much more respect for Nyjah after seeing this
couldn't agree more
but he got a tattoo of his mom on his chest :/
yodathedeathshadow same
for sure dude, rock on Huston
Most def
Rob Dyrdek gets my respect for helping the family
But thats all. Anything else he does is negated by allowing that whining semiliterate, Chanel, to pollute our TVs😝
Lynn Lynn he help funded skating events
@@lynnlynn9124 I always wondered whyyyyy Rob, with all his wisdom, chose that skank to make a millionaire out of.
lynn rob made street league for new skaters if it wasnt for him people would have to have sponsor tapes and by a slight chance get seen by a pro brand
they should make a movie about nyjahs life, i would definately pay to watch a movie about it!
Thinkin the same thing
FlatMove woahhh
Especially now
Someone please do this
I don’t think that douchebag deserves a cent honestly
So he basically HAD to win that first streetleague. Man that's crazy
jonathan bailey For real... it’s kinda of sad that if he would’ve lost he probably wouldn’t have still skateboarded because of low funds
respect the kid hes worked his ass of for what he has become
Nyjah as a kid looks like Zero from Holes
I read the book andsaw we the movie
Jorge Barajas
DrearyLIVE _ lol
Dig 'em up up ahhhooh dig 'em up
YOOOOO TRUEEE
i find it funny that Nyjah is laughing not thinking it's serious and his mom is breaking down crying.
Same lmao
Different people cope differently to different situations.
He's a strong young man that has battled more adversity than this little clip portrays.
its how it be
Laughter is the best medicine
I gotta give my respect for Nyjah. Even though his dad was an asshole, Nyjah knew that his father was the reason why Nyjah is where he's at right now, and I like how Nyjah showed gratitude for that. I can't really say much else about his father since I don't know him personally, but I do hope that he could get in contact with his son one day.
Nyjahs dad is in the la area? U know nyjah n his dad are still in contact to this day
@@bri7757 source?
@@rubenyanez5645 he lives in la. La is expensive. N my instincts tell me he tried to contact nyjah. N from what I see from nyjahs personality n from what nyjah has said about his dad , it seems like nyjahs cool with him. U don't need proof when u you have instinct
Nyjah isnt my favorite skater, at all, but I do appreciate his skill and motivation from him and his family. This shows how amazing the skateboarding community is, how one kid has gotten from on the brink of loosing it all, to the best in the business. The support from his mother and the amazing help from Rob to open the door for him greatly gained respect for the skating world. Keep killing it Nyjah.
Nyjah greatest
Fair play to Nyjah and his mum for opening up for this video. Not easy to talk about family problems, especially when complete strangers are going to find out about them.
So much respect for Nyjah. He truly is a magnificent skateboarder and a good person.
Nyjah's dad built a skateboarding machine!
ye but still kind of a douche
To the other guy that commented: I think he's a good guy, but because of the isolation he doesn't know exactly how to act all the time, since that's something you learn at a young age
Nyjah is running with the wrong people. If you associate yourself with Justin Bieber, Floyd Mayweather and other celebrity douche bags, one is bound to become a little douchey...you're owned by the company you keep; tighten up Nyjah
yea at the expense of multiple years of abuse. hlrooo
I have so much respect for him. Especially after seeing how hard he working to get this good.
Skateboard World Same :)
Same
+Skateboard World hell yeah i work so hard to skate well and its easy to get jealous of nyjah but this video squashed all of that.
yeah people that hate on him are so dumb they think he just got good from one day to another and that's fucking dumb he had to work his ass off to get to where he is just like every other pro in fact I'd argue that he had to work even harderd with the psycho dad and all
Damn this gives a lot of insight to Nyjahs life, I look at him and his family so differently now. Nyjah really started from the bottom and he deserves the good life hes living now.
wow i never knew all this was going on when i used to watch him skating so good at such a young age. respect.
Honestly one of the most inspirational stories from a skater that I've heard in a while. I have so much more respect for him now. I just want to shake this kids hand right now.
Rob Dyrdek is the fucking man! such a good hearted guy!
Calum Renton i was thinking the same thing
Even without knowing anything about his past, Nyjah has always been an incredible source of inspiration. Its really refreshing to see an athlete that has his feet firmly on the ground and knows that everything can change in a second. Peace Nyjah!
