October 8th, 1971 they opened for Grand Funk Railroad in Buffalo's Memorial Auditorium with this song. The crowd (about 15K) didn't know what to make of them at first but by their last song (When Electricity Came to Arkansas) the crowd was on their feet! Been a fan ever since ... 50 years!
I seen you back in the 70's I montgermery, alabama.an in at blue Creek club. Used to listen to you back in the 70's. bad was. Date House of commerce and Jim dandy to the rescue. Good old days. Loved the 70s thanks carry on
The "atomic rooster." hahahaha. ashame we have to get old. Saw this band sooooo many times in my younger years I lost count. was NEVER once disappointed in the show. thanks guys. youR music was a bigger part of my life growing up than I care to admit. lol
we had shared some shots of "Elijah" last night and need Black Oak Arkansas tune on to chug to... (Elijah Craig is a premium and super-premium brand of bourbon whiskey produced in Kentucky by Heaven Hill Distilleries. The brand is sold as a straight bourbon) I wonder if Elijah is still alive? he'd be 110 or somre by now, his spirit lives on
Wow, what a scary looking clan here, but even w/ all that bar b que, their still ALIVE ! This band didn't get the recognition they deserve. Helped me survive prep school 44 years ago.
Saw BOA in Springfield Missouri - Shrine Mosque Auditorium .. at the ripe old age of 13 = 50 years ago . Jim Dandy did a bad thing (you figure it out) with his washboard . The next day - Springfield newspaper came out with a news story and the religious leaders and city leaders announced BOA was banned from ever performing in Springfield again ... due to their "blasphemous immorality " and a couple thousand seriously stoned fans smoking weed and drinking wine and whiskey right in front of cops and security . Those were the days . Black Oak could do a concert in a muddy backwoods field in the middle of nowhere and still draw a thousand people . The ultimate old time Pioneer Grunge band .
@@travissmith9451Nope, it’s his little brother. I’m friends with several of the guys in this version of the band, mainly the bass player and the guitar player on the far right.
@@mattguitarwilson so you know George too? I've known George since the mid 80's when he was playing with a band called Razorback that later became Grayghost.

First band I ever saw, 50 years ago. Best $4 I ever spent!
Around 1974 I rode around in a 1971 pinto in eastern Ky. and played BOA in my 8 track daily at full volume. Wish I could go back.

They had it all for a short time and then some. As rick james said so truly, cocaine is a helluva drug.
That's the guy that inspired David Lee Roth.
You right, you right 👍
Yep, I’ve often stated that Jim dandy was the original David Lee Roth!
I especially love the comment when they finish

Black Oak @ The Whiskey. Cant get more bad ass
If I could be any member in this fantastic band it would have to Ruby Starr
For a second i thought
Vinny paul took up the guitar.🐗
RIP
He was great back in the day, but, this performance leaves me wondering what song is that
They seem to be having fun-the only earthly reason they should still be doing it...
Who's here in 2019? Heck pretty soon gonna be 2020!
Hey, I remember 2020...
Go to dandy go Jim dandy
Omg
Saw boa in Lawton ok Dallas tx go Jim dandy
wish i still had my long hair
I'm incorrigible..so encourage me.Damn thought I owned that but Dandy is the boss
I thought everyone died at the end of " Texas Chainsaw Massacre".
David Lee Who?
God damn that woman is hot.
😩😩😩at some point it gets embarrassing
I couldn't agree more. And this is from one their biggest fans-in 1975.
I'm afraid most people get old BOA in the 70's was awesome that's how I want to remember jim dandy and the band
After all these years he still never learned to tune that wash board.
These guys are like Lynyrd Skynyrd without any good songs, not to be rude but Jim Dandy was their only hit and it was a remake.
Maybe you didn't listen to this song, and maybe 50 other good songs of theirs.
This may have been a good song I can't tell by this performance. Sounds like a mess.
BOA was never anything like Skynyrd. And yes, they did have alot of good tunes.
BOA had tons of excellent songs go delve into their back catalogue starting with their debut album
