The short answer is the demons would've been chained until the end of the Age, if Jesus would have casted them out. But the demon asked not to be destroyed before their time. Instead, when the pigs died the demons were able to roam the earth once again. Their job was to lead people to hell. Jesus came to save the children of Israel first, then all the gentiles who accept Him as Savior. So, even though those demons are still roaming, those who accept Jesus are saved.

I'm not sure if I missed it or not, yet the fact that the legion didn't want to be sent to the abbys and made a request, thinking it was the best attempt to stay above ground. Yet the pigs even though not only similiar to the spiritual state of man "due to traditions" but also flesh like in some organs like the heart similiar as man. Yet what they just realized the pigs are NOT like man, but a creation from our God Amighty. By using these animals in their rituals, and once "sacrificed" in the man's idolatry etc; groups of the legion will take their opportunity to take a new bodies to possess from these habitual sinners.
The Lord knew what he was doing, his creation knew no sin, so this legion found themselves in a vessel that knew not... This could only attest to the true nature of the "pigs". This is just a though.

It was amazing few years back I had dream I walked by bunch of pigs few was sick and had some dead but the rest healthy I stop and give those pigs a sign of cross give them blessings after, I left them. I don’ know what it means.
