    In this video, I explain reserve buoyancy and why ships need it. I also highlight an important mistake students make when answering questions related to this topic in oral examinations. In my next video, i will explain the procedure of calculating it using a numerical as an example.

    The new marking/lebelling, teaching is great...it gives the effect how you teach someone in the class on a black board... Alwys wanted that in your explanations...Thank you Captain for innovating new techniques to teach..

    Hi sir...Thanks for the video. Could you please confirm the upper wing ballast tanks can be reserve buoyancy? Or even the underdeck passage on the container ships can be taken as Reserve buoyancy?

    Does ballast tanks serve to reserve buoyancy in a loaded condition?

      Not really, they are mostly below the waterline.

    Sir what are the areas to be considered for reserve buoyancy.

      Any spaces above the waterline, for example, watertight doors, shell plating, armored bulkheads, segregated compartments, void spaces, etc.
