I understand especially when working with a banner/balloons...this has happened to me when doing the setup for my twins birthday party last month and the year before...last month was a little better than last year though...LOL. The banners are hard to work with especially if they don't have the pocket holes and sometimes they purchase the ones that are shorter than the backdrop stand and that makes it a little harder to work with also. Your balloons looked amazing...maybe it was because you were closer to it than we were but you always do an amazing job so don't beat yourself up about it. I do understand the vision because I have a vision in my head for a lot of my work but there are times they don't come out right but we have to keep moving forward like you said. Have a blessed day.

Great advice! I will be similar to you when I start decorating events, keep stepping back and assessing and adjusting. But I will have to tell myself when to call it quits and finish... at least before the bride enters 🤣🤣🤣 Like you say, if we learn from each event and improve skills or processes, then there is always a positive output. I definitely get it. I have the exact same experience with you last week when I rent out only my backdrop stand and client purchased their own backdrop. The backdrop does not come with any pocket and I have a hard time to set up by tying the eyelets with string to my backdrop stand. I've been spending so much time trying to make sure it looks good but eventually it doesn't because the backdrop itself has weakness 😔 it definitely affect my overall setup with my balloon garland. No more next time 😜
I think the garland looks great. The backdrop is a little small for the stands. The garlands are organic so they never look the same. No matter how many I do, they are never the same.
I think you did a great job!! The shape of the garland was perfect I think. Adding some drapes definitely would’ve helped with the backdrop. Even putting a long table in front of the backdrop could’ve hid the space at the bottom. I definitely understand how you feel, I’m hard on myself too 😅
I love the balloon garland. Black curtains behind it or a desert table could have the been the perfect look. If a client says he/she will provide the backdrop I ask the size for the size of it, a picture of it or if he/she needs help on ordering it. I always bring curtains with me and I don’t use these black backdrop stands after a few uses for the same reason. Overall it’s beautifully done.

So this weekend I set up 2 backdrop stands with the backdrop photo that waz short like the one you did and I didn't like it. I also added a balloon garland and I hated the look. I also made a pocket on both of the backdrops using strong tape so the pole would slide thru. If I had a double backdrop I would have used curtains in the back. You did a great job on the balloon garland!! I struggle with the shape of the balloon garlands too. That Tyler Perry Garland is so perfect!!! 🔥
I had one client buy a graduation banner this small. I asked her to buy some foil fringe to cover all the space around it. She wanted an inexpensive option and it did the job.
That's a good tip, never thought of that 👌 I for sure would not want to have to be responsible for hanging a backdrop I haven't seen or used before. It did look pretty small for the size of garland and stand
Lonielle it still looks great but I would have used less balloons on the top and sides and put them across the bottom of the backdrop. If no top rod pocket I probably would try to attach gaft tape and secure to top of pole and balloons will cover it.

I think your balloon garland looked fine. I think because they got a small backdrop sign and no drapes to cover the bottom and the pole on the other side it seemed off.
I used the following sizes in the black Tuftex balloons: 5-inch, 11-inch, 18-inch, and 24-inch. The gold chrome Qualatex balloons were only available in the 5-inch and 11-inch size.
Yes! Event Decor & More yes I see that now . What some clients asking for is more then the budget and I try to explain and educate them and they don’t book with me . What hilarious is they paid it just to someone else . Lol so if they want to book you they will .

When clients tell me that they already have a backdrop or want to purchase it themselves I quickly let them know the size of my backdrop stand and try to advise them what dimensions are better to get. If they have already purchased we figure out how best to anchor the backdrop or balloon install. So here's my question. If I am blindsided and don't have much options, is it bad business practice to go the extra mile to try to reach near perfection even it dips into ur profit margin? I do that often because I want an almost perfect finish and take ownership😒 Is that a no no?
I think you would have to make that call on a case by case basis. In the beginning you may want to invest more in the look of your events (even if that means you’re not profiting as much) because you’re building your portfolio. I’m at a point where I’ve established my portfolio so I would rather not compromise the profit that I can make on my events. I would rather clients use my inventory rather than buying the decorations themselves.
I thought the balloons were perfect!!! The height was the only issue I saw. If you could have added some drapes to the BD it would have been even more amazing. Do you sketch your designs? Yes… invest in quality BDs. equipment.
There was nothing wrong with your design. And you should rent out your stand. You can buy a bar to fix the top part and still use it. You are not thinking. It was pretty
Thanks for your feedback. But with all due respect, I have thought this over. I’m not renting out my backdrop stands anymore. If you have an event design business, you’re more than welcome to rent out your stands. That’s the decision I made for my business. Be blessed!

Exactly! Working with these balloons is not easy. All you can do it practice and try different things to perfect your craft.

That stand is just old and broken. It was time to retire it. Yeah, the smaller backdrops always give me a hard time. I don’t like working with them.
