    It's crazy that here in the UK firearms are so hard to legally own and even if we can where restricted to what we can own but yet it's actually suggested by police (the people that approve or disapprove your firearm licence) that we buy a suppressor but yet in America the land of the 2nd amendment you have to go through a lengthy process to own one...baffles me

    I have a 10.5in 5.56 AR SBR. I just ran with an omega 36M and it’s extremely loud because the velocity, the barrel length and the suppressor is a 36 Cal suppressor instead of a 556 dedicated. It’s still a heck of a lot more pleasant than shooting that gun unsuppressed but it’s by no means quiet. Although I wasn’t expecting it to be very quiet with supers out of a short barrel with a larger diameter suppressor than what the round is. I’m going to try it on my 300 blackout SBR that should do wonders with the 300 blkout hush ammo from freedom munitions.

    Love my 300 Black 8.2 inch suppressed. Running a full size, 10-inch monocore can makes it hearing safe but not short as I had hoped. I reload for it and just hot enough to reliably cycle the action. I have loaded movie quiet, but the action won't cycle, and I certainly don't want to stick a round in a good barrel. The can is used on a 308 SASS also. 300 is my favorite to suppress.

  • @JHorvathCinema
    @JHorvathCinema 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Suppressors literally work like a straight through muffler, not necessarily “slowing down” the gases, but reducing the magnitude of the shockwave. The baffles provide some combination of diffusion and diversion of the gas shockwave that causes the sounds to fold back on itself and cancel itself out (out of phase) different designs cause different effects which is why 2 suppressors with similar db ratings can sound different. Also similar physics to a Tesla valve.

    In France, If you have an authorization for a firearm, you can buy any suppressor you want for this caliber. Or you can buy any suppressor for civilian caliber (rifle caliber)
    Little more culture point : you have up to 10 "B category" (short shotgun, AR, SMG, tactical Rifle, Pistol), 3 by year, starting at the end of your first year at shooting range.
    B cat weapon doesn't belong to you but to the Government, If they decide that now B category is forbidden for civilian, weapons will be taken away for their owner... probably even without being paid back.
    And for C cat (shotgun 32 inches+, rifles (up tu 12,7)), just go to any shooting club and paid your licence

    Honest question here... since I'm not extremely familiar with the FN 5.7mm ammo (Same ammo the FN five-seven pistol and the FN P-90 PDW use).
    I've shot both of those before, but I was curious if a suppressor did much for a round like that as far as lowering the decibel noise Level when fired...I mean that as in like would it drop the noise level a significant amount to benefit from putting a can on anything chambered in FN 5.7mm?
    Also, what would you recommend for a single suppressor brand/model that can be used and swapped between a 5.56 M16A2/AR-15 platform and on something like a Glock 19 as well as a S&W MP 15-22 (AR platform Smith and Wesson chambered in 22lr). That's easy to use, clean, etc. Thanks!

      @@jeffreyroot6300 is correct about Mafia assassination and silencers. In the book "The Godfather", one of the assassins wraps his weapon in a towel and shoots his target at close range (the layers of the towel acted as a sound suppressor). They didn't do it in the movie. During Prohibition, Mob violence was out of control, it was a lesser version of what's going on now in Mexico. The Chicago Mob had Thompson machine guns, the cops probably had snub nose 38 revolvers or some equivalent.

    • @hatefulhermit673
      @hatefulhermit673 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it's not a good idea to keep the spring because it may lead to baffle strikes... though it seemed to be fine with the spring in, so it doesn't seem to really matter for that particular setup.

    Your subsonic rounds seems or audibly appears to be still breaking the sound barrier… it’s probably the ambient conditions you are in and that the suppressor seems to be adding a bit more velocity to that subsonic rounds as you are using them on short barrels. Experienced small simple designed silencers outperforming bigger intricate designed silencers not side by side but because of different ambient temperature conditions lowering the bullet speed needed to cause that sonic crack.😊

  • @erlandjnilsson
    @erlandjnilsson 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Holup. @7:00 he says that subsonic rounds require higher pressure because they are heavier? and that the weight of the bullet being greater absorbs more of the energy from the gases so that the dissipation is less violent. (paraphrased for clarity).
    none of which is true.
    subsonic rounds are heavier but move slower so in general the gas pressure is the same. unless the chamber isn't sealed the gases behind the bullet dissipate exactly the same rate when exiting the barrel regardless of bullet weight. only a suppressor or the powder charge can affect that.
    Both gas pressure and recoil need to be within normal values. Too low and the weapon won't cycle properly. Too high and the weapon will take damage.
