I just love the moment when you hit the shrine early on and it tells you "If it can break, it will" and you immediately go into your inventory to peep on all the half broke equipment. You hate it when it happens, but I love that it is a thing. Makes memories. Also Farmham the Drunk when asked about the poisoned well: You drink water!?!

I think this is where the souls game got their idea ... there is no lore in the game about what those shrines do - you had to figure it out looking at your stats and equipment. there was a shrine which added levels to your spells ...

You are right. Somehow Diablo 1, despite its old graphics, feels more horrific than any other in the series. I think it ist because of its music ans your slow movement Speed that creates that feeling.

seriese 1 is very simple so it makes peaple can concentrate to horror mood. it makes peaple feel really like only they are alone and seeing a monster face to face. after this one ,serieses graphics are very fancy with all kind of color and too many stuff makes can not concentrate to horror mood
they dont make games like these anymore. it is absurd that the music and sfx and ambient are on par, or even better than modern games. D1 also has plenty funny, entertaining bits not present in modern games. Modern ARPG or games feels like fast food, everything is fast, flashy, and easy and then get lost in the immersion once games asks you to pay for real money. I came here after watching D4 Spiritborn reveal. The new character is comically cool and flashy.
We saw many many times that a good game is equal to good atmosphere, good music and a good plot. Graphics aren't really the deal. Fallout 2, prince of persia the warrior within, thief the metal age..

@@Extazyxd Start the Launcher, go to video settings and set Display mode to your Monitors resolution, Presentation on fullscreen and scaling method to integer. BUT that only works for Diablo (Classic) it does not work for Diablo + Diablo Hellfire with high resolution support. Can´t tell you why:[

Ah well, D2 has a lot more focus an action, not horror like D1. I really enjoyed it too, to be honest, but I can see, why you like D1 much more. I kinda feel the same way, even though I still enjoy playing both;)

I installed Diablo immortal on my phone. I gave it a try and deleted game after 2 hours. Thats not even close to be a diablo game. Then i had to come over and remind myself what Diablo actually is.
Today was my first (and last) time playing Diablo 1. Don't get why many people like it. I got it because my friends told me to give it a try. Horrible from the start. Bad graphics, super laggy, I couldn't run. Super complicated gameplay and mechanics (I didn't know how to equip items or drink a potion). I lasted up until the butcher quest, where I lost in less than 60 seconds. Didn't even last 25 minutes. 👎
Well, i don´t get why you are confused about the game mechanics. The higher number wins, can´t get more simple. Of course is your criticism kinda right. Game is about over 20 years old after all.

otherwise we used to get two scrolls of firewall and lock the door lol. or get a bow of knock back if you are lucky at the shop. you need to level up a LOT to kill him head on without knock back.

I think this is where the souls game got their idea ... there is no lore in the game about what those shrines do - you had to figure it out looking at your stats and equipment.
