What's extroardinary is that they manage to perfectly play their songs live!

That is MTH! Chaotic and quick direction changes. It is a ride you can not predict. THat is what I love about them.

I woke up Sunday morning and my usual Sunday morning ritual is to make a coffee, sit down, and catch up on pod-casts. This was the video at the top of my TH-cam homepage and it was all of 10 minutes old, just posted. Of course, being MTH, it's all in Japanese, there's next to no English, and barely a hint in the clickbait pic that clues you into this being a Maximum the Hormone video. Well, that's typical MTH: you gotta work for it. It's called "Koi❤no America", so I look up 'Koino' and sure enough the heart emoji makes sense as 'Koino' is a Japanese phrase that means that "You know that you will come to deeply love" something, in this case, America.
So I watch the video, thinking I might be the first person in North America to see it. The first thing I notice is the narrated preamble where the floating index finger pokes on the 'closed captions' button, and I see that the CC button is grayed out: no closed captions.
And this is a typical MTH video with style, mood, genre, switching about rapid fire, disconcertingly and jarringly in their usual fashion. I watch multiple times as it all blasts by so fast. The sets were incredible, tossed aside in moments, and it's obvious they spent on production values. Every member got screen time. I love the scene with Ue surrounded by a heart held by pom-pom girls. Nao looks great every time especially in the "Video Game Night Ryder" scenes. The animated talking doll was a bit jarring.
Normal for MTH, the primary audience is Japanese, but I get the sense that MTH wants to get into the American Music scene. This video can be seen as a sampler for what Maximum The Hormone is all about: the rapid fire blending of genre, the wacky sense of humor, their broad demographic appeal, the energetic fun of their lives shows, and their wild sense of mystery: you never know what exactly you're getting with a new MTH release. This is MTH saying hello to America, we want to be your friends!
Yoshiki of X Japan has noted that there seems to be a wall between East and West for Japanese music and he prays that wall can be breached. Over the last two years I've come to love Japanese rock: Band-Maid, Nemophila, Ningen Isu, X Japan, Hanabie, Gacharic Spin, Maximum the Hormone, and many other bands. The musicianship and composition is always top notch and uniquely original. I can understand that the language barrier seems daunting, but if you can listen to Rammstein, in German can Japanese be that big a stretch? We live in the internet age, you are two clicks, a copy and paste away from translated lyrics. Don't be lazy.

I couldn't agree more. Thank you for taking the time to write! There is something special about MTH. I hope all the bands you listed break that barrier as well. Maybe in a nutshell that is what my podcast has really become all about. Speaking of Yoshiki did you listen to the new X Japan release? I loved it!

@@joelroadie Yes, 'Angel'! I was not expecting anything from X Japan. A total surprise. Hanabie dropped 'Be the girl' and 'Run Away' and of course B-M released 'Shambles'. Perhaps we are seeing a "Japanese Invasion"?

Congratulations for your comment. The walls that separate people are made to be broken down. Your name is hard to pronounce, mate.🤨

@@Kissthetoad321 My Nom DeNet is a modification of "etaoin shrdlu" - the order of keys on a newsprint typesetting machine like QWERTY is on a standard keyboard. Newspaper copy editors would insert this to tell typesetters to fill the remainder of the column with nonsense.

So thought I would drop you a line. This video finally has English captions available. The thing about this song is Ryu wanted to have it be an homage to the sounds of American music over a spectrum of periods, and from its cultural backgrounds. Tho I wouldn't put this as a first impression song.

Almost a Japanese version of Electric Callboy in this one. LOL

Maximum is like any other Maximum.
It's all over the place. They don't settle for one genre when they can Mashup 10 in a 4 minute song.
Say this about Maximum The Hormones. They were more patriotic towards America than our own U.S. Women's soccer team in the 2023 World's Cup.

I guess Band Maid generously allowed them to use the riff from Decided by Myself. Never mind. This song is typically MTH, chaotic, punk, pop and fun at the same time. This MV is awesome.

It seems the song has not worked very good for their fans. I like it.

The song was cool. There was too much going on for too long. If they cut it to four minutes it would have been better.

I think this time they went too far... I'd like to hear a song in the "Hungry Pride" style, this one is too similar to "Let's talk about menkata kottelee". Nice song, but not their best
