This laptop is really affordable, but having to remove the motherboard, just to clean the fans or replace the thermal paste is giving me second thoughts. Dell definitely engineered this hoping the users will never clean the fans and thus will have to buy a new one when theirs inevitably starts overheating
Thank you so much for this guide...I was able to open a laptop and clean it and install PTM7950. THIS WAS FIRST TIME I EVER OPENED A LAPTOP IN MY LIFE..🎉
Thanks for this, idle temps have fallen from around 55°C to about 40°C! (It is currently 35°C and I don't have AC!!) I layed everything out neatly, but still had a screw left! But It's working fine!!
One of the nice features that Dell G15 model have is a self pop-up cover when you unscrew it. This will help the cover side prying much easier and less damaging.
@kluangh1tam ya it could be bc i only opened mine it was stuck pretty bad in there also i thought maybe bc it was the first time but when i reopened it again i had to deal with the same issue again as if those screws r not doing anything at all
Hey man, I'd like to thank you for the video. It helped me completely during the process. I managed to do everything with minimal problems, just a little bit with the USB and FLATS docking at the end 😅
Thanks a lot for this great detailed video. I was intimidated to try it out the first time, then I watched the video again and started started doing the same, minus applying the thermal paste. Thank you again.
Mine is 5520, is it the same process? My laptop works fine expect when playing AAA games. It lags. I feel like it needs an internal cleaning and probably upgrade the RAM from 16 to 32
thank you for the guide. I was wondering, my unit has a loose anchor screw on the back cover. Is it possible to replace it or do I have to buy entire back cover?
Anyone have any issues when disassembling and reapplying new paste. My idle temp been fluctuating at 50-60 at idle. Before I apply the paste, my CPU was at 40c idle. Did I mess up something? I follow step by step. I did notice the initial paste was all over the cpu
please help me i damaged the air filter strip of the upper lid how much will it cost me to repair it , is it a part of assembly of the upper lid because some are saying that you have to replace whole upper lid and that will cost me too much
Thanks a lot! If you don't mind, I've got a question. I own a Dell G15 5520 laptop with 512GB storage, 16GB RAM, RTX 3060, and a 12th gen Core i7. I'm thinking about upgrading the RAM to 64GB. Is that possible, and if so, will it perform well? I'm eyeing Crucial RAM options:
Crucial RAM 64GB Kit (2x32GB) DDR5 4800MT/s CL40 Laptop Memory CT2K32G48C40S5 Crucial RAM 64GB Kit (2x32GB) DDR5 5600MT/s Laptop Memory CT2K32G56C46S5 Which one do you think would be a better fit? Appreciate your response in advance.
Check your manufacturer support page for the allowed memory configurations. I do not think you can go above 32Gb in total. 2x 16Gb DDR5 Secondly also check what maximum bus speed your memory can support!
no before and after results of benchmarks to compare? what is the baseline so you know your thermal applications was indeed successful in reducing temps?
@@hoangminhx007 yeah i know, i was hoping for some benchmarks for confirmation purposes but this is still nice, definitely will be using this video when replacing thermal paste on my g15 , it's already due for late this month

I was reconnecting the battery to the motherboard then suddenly a spark appeared and now the labtop can't detect the charger Can somebody tell me what happened? 😢

My G15 5510 is 2 years old, it keeps working as the first day except for overheating. I can open it, but it takes a lot of time

Thanks! Mine had more pieces, but this helped me figure out how to get the fan out so I could fix it!
Good morning.
Can you tell me what thickness are the thermopads used in this model?

Of course those bastards at dell put the heatsink on top... Well this is going to come with a lot more potential for damage and failure now.

Ty pro nice video ❤❤
But when i finished some kays from kaybord didn’t work can u tell me why 😢
Hello ! For you when we must change thermical paste how many years ?

remove the dust and it was like falling on the rest of the motherboard?
This is a demo, you have to remove dust away from the motherboard, it's obvious!

lol. he just make the video about how to disassembly not benchmarks

Dell thermal paste is good quality its thick and doesn't dry up quickly

Putting the plastic back was a nightmare as it never fit properly I guess it's a manufacture problem
can this be followed fr 5520?
Yes same exact process's
Brother where is bios cell in this laptop
can i follow this for g15 5520?
All the g15s have the same model brother u can follow whether it's 5515 or 5510 or 5520

you shorted your motherboard. the IC charger seems to be broken. thats why this need to be done by someone know how.
@@asdfsdfsadfasdfsfwhy does that happen and how to prevent it?