Lol. When he won I cried. Did not expect that. Always just thought Nyjah was this unfairly lucky kid who just had it all but seeing him going through hard times really lifted my feelings toward him as well as the unfairness I feel in my own life. Thank you X-games, Nyjah and momma Huston
that was a truly heart-felt story. I pay my respects to the Hustons.
it thought it was literally going to be about "growing pains" hahahahaha...

i could hear the theme song in my head......

Wow he looks just like his dad

Well, he came from his nuts🥜

I knew Nyjah from working at Element Sk8 Camp in California. Glad to see his life changed around.
Michael Andrew Trevail Good for you ya kook!
A random Rob Dyrdek appears...
This is old... but just saying it wasn’t random because at the time Rob owned street league.. and he paid for Nyjahs family to be there
@@jordstev8779 ya Rob's a real one for that
rob helped him
@@jordstev8779 and nyjah skated for DC I think
Ridiculousness Intro gives me anxiety
Even as a skilled athlete he's had his rough patches. He's possibly my favourite street skater right now, not just because of his amazing skill, but he's humble and is thankful for everything he has.
This is such an amazing story. His mother, such a strong woman, so unique. Nyjah, a legend. I remember seeing him debut in the media and thinking “if that little kid could do what he does at his age, I should quit. I’ve been skating longer than he’s been alive.” Lol.
Respect to Dyrdek also. Because of him Nyjah can enter the competition and won it. He the one makes Nyjah dream comes true.
His dad is responsible for him being so good at such a young age.
I think the same. Him being secluded allowed him to be disciplined.
@. his dad meant well and it clearly resulted in good things
Que história louca essa do Nyjah, não é atoa que ele virou uma lenda!
I love rob dyrdek and nyjah
Those 2 and pj Ladd are my favorite pro skaters
I love how Nyjah is smiling the whole time
Wow. He's always been my favorite skateboarder since we're close in age, his BIG style and street interested me most, but after seeing this it brings a strong respect for his mental toughness and unbeatable composure. Hope I get to meet him when I go to this summers X Games, 2014.
The Michael Jackson of skateboarding.
Exactly, hahaha!
His dad also being the Joe Jackson of skateboarding lol
Nahh that's tony hawk
Definetely tony hawk.
Nyjah isn’t a pedo
I've always thought Nyjah was a kid who made it big. after watching this it's insane how few he's gotten and how he got there. truly inspiring story
If you look at it this way, because of his dad nyjah is a humble extremely talented nice guy. And props to his mum too, very strong lady!
Eaze DoubleU *despite*
@@IncredibleIceCastle 💯one hunnid despite how hard his dad was he done it for the greater good
The struggle made him as good as he is much love nyjah
Never knew. Much Respect to NYJAH HUSTON!
Made me wanna drop a tear... Moms are unbeatable
I think nyjahs dad made him smoke alot of weed
Smoking weed is part of Rastafarian religion
drewfoomkay he better of had
Brando bee you fr?
@@brandobee3932 it is not xd it's a common myth, a lot of them do it though... It's more like tradition than religion now, like christmass you could say, that started being about jesus, but now it's about the presents and the tree:;))
You sound stupid
anyone else think when he was 11 he looks like zero from holes?
I thought the exact same thing
So Nyjah's mom is technically single?
UG Luis Savage Gamer
Bruh 🤦🏻♂️
By far best pro skater yet
i love how Nyjah is so appriciative of the things he's got
I was the one friend they allowed to be part of their family before nyjah became sponsored it was a great honor we didn't skateboard we practice and no other kids were allowed to practice with us Nyjahs father was an inspiration to me from the age of 14 now im 26 and a devout Ras Tafarian Nyjah is truly blessed
Nyjah your amazing brotha your family is beautiful I've been there god bless everyone yeah what up!!!!
Rob Dyrdek has done so much for people its amazing, such a great dude.
ya so much respect, you are very talented nyjah
Rob is such a G for that. Respect
I so love his story!
I've always loved Nyjah, he's an amazing skater and he has a good attitude. I see a lot of comments on youtube about people saying they hate his style and that he sucks.. Which doesn't make much sense.. Respect Nyjah.
