Thank you for the solution for the annoying spring loaded tool!!!!

My pleasure! That gets me about half the time I use the software. (Seems to ease up after Photoshop has been running for an hour or two.)

Pretty good video idea this one Deke -
    1. That spring-loaded shortcut glitch, where you can't switch your tool with a letter shortcut, because it keeps going back to the last one? I've just realised I'd simply forgotten what the solution was to that. Represents a huge glitch I've been experiencing for the last few years, with no apparent solution - now SOLVED. Thanks!!
    2. At 12:23 - those filters still being "active" is because you had the layer mask highlighted, which is a raster mask - not the vector object.
Agree about most of your comments on most of the stuff. That "auto-select" layers now set as a default, is just bonkers.

First of all, at 12:23, HA! (Good catch!) Second, glad to help on the tool switch. (That one drives me nuts.) And glad you agree re: the Move tool behavior!

I guess my Photoshop is really messed up because I have never had any of these issues in the past 13 years! Very strange

Touched by an angel. (Here’s to another 13 years of the same. 😀)

My biggest annoyance is when I want to resize a layer by clicking the corner handle to activate transform and then try and drag the corner but the cursor is locked to the corner and drags the layer instead of resizing it. I need to click twice to allow it to resize but I’ll often move the layer slightly between clicks cause I’m not a robot and I have to “undo” the move and try again. Ahhhhh

With the Move tool or with Free Transform? I’m trying to see if I can replicate your problem.

I have a strange occurance in Photoshop. If I have a grayscale image on a layer with mostly empty space, Levels does nothing to affect the layer. I have to merge the layer down onto a white layer and then it works. What am I doing wrong. I would have thought Levels should work on any layer.

    • @yinoveryang4246
      @yinoveryang4246 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

It's probably an Smart Object layer. Right click on it and choose "rasterize." Or even better, make your Levels as an adjustment layer and clip it to the layer below. It could also be a vector layer, the solution is the same. If this doesn't work press the Q key, and check you are not in Quick Mask mode

@@yinoveryang4246 Not a Smart Object. Usually part of a logo or illustration. Just a lot of empty space. It looks like PS does not like the absence of a lot of white with Levels. It works just after I merge that layer down with a full white layer. I should try Curves next time it comes up.

    • @dekeNow

It’s not a Levels vs Curves thing (as you wonder in your 2nd comment). It’s that your active layer has no levels (or, more accurately, just one). My guess is that your layer has translucency built into it (those empty regions), which appear gray but are part of the alpha info built into the transparency mask. When you merge down to the white layer, you turn the translucent pixels into shades of gray, which Levels, Curves, and the rest can then see.
This is a GREAT confusing issue that I will add to my list. It’s always mystifying when the composite view of an image isn’t quite reflective of how the layers are constructed.

@@bbrachman Yes as Deke says, of your layer is composed of completely black pixels, with only transparency, - when you use Levels or Curves nothing will happen (unless you pull the bottom left slider to the right). That could be the issue

before reset prefs, simply close Ps and restart Ps. No good? Try restart your computer.

      Always worth trying.
