    Breeding shrimp is so interesting. They don't follow genetics like fish do. The layering of colors is what I find interesting. Some lines revert back to the wild type when you mix them, some do not. Fascinating little critters.

    This is so interesting! I took notes of what it was said in this video. Its because I was looking for explanation for the mutations I have in my tanks. For me it started with one! surviving pair of blue diamonds (out of 5) in my tank in february this year. In 8 months now I have around 300-400 shrimps. I was searching for the names of the different mutations I have. So for now Im selectively breeding from what Ive got ones those 8 months:
    -black rose
    -blue diamond
    -blue dream (they are so incredibly beautiful)
    -carbon rili
    -blue carbon rili
    Some of the mutations are sp beautiful for ex. cabon rili with clear patches on the head etc. Do you think once I stabilize these lines, I could try and sell them as true lines?
    Thank you for explaining all this 🙂

    • @jessl1934
      @jessl1934 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They'll probably give you more blue jellies but you're going to find diversity in pigmentation and occasionally you'll get other coloration or distribution patterns, depending on a lot of circumstances. It also depends on how stable your line is.
      Think of it like how two parents with dark hair can sometimes have a child with blond or red hair - those familial traits can combine and emerge/re-emerge, even if the two parents in question don't present with that particular trait. There's a good chance that they're going to have dark haired offspring but genetics sometimes throws out a curveball too.

    • @Fishtory
      @Fishtory  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They should stay black over 85% or 90% of the babies...otherwise it's not a truly "clean line" aka "true line", however if you mix them with another color neocaridina and wait to see the offspring- you may get some surprises.

      Probably red rilis and blue rilis? I'm honestly not sure, but I'm assuming if they both have the rili traight. It's more likely to remain expressed vissually. Although I've had both blue dreams and bloody Mary's turn into dark dark redish blue and sky blue center rili-s before also... so it all depends on what genes are happen back in the breeding lines too

    • @Fishtory
      @Fishtory  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends if they came from the same line... if they're super light pale blue vs royal or navy blue then they likely aren't from the same wild phenotype and would make a mix of the colors for a while and after a few generations they'd get more clear and brown and wild looking. But if they're both the same hue of blue color, they should make more rili looking babies eventually.
