- These commercials aired on NBC on December 20th, 1986
1. NBC Family Special Intro
2. "Christmas Snow" Intro (The blonde girl at 0:19 is a young Melissa Joan Hart. Intros like this with random scenes strung together are so bewildering without a narrator explaining the overall plot)
3. Dupont Stainmaster Carpet (Some kids just want to watch the carpet stain)
4. Kodak Disc Camera
5. Weaver Chicken Nuggets (Oh god...the gong sound effect)
6. "Christmas Snow" Commercial Bumper
7. Ultra Pampers (2:21 NAP NAP)
8. NyQuil (With the voice of John Huston aka Gandalf)
9. Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes
10. Old Spice
11. Promo for "Jets Vs Bengals"
12. Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Cakes
13. Hanes
14. Primatene Tablets
15. "Christmas Snow" Commercial Bumper
16. Promo for "Christmas Eve"
17. Inhumanoids Toys at Child World
18. Isotoner Leather Gloves
19. WNBC 4 News Bumper
20. "Christmas Snow" Commercial Bumper
21. Black & Decker Flamebuster (When you require a fire extinguisher right next to the stove when you're just cooking some damn pancakes...maybe you should just stop cooking)
22. Pulsar Watches
23. Mrs. Butterworth's Syrup
24. Milk Bone
25. Promo for "Annie", "Bob Hope's Bagful Of Christmas Cheer" and "Amy Grant: Headin' Home For The Holidays" (With...Dennis Weaver and Ed Begley, Jr?)
26. Advil
27. Master Card
28. Promo for "The Golden Girls", "Amen" and "Christmas In Washington"
29. Promo for "Saturday Night Live" (This is a classic episode and featured the sketch where William Shatner told Trekkies at a Star Trek convention to "Get a life!": www.dailymotio... and also had one of my favorite sketches ever...a spoof of "It's A Wonderful Life" with the "alternate ending" where they all beat up Mr. Potter: • It's a Wonderful Life:... It's too bad Shatner has never hosted SNL again, as he has good comedy chops)
30. Promo for "Alf" and "Amazing Stories"
31. NBC News Digest
a. OPEC agrees to cut oil production
b. Kilauea lava flows destroy homes in Hawaii
32. Nikon One Touch Camera (With the voice of Vincent Price)
33. Pilot Whales beach themselves in Cape Cod
34. Panasonic CD Players (There's no way that enormous boombox could play CD's well while being moved around like that back then, as reliable antiskip technology was still around 10 years away)
35. New York Telephone
09:27 I always liked those NBC bumpers with the stars of the show saying something in the window, just something very cozy about it lol
Also I would've loved to see the outtakes of these ones from Bea Arthur, looks like this one is take 28 and she's getting annoyed about it already 😂
Another classic sketch from that Shatner SNL episode is the one where the Enterprise is a restaurant and Kahn shows up with a health inspector to shut it down.
Christmas Snow-unofficial title:Clarissa Explains It All..to Santa
Weaver Chicken Nuggets-Mr Weaver is not Dennis
Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Cakes-i'd be eating dinner quickly too if one of those was being served for dessert
Black & Decker Flamebuster-she probably put it to good use during the holidays
Mrs Butterworth's Syrup-warning to Mrs B: Don't go near the kitchen of the woman in the previous ad 😂
The Golden Girls-Blanche to Sophia:"I heard that!"
Saturday Night Live-loved the TJ Hooker skit also
Amazing Stories-very good episode
Panasonic CD Players-this premise would've actually made for a interesting television series,a group of music-lovers try to restore color to a black and white world
DuPont Stainmaster Carpet- If this kid is easily entertained by watching the carpet get stained, imagine how easily he would get entertained by other things like watching the paint dry.
Weaver Chicken Nuggets- Hearing the Gong sound effect out of nowhere when they introduce the Teriyaki flavored chicken nuggets is amusing to me.
Mrs. Buttersworth’s Syrup- Hearing the kid and Mrs. Buttersworth laughing at the end of this commercial makes me want to laugh with them, too.
All I want for Christmas is a Time Machine. Who wants to go back to the 80s with me?
Right on,hope!!!🎅🌴🌲!
Yes!
Man I'm hungry seeing this.
11:32 - Yeah, this woman’s going to have a great relationship with her daughter in law…
🎅Thank you for the trip down wonderful memory lane, and Merry Christmas!🐪🌴🌲!
1:35 - Judging by that “gong”, Mr. Weaver needs some cultural sensitivity training…
03:16 The Bengals amassed a club-record 621 yards net offense in a 52-21 victory over the New York Jets on December 21. No NFL team has since matched that total in a regulation-time game since.
Also interesting to see Rashad and Costas here as the face of the NFL for NBC because in the 90s they were the face of the NBA for NBC which is funny because Ahmad Rashad was an ex football player who's now known more for his NBA coverage and Michael Jordan interviews.
That game ended up closing out a 5-game skid for the Jets (who were 10-1 and giving many New Yorkers hope for an all-New York Super Bowl); yet the Jets not only managed to back into the playoffs but host the wild-card game due to winning the conference record tie-breaker (Jets went 8-4 in conference games, while the Bengals, Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs all finished 7-5 in conference games)
I have that "Santa '85/'86" episode of "Amazing Stories" and like to watch it at Christmas time. It is a classic.
I don't know what was scarier the Weaver gong or the blood red AVAILABLE AT A&S at 5:55!
Also starred the late Katherine Helmond, who starred on “Soap” and “Who’s the Boss?”
