Awesome! I still think Matt Ray should have gotten higher, can't say who because all were great, but he's as smooth as the bowl guys while still doing the insane tricks.
@@Mart7y I think you are right and the lack of grinds hurts him but street is about much more than grinds so I would like to see that scoring philosophy change.
He's been robbed many times . I bet he doesn't care anymore , but he should be placed higher in every xgames he's been in . Xgames judging has been absolute garbage the past couple years
My thoughts exactly! I came here after watching Park finals (it was painful) and immediately read your comment: ended up skipping most of the video. Whatever happened to big wallrides (or curved ones), subboxes and subrails? I also don't get why this separation of Park and Street is still a thing: it puts riders in categories where they mostly do the same stuff. Great riders used to throw bangers AND know how to be tech! Plus they had their own style and didn't copy everything (or not as much). You guessed it, i grew up watching guys like Osato, Homan, Ruben, Freimuth, Taj, Layos, Doyle to name a few.
In some ways, you can't help the fact that if this was still organised in the states, this would have been a huge post Pandemic event to bring back crowds.
Can't say I agree with a lot of the judging that went down. Even in flatland, second and third should've looked a little different there. Idk...guess judges have their favs in bmx. Nothing new with that, but it shouldn't be that way. At least I don't feel it should. Who am I tho? I'm just some unknown has been who's been into bmx since forever.
So I noticed in practice that Matt ray was running the coaster buttt he decided to go with cassette for the comp ? So I’m guessing the weird layout he needed more bike control and wanted to be able to use the pedal pressure to crunch out of situations if need be? Am I hot or cold Ryan? Was this talked about?
Good eye. I was curious so I asked him: “Yeah I switched after first practice , I’ve just been riding cassette for a bit now so figured I’m more comfortable with it and I’ve never ridden an XGames with cassette”
Awesome top 3. We all know if garrett landed that uprail hard 1 whip his last run he would have taken the gold edit: on second thought, Lewis probabaly would have taken that W either way, so smooth and stylish with insane tricks. just so used to Garrett at the #1 spot, and for good reason, but great to see Mills and Devon up there!
@@cattalkbmx okay, but what I love in street is creative lines with some basic tricks. It’s style like art, but big tricks it’s good and impressive, not like spam in street
I'm totally impressed w/ everyones riding but I can't accept that Lewis won on his 3rd run when he only did a few barspins, a grind and a tire grab.... I cannot accept that as a 1st place run. LoL

It’s sick seeing how supportive all riders are for each other. As if they’re just having a casual sesh… but then with crook 5’s and pegs hard whips.
I mean it's pretty much the exact same with me and my buddies except it's tire slides and wheelies.
cause they mostly compete against themselves, not against other athletes..
Killed it with style Devon Smillie! 💪
I thought matt ray was riding for etnies? Hes rockin pumas tho??
He did a weak ass crank flip...should have been disqualified
So, true glad I got to own a Smilie fuego frame at some point in my life he holds two silvers now so, glad!
so clean
Lewis deserved that. Devon never fell during all three runs, but Lewis changed each run up. Sick. Also, did he just beat his boss in a contest?
Matt ray's 540 are savage, it looks like he will send a 720 and then slow down the rotation mid-air.
first time ever Garrett gives his gold to young generation, everybody’s was KILLED iT !
First time ?? I guess your are one xgames behind 🤣
Neither of you can spell 😂...like talking to a mirror?
@@xxMysticJT i watched every xgames bmx from 2007 dude...
X games is a tail whip energy drink fest it’s long dead for the sport regarding progress just look at the course says everything.
@@nesterov_g xgames sydney 🤦🏾♂️ i guess you did not watch them all
That was so great I wanted to see Lewis on the first place cus what he does is fresh!
His cab 540 trucks are dope!
Salute to every single rider and filmer. Y’all put on one hell of a contest especially with the circumstances y’all were dealt.
Everyone was pulling insane tricks, what a blast to watch, thank you.
My guy Lewis with the hot lap…CONGRATS
Awesome! I still think Matt Ray should have gotten higher, can't say who because all were great, but he's as smooth as the bowl guys while still doing the insane tricks.
It’s like they don’t give him a good enough score because of how easy he makes the tricks look
I don’t think he places high because he’s not doing the grind stuff others do but the rest of his tricks are just as hard

Matt Ray deserved higher!
Devon won in my eyes! 🤘🏼
I agree to, nobody is doing 180 tire grabs as that clean in, street contests.
It's a toughy decision, i expect the scoring was very tight between 1st and 2nd especially.
Feels like Matt Ray got screwed? His first run was kinda insane if you watch it back? Not sure what's up withe the scoring.
I thought the same thing and I wonder if the fact that he makes it look so effortless hurt him with the judges somehow
I’m not sure what it is but that up rail double bar was fire.
Great filming. Garrett is still the goat
🔥 riding from all the guys 🙌👍🚲💨
It felt like I watched the same rider 8 times.
Whip, bar, spin, bar, whip, spin, spin, bar, spin, whip...
Lol you’re just old and don’t have hops

Congrats 👏 everybody

good x games that was, i wont never forget it ;---)
Courage Adam only goes hard foe Instagram clips
I hope Alex lands the ice switch whip next year
Matt Ray is the real MVP
Let's go Lewis!
definitely deserved first place

Alex D's uprail crook 5. wtf

Devon kick ass
Matthias's flatland rig looked like a Trailseeker compared to Lewis's ride.
8:31 feeble to 360 smith to 180 out 😮😮😮
Matt Ray should have placed higher
Felix prangerberg(?)
niceee, hope to see more
I feel all these riders were dialed down since they only had a few hours practice this year
What's wrong with the judges? Thought it's kinda hard to get crack in Japan.
Don't get me wrong, everybody killed it but fuck nooo....

crazy there's not one Japanese rider at all...
haven't seen felix prangenberg🙂🙂 has anyone noticed it.
He turned down the invite because, I believe, he had some travel conflicts.
Next time, don't do flairs in a street comp?
People have been doing flairs on street for years now. It's a street move too. Sports progress.

Best run conts lol.
I thought flair is not a street trick. You know what I mean

Casette matt ray> coaster matt ray
No garrett
22th
To many barspins by a lot of these dudes

He won with 2º run!!!
Devon should not have got 2nd wtf he didn't do anything remotely hard
The only guy to put the 180 to tire grab to style that's what scored him high imo
I'm not watching again, but i don't recall he cranked any of his manuals, whilst the other riders were, and Devon had some nice mannies.
Devon's run was technical, smooth, and stylish...and he made it look effortless. I thought he was scored accurately.
If anything alex or matt should have gotten third instead of garret
You do a 180 over double peg down a rail then
What's up with the moderator lol he ain't even able to name their tricks.. Naming a truck just a 360 or saying wooawh to a tire ride🥲
