    Just frog the sleeve, then sew the armholes to the right size from underneath.
    Amazing how much you have knitted, so many great Christmas gifts! Wishing you and your family a very happy and prosperous new year!

    Congrats on making it through the basket of shame!! Fill it up with yarn quickly 😜 Thanks for a fun year of entertainment.
    Have a good slide into the new year (translated from German 😄)

    Your basket of shame was really helpful for me. While you were weaving in ends at the end of your videos, I was tacking down steeks, sewing buttons, and weaving in the occasional end. Please keep a section of your videos to weave in your ends in 2025, you keep us motivated.

      It's definitely a segment I'm going to keep! I might knit on the wedding dress some if I have no ends to weave in too!

    I would love to see a stash video, its inspiring to see what others have and what they plan on making with it.
    I have a 2yo daughter but if it helps I like Knitting for Sif, and now I'm making a Sorgenfri Jacket for her and it' interesting and yet mindless.
    Happy New Year! I cant wait to see what next year brings!

    Merry Christmas and a great start into the new year!
    Before frogging the christmas sweater, try sewing up a few cm under the armhole to make it smaller. In the end, that is the same as joining front and back earlier. With the yarn you're using, that should be almost invisible and way less work!

      Merry Christmas and Happy New Year❤️🎉
      I have tried mattress stitching the armholes smaller, and now I just need to pick up stitches to see how it all works out! It's not perfect and not invisible. ut you're right that it's not easily noticeable because of the yarn😍

    I personally would frog the sweater. The sleeves do seem quite large. It looks like it would knit up quickly and be worth the extra effort, and you will have a sweater you love. A suggestion for when you are knitting your wedding dress, because it is so large try knitting on your bed, this is what I do when I am knitting a large item and it is heavy. My dogs are not allowed on the bed when I am knitting😄. Have a lovely new year💕

    Even the christmas sweater is telling you to knit on the wedding dress 😂 Maybe decide to cast it off this year no matter what and let the fear of having it to short motivate you? For creative fixing all sorts of knitting mistakes I recommend you Knitting Jungle podcast. I always frog and she is my inspiration for letting go of my perfectionism (also one of absolute favourites). I even left a miniscule mistake in my bookclub cardi this month and I am almost ok with it.u

    I would suggest you frog the Christmas sweater to fit the sleeve as you like. As for the wedding dress, you should work on that when your home. As you said, you can't bring it along with you along with you. But you can bring the sweater! Have a Happy New Year 🎉🎉.

    • @norwegianknitter

      I think I've found a way to decrease the sleeve width without frogging more than the start of the sleeve🤞🏻
      I'm going to knit on the wedding dress when I'm home, but only at night. A very involved 3 year old is nice, but not when knitting a wedding dress😅 Happy New Year❤️

      Happy New Year🎉 Im going to be better at working on it at night, but it's not really feasible to work on during the day. I have to be able to pick it up or hide it away from dirty hands at a moments notice, and it's gotten far to big for that😅
      Luckily I still have 2 more months to go🙈

Happy New Year to you and Your family.

      Tusen takk❤️

    Oline, don't frog it! Instead frog the sleeve and use the mattress stitch to make the circumference of the sleeve smaller. Although you will sacrifice two stitches, it won't impact the body and the sleeves will be smaller. I use this technique to fix the same issue.

    • @norwegianknitter

      @sharonadams3728 That's exactly what I've done today! I got the same tip from someone on Instagram, and it blew my mind🤯 It's the "perfect" solution🤩

    • @solveigjohannesdottir1813

      Also pick up fewer stitches since the sleeve flares with current pick up rate

    • @norwegianknitter

      @@solveigjohannesdottir1813 I think it looks like it flares more than it actually did just because the sleeve was so big. But I'll keep it in mind when trying again!

    It’s too bad the sleeves on your sweater are so big. I don’t think I would frog the body if you could just seam them a bit and then pick up the sleeve stitches again. You accomplished a lot. Congratulations on getting everything finished. December is such a busy month. I hope you have a wonderful New Years too.

    I’m curious, do you follow Arne and Carlos who are Norwegian as well. I am assuming you knit like them, doing purl from the back instead of throwing to the front as we English knitters do. I need to switch I think, Norwegian knitting seems so much quicker and more efficient.

    • @norwegianknitter

      I do not follow them, but I have their Christmas ornament book. I don't do the Norwegian purl, I think what I'm doing is called continental purl? Switching up might be quicker in the long run, but I've knit the same way for 16 years now, so I don't think I'll ever change❤️

  • @jilliankonig2759

    Lovely red dress. Why don't you just rip the sleeve back on your red sweater and kitchener the side seam higher to make the armhole smaller? The small vertical seam would be under your arms, and you wouldn't have to rip back to before the sleeve separation. Either that, or make the sleeve very wide as a style element and put a long ribbing cuff to cinch it in.
    Get back to the wedding dress. It won't require decisions and your future self will thank you.

  • @wendyhorsler8364

    Frog the sleeve your sweater is too much work to have it finished with sleeves that take away from the look of your beautiful sweater.

    • @norwegianknitter

      I agree! I've tried mattress stitching the bottom of the armhold to decrease the size. Hopefully, that works out so I won't have to frog the whole body🤞🏻
