlight outside or window you have a heated shower. COLLECT, COLLECT,COLLECT RAIN WATER and use cleanse tablets. (Collapsable water containers ate extra life points!) SOLAR PHONE&TABLET CHARGERS a Must Have! There's more but just those are key to this video. They made nomad-off grid living so easy. P.S. Hearing the adhan in the background, made me smile so hard! Can't wait to get that local honey and country bought brand is also SAFER many times because the country doesn't allow harmful dyes and poisons. Thank you for your sharing.

What about gyms and is it safe to cycle on the roads? or are there places to ride a bike? What about getting your hair braided? Installing bathtubs when you are building a house is actually very cheap, most Africans are just not used to tubs so they don’t see the relevance of putting one. I have tubs in my house in US, I don’t remember last time I used those tubs unless I’m standing in one to take a shower. In fact, all the 4 adults that lived in our house don’t use the tubs, only our kids use em.

Hi lovely couple. I'm wondering are water coolers available for purchase or rent to supply water and are back up generators advisable or not necessary? Also I agree shop locally to get better quality and promote local economy. Buy from the originators. I like to hear that you vegetarians. I've been contemplating this also which is healthier, versatile and quite tasty. Great advice.

    • @_MichelleTheCreative_
      @_MichelleTheCreative_  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey ☺️
Water coolers are available and water tanks as well! Most houses has them supplied already though. Backup generators are required if you ask us, as the power goes out frequently! BUT also, that is something you could easily find here in local shops!
Yes we shop locally all the time! ✊🏾 and we are Vegan! 😊 We highly recommend you give it a try. Only thing is, don’t quit everything cold turkey. Like we advise everyone, Slowly work your way into veganism or vegetarian. Slowly cut off meats or dairy and eat more veggies! Your journey would be much easier 😊 Goodluck to you 💕

Hey sorry to hear that you’re struggling with that! Unfortunately, we aren’t aware of any home realtors here since we don’t own or rent a home ourself. I would suggest reaching out to JourneyWithUs here on TH-cam, they just bought a home and they have moved 3 times since they’ve been here! They would know alot!! ☺️

Who needs hot water in Dar es Salaam? It is so hot anyway and I don't think that most of the time you will need hot water? You were in Arusha and you needed a KFC? There are a lot of local places in the evening in Arusha where you could get the best Nyama choma (grilled meats) that you will never see in the USA for just a $5.00 for a four people mill.

Some people prefer a warm to hot shower no matter the degrees of outside…. And I don’t need a KFC, I’m vegan! Thanks for sharing the info

Why are so many blacks who travel to Africa go there with this materistic mentality. Rather than going there to connect and be part of the African culture and people and help improve the lives of the masses of tanzanians where possible. Many black people go to Africa to advance their material existence to the extent they set themselves apart from the average African. This is causing resentment and will not contribute to the welcome mat being full layed out for blacks from America. I have been to Africa several times and I have met great people. I never went there looking to live extravagantly and taking and not giving anything back. I stayed clear of most of the other expat. because of their mentality, Many would not even try to learn the lanquage. sad.

Power outages depent on the country and most middle or average ppl have solar backup or generators. We don't bargain prices in my country everything has a set price it doesn't matter if u foreign. I could go on all day. Say the specific country pls

When you sharing your experience about please say Tanzania instead of Africa. Tanzania is a country in Africa. For example when you said most places don’t have toilet in Africa, power outraged, water services etc. I found that been ignorant and spreading lies about the entire African continent.
You did a great job by telling people to blend in when they visit an African country but also do not scare them by saying don’t dress flashy. If you are going to the club, mall, fancy restaurant and other nice places you can dress flashy. But I wouldn’t encourage anyone to dress flashy if you are going to the street market or buy cheaper products in the neighborhood.

Yes this video is old but we are now aware of our words when speaking about Tanzania and other countries in Africa. We know to separate the two.
In our videos, we never mean any harm or disrespect, so please take what we say lightly. Thanks for sharing your feedback though! Have a nice day! ❤️

30,000Tsh ($13) is enough for a 20 Litre full of rice.
400,000 ($176) here is someone's monthly salary (on the low end).
    1000 ($0.4) is a 1.5Litre of bottled water.
2000 - 3000 ($1.3) Our famous street food Chips-Mayai// a full plate of eggs+fries omelet is a whole different vibe. Search CHIPSI MAYAI on google
Using 20,000 a day on a restaurant is luxury here. 5,000 you eat good food. 10,000 you eat like a king. Not on famous brand names restaurants though. Their price is not just for the food
