I like how the French want to:
      - keep retirement age at age 62
      - keep on drinking alc at noon while at work
      - keep the same living standard besides demographics and increased costs for the elderly
      - keep the right to have as many labor unions as they want and each of em can negotiate independently with the same employer (yep, look it up).
      - want fishing rights in British national waters but don't want to give a single thing
      - they want the German Tank technologies and don't want to include the German manufacturer as equal partner (lol)
      - they still want control over the former French colonies in NorthAfrica but don't care about reconciliation and fair historical accounts what happened then.
      - they want the Chinese and Russian state to be closer partners to France and Europe than the U.S (yes...almost 50% of em voted for LePen on exactly that issue).

If Europe have Russia they don’t need the U.S and the U.S go from a global power to a regional power.. Nothing wrong with wanting to get away from a nation who are obsessed with war in the name of “democracy”, a nation who claims to be the land of the free but has a bill of rights that gives it’s people far less rights than the average nation.. Since the start of the movement several people had to suffer an amputation of an eye, a hand, and testicles, as the result of massive levels of police violence. Students in Brittany said they were sexually assaulted while in police custody. Their testimony is terrifying. But the media just prefer to look the other way, and the perpetrators never have to suffer any consequences for their crimes. This is also a massive part of what make demonstrators so angry these days against the government. There's zero trust in the police.

then again, the problem is not the age going from 62 to 64. it's how the government passed the law : without a vote, without a consultation. they decided so, without asking the people. they simply said "that is the law now." in the country of Human Rights. now, we are as angry as ever, against a system that is unfair to people who keep labouring their lives away, and we are angry at that very system deciding for them. how on Earth is it fair ? how do we trust people who have a comfortable pay and retirement, to decide for people who will serve them until they literally die ?
these protests are not against the age going from 62 to 64. they are against an unfair system that favours privileged people and how they decide on OUR future. we, the people who provide them for food, light, water, electricity, and any sort of service they wish for.
and you know what I find funny ? both national and international medias are depicting the protests as extremely violent. this was absolutely not the case. I literally just came from this Paris protests and it was peaceful, joyous, engaged. from 2pm to 6pm, people were shouting slogans, singing, dancing, sharing. there was an incredible feeling of humanity in this shared anger towards a government that stays blind and deaf to its people. reducing the demonstrations to "explosions in Paris" is a lie, a blatant lie. shame on them. you are being shown only half the truth and I'm sorry this is the only side medias will ever show.

Besides, representative democracy is only a sub-delegation of democracy. It is not directly the people who write their laws and have them passed.
There have been enough philosophers (at least in France) to lay the foundations of democracy, the philosophers of the Enlightenment. Rousseau, Montaigne, Montesquieu, Tocqueville and so on...
To vote for a person is not to vote for a program, and to vote for a program is not yet to lead the city ourselves.
So when a single individual decides alone to dispense with the vote of the National Assembly, it's even worse.

I remember a couple of years ago the bolsjevics, the socialists, the communists and their unions advicing the French to vote for Macron to stop Le Pen being president of France. Now they try to grab the momentum to seaze power by violence . If they succeed the French are in deeper trouble than they could ever imagine.

So here in the U.S. we haven't had that kind of demonstration against retirement and economy in many years. We do protest against anti abortion and we do anti racism demos. But economic issues no. I think perhaps that should change. I hate violence and I also hate the violence our lawmakers the world over perpetrate onto us to kiss up to corporate greed. France has the money, the U.S. has the money, the problems are that the rich guard against the masses. Does that sound familiar?

It is disheartening to see the streets of a prominent European nation turn into a site of conflict and unrest. The recent protests in France have transformed some of its thoroughfares into what could be mistaken for a warzone. The scenes of violence and chaos are a stark reminder of the deep-seated social and economic issues that have fueled this unrest. It is clear that the citizens of France are passionate about their causes and are willing to take to the streets to make their voices heard. However, it is important that these demonstrations remain peaceful and respectful, allowing for constructive dialogue and meaningful change to take place

*0:59** If you're wondering, I don't think this lady meant to be rude by showing two fingers to the cameraman and the British viewers...! Her gesture would rather be akin to the Churchillian V-sign for victory (some photographs show Churchill doing the victory sign with the back of his hand away from him, like the woman in the video); the "offensive" V-sign is not a thing in France.*

The legal retirement age is France is 67 (it used to be 65) except for people who started to work early and cumulated enough years of pension contribution to retire at 62, now they’ll have to wait until they reach 64. The workers who started early generally worked in strenuous and physically demanding jobs and arrive at the end of their career physically diminished, these are the people who are been asked to continue to work for whatever little savings Macron thinks the state will do. These new French laws and the retirement regulations are misrepresented in the UK, it’s quite tiring actually. It’s not what it looks like.

How absurd that some people are saying that this is "amazing" ... It has zero relevance what they are rioting against when there are hundreds of police officers and riot police being injured, property being damaged and destroyed - these are innocent men and women most likely with families at home. Can someone explain how injuring and even setting fire to innocent people is "amazing"?
