I’ve just done mine after watching this but mine was proper tight coming out and had to tap it to get it back in apart from that perfect. thanks a lot bro
Good man. I've just seen this after spotting the link you shared on the MR2 Facebook page. My replacement o ring has sat on my workbench for at least two years - this encourages me to get it done!!!!
Really like this format, going to undergo this myself soon. Clear and well shot. Good to hear you are gaining subscribers too - here's one more for you!
Interesting point fitting a slightly bigger O ring. I just replaced mine today and had bought an original from Toyota-wish I had thought of that as I am not so sure the direct replacement won’t leak too in a few weeks. I am disappointed that you didn’t show the actual turning of the engine as I am having issues with that part as I can’t get my 19mm socket to fit as there is a suspension mount in the way. But thanks for the good tip in the o ring which if I get another leak I will try again with.
Try going in from the rear to get access. Its not an easy access to be fair but it is possible. I also used a ratchet to assist. Many people use the alternative o-ring. It seems to have better longevity.
Another good video. A garage changed this seal for me a while back. My next planned jobs on my MR2 are the handbrake cable and electric aerial. Do you have a list of jobs you plan to do on yours?
Thank Phil. There's a LOT more to come!!! The rear subframe is off and awaiting the new one going back on, the exhaust needs to come off for a new manifold and maybe new back box, the rear brakes are off for painting and new discs plus pads, the lower universal joint on the steering is being swapped...there's a bit of rust on the chassis, the front brakes will be painted and new discs plus pads, the steering rack needs rust treatment and painting.... all going to be videos and thats if I find nothing else plus the interior is getting love too.
Hey! thanks for the o-ring details, I used to do 5th gear and doing a push pull a little and it always clicked. cheeerioooo !

Glad I can help. The channel is all about inspiring those who don't feel they can or haven't felt the incentive to do the work.

Thanks Tom. Welcome to the channel

good video fella, keep up the good work.. btw is that oil seeping though the new rocker gasket @10:03
Thank for that. Its not oil, its a little bit of sealant residue from the fitment.