That is amazing that after having such a difficult family situation and such a controlling father that he still can be so respectful of his dad. Even after all the crap he put Nyjah through, he was still very humble and respectful of his upbringing. More celebrities should be as grateful and thankful as he is.l
he seems so incredibly optimistic and positive about everything that he went through compared to how his family dealt with it. he seems very mature for his age. respect
that was deep and sad good job nyjah
I've always loved you Nyjah . Homies for life
I cried watching this, what the fuck I didn't come here to feel .
that was very respectful that they didn't end the documentary without saying something nice and respectful about his dad. there are two sides to every story and it's hard to understand parenting from someone else's perspective
I really didn't expect something like this
Very inspiring story from you and your mom always overcome the worst
Rob Dyrdek is such a sweet guy.
word up man nyjah is a humble ass dude mad props to his mom for all the support an beveling in him so much this is truly a inspirational story!
Im not crying you are
I have a two year old son that I named Ijah and I will follow in his fathers footsteps on coaching and practicing skateboarding and giving my son a belief structure on which he can grow ras tafari
When Nyjah was little he looked like Zero from Holes
I've always had respect for Nyjah now I respect him even more!!
skateboard god
mann this is an inspirational video documenting a young man and his success, and ya'll focused on his moms and sis. you niggas done goofed
mother gets custody.
Nyjah: yes i can wear skinny jeans now>
Nyjah had a hard life and now look where he is at. Just recently he won the Tampa pro 2K14 he is a great skateboarder and I can't wait to see how far he goes also he is Hot asf.
Element didn't dump him his dad started I&I and made him quit.
used to hate nyjah but this video compeltly changed my view on him new favorite skater his family lives in my town and i always see him around so good at skating and such a chill dude
Kinda felt like this painted his father in a negative light especially given the fact that we only heard one side of the story.
Wow, i couldn't imagine being raised like that, but yet it got him to where he is now...respect!
lets have a nice story about how bad the dad is, without him being able to defend himself. face it. nyjah is so good because his dad was strict. duh
way to repeat exactly what nyjah said at the end
Fits the feminist narrative, too! She also took all the kids from him.
Yeah nyjah literally said that, doesn’t make his dad making decisions and abusing nyjahs mother or family any less terrible.
@Homeslicehero Nyjah himself has had the opportunity to rekindle their relationship. He understands what happened and while not being able to forgive him, has come to terms with jim
this serves as an example for other parents, not only in skateboarding like any other sport, is all freedom, peace
i rate houston a 100/10
Wow, what a story. Nyjah is my hero!
Does anybody know the name of the song at the end?
Crazy it’s been 7 years
7:33 his sister is cute
How professional skateboarding can provide for the hole family when you win!😳
i knew being that good comes with a cost
👀
I kinda cried with this story. I never really hated on him, he is the best. And I respect that. He deserved all them wins, he put his own body on the line for his family! Nyjah Best in the World!
Anybody 2019😂
yeweee
Ye
Yeah lol
This made me tear.
I thought his mom was Whitney Huston?
Paddy O'Lantern Good thing he wasn’t her kid or he probably would have turned out a strung out, junkie train wreck like everyone else in that family.......
the violation is real
And, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Nyjah you are the realy best skater of all time keep up the good work and skate like you want to i will always support you!
'' you know nyjah huston land on his feet ''
Every 60 s a minute passes in africa
When I watch this for an unknown reason it remembers my "Band of Brother " it was based on a true story about paratroopers that fight in WW2 there was Captain Sobel nobody liked him because he was so strict and his own people even plan to kill him as soon they land in Normandy, he got another job instead, but after war much of soldiers he trained said that even most of them hated him, they survived WW2 mostly due his harsh training, I think it the same true with Nyjah Huston and his dad.
you inspire me to be commited to skating ;)
Nyjah, you are loved by more people than you know! Give your Mom a huge hug, she must deserve it!
nyjah's father was a good man strong morals and principles
he was just trying to shield them from what rasta's call Babylonian culture
mtv,hollywood,the demoralizing American culture
He did nothing wrong except for being a strict father
which these days is like being a woman beater
he fucking deserves hes fame...hes a hell of a skater... one of the worlds best today, he earned everything where he is now, hats of Nyjah, well done
mom is all about her account, his dad is a good man..
when he won the sls i nearly cried
so emotional
He is like Michael Jackson of skateboarding.
only he stayed black and isn't dead
Jakub p. you mean michael jordan
he means the abusive father strictly leading his career early on. in that sense his story resembles michael jacksons.
So proud of this kid.
Nyjahs mom...I WANNA SPEAK TO YOUR MANAGER
Nyjah is just someone else . He ain’t cocky about being amazing and that’s what makes him unique .
VICE look for nyjahs father and do an interview with him! that would be awesome (to see the other hand)
Rob Dyrdek is such a lovely person. You made history happen sir.
