I wasn't big on him during his Mad Tv stint but man after Keenan and Peele and then his movies he directed (plus the underrated Keanu movie ) I think of him as a legend and genius now. So glad he was able to reach the heights he has and on his terms
If you grew up in the 90s Mad TV was far superior to SNL: Aries Spears, Michael McDonald, Debra Wilson, Alex Borstein (Family Guy) Orlando Jones, Phillip Lamar (Green Lantern animated series) Bobby Lee
Hey should laugh hard, and laugh loud. He is a a genius. I would go see anything he puts out. And if Key is in it, even better. Those 2 are one hell of a duo.
Fulfilling business contracts is not an act of desperation. Why'd you think an employer doesn't let his workers leave early even though there is not much to do?
I agree 💯 with your analysis at the end! "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!" Without him going through all this mess we wouldn't have had him produced all these movies and TV shows like Key &Peele.
"I want to to show them by being a producer" well, taking a look at the box office receipts from "get out" alone, I'd say he laughed last and laughed loudest
I'm a huge fan of Jordan's other horror movies like U,s, Nope (watched it a dozen times by now), and Get Out also loved his new twilight zone. Can't wait to see what else he's got coming out. I just got back from a brooklyn comic con on sunday and met another cast number for Mad TV, Debra Wilson. I only knew her from that work on Mad TV. She was such a nice woman to meet. Very friendly, gave you all the time you needed. Made me want to get back in line and speak to her again but i wasnt selfish to take up her time when others were on the line again. When I got home I wanted to learn what other projects he was working on. Found a video on TH-cam where she was interviewed and explaoned that she too left on bad terms with Mad TV as well because at the time she was the only black woman in the cast who did what she was doing using her talent but wanted equal pay to the other actors on the show and because they refused she left also on bad terms. But she had the class to smile through any pain i might have drudged up inadvertently and given me a good experience.
Jordan Peele joined MadTV at a time when MadTV was falling off. Overall, the show had lost its spark and creativity. Peele never really seemed to fit in. He needed that Tracey Ullman/Kids in the Hall type of freedom, and he got that with Key and Peele. It's kind of silly for him to feel he needed revenge because he was stupid enough to sign a contract blocking him from his dream show. He's done great things, and will do plenty more, so it all worked out.
Great video comedy hype . Not only is it great info about this mans journey but it’s also inspiring to say the least 💯 much love from Memphis Tennessee
I know Key & Peele are both their own men with their own careers and projects now, but I wonder if their bond is as strong as what it was when they saw success together. I'd hate to see such a successful teamwork end in negative light. Both brought out the best in each other and such a dynamic duo hadn't been seen in decades.
yeah that is bullshit. madtv didn't really need him. Phil LaMarr for example had better appearance but left so early. One thing I can't deny. Non of the madtv cast members achieved anything outside of madtv. Maybe he got a good point with that.
I like Jordan Peele. He's a really funny actor, but he had to know that Mad TV was not going to let him out of his contract so he can go to a different competing sketch comedy show. I mean that's just common sense and for him to have any bad feelings towards them, is absolutely absurd because without them as a stepping stone, he wouldn't be where he is today. He owes them big time for the exposure
I’ve loved Jordan Peele’s work since I was 10 years old. It’s been amazing growing up into adulthood watching him up to now, enjoying his latest roles and movies. Truly one of the best.
Yes and no. His contract was running out and the fact that he wanted to go meant he wasn't gonna extend it. Any good employer would write a good letter of recommendation (figuratively speaking) and not burn all bridges, for potential future projects.
Look at his art... I feel It's obvious they saw his talent and wanted to use him as a palatable platform for there programing and upon discovering there agenda he chanelled his talent and creativity to reveal and out shine there vomit inducing propaganda to balance and counteract there wickedness
This is so interesting, especially because only recently after watching the show on youtube did I find out he was even on the show. I guess i stopped watching very early on with the seasons and dropped it for SNL. Man,their skits were so different than anything I remember from childhood with the original cast. I would've loved to see Peele on SNL,it would've been legendary. I'm so so glad he didn't give up and progressed into the talented legend we know now.
Early 2000’s were great you’re buggin?! Justin Timberlake, Lindsay Lohan, Tina Fey, Amy Poller, Will Ferrell, Alec Baldwin, Chris Rock the list goes on
Never was a fan of SNL. The absolute ONLY reason I would watch SNL in the 90’s was to watch the musical act. I watched Mad TV religiously up until when I had to leave for the Army in early 2003 though. Then a bit after that, we were given The Chapelle show! Hard times in the 2000’s while in the Army with all the shit going on but man Chapelle show kept us entertained as hell!!!
Jordan Peele is a brilliant writer in many genres. I'm sad he never got to live that one part of his dream, but I'm blown away that so much opened up for him that he had never thought about doing. He had a brighter star to follow!
Sometimes the biggest blessings can come out of the most devastating disappointments. I wish nothing but the best for Jordan Peele, he is amazingly talented.
Exactly, it’s an agreement between parties. Just because your dream job comes along you still have to fulfil your obligation. If that was his reasoning it silly, he signed a contract.
True but with him having only a few weeks left in his contract and given his tenure with them. They could of handled it better because even from a business standpoint, it doesn’t seem favorable to have any comedian work for you after you kinda screw him over. IMO that is.
Stacey Menheart then he would be doing SNL for years and not get the idea for expanding himself as well as not having an opportunity to work with Keegan Michael Key for their own show. MadTV saved Jordan Peele from making a huge life mistake
Why get mad at madtv? Madtv did nothing wrong. Why would they let him out of his contract to go to their rival? Makes no sense whatever. Madtv helped him. He helped them. Contract over then he got his own show rather than being on snL. Then he became a producer. Whats the big deal? He is tripping
Vesperia that is the point they wanted to play him on his talent when he was worth more and instead they played the bs card of “check the market” they should’ve kept him and made their show BETTER
I know it’s kinda dickish to say but I honestly I’m kinda glad MAD pulled that Stunt because we definitely wouldn’t of gotten key and peele if he went SNL, would love to see him guest star on SNL one day as a “what you could of had” kind of stint
I’m sorry a contracts a contract, and key and peele only happened cause of Dave Chappells success, business is business! (You could say MADD TV’s decision is what really helped shape his career🤷🏾♂️ Side note: I am a fan though
Why he upset with Madtv? He had a contract he had to honor. When it was up he left...like a normal person lol. SNL would've delayed him from his success. It wasn't for him. Don't get why he doesn't see the blessing in staying with Madtv until the end of his contract.
Not really, the contract had only a few weeks left at the time. Peele made it clear he didn't want to renew it, so there would have been very little incentive for MadTV to hold him up to it other than out of spite.
I don’t blame MadTv for there actions....I wouldn’t have released him for his contract either to join the rival show.....That wouldn’t have been a good business decision.
I think you need to do some more research as Jordan Peele studied improv at ‘Boom Chicago’ in Amsterdam, Netherlands from 2001 to 2003. This was a comedy club which did improv multiple times a week. I attended his last show before he went to MadTV.
SNL is total horse crap Chappelles show in living color even Tim and eric awesome show got a laugh outta me its like the new York Yankees of sketch comedy overrated and not as good
Really depends on the performances. Not every sketch is gonna be gold. Even Chappelle. Ilc and K and P had duds. Its yhe nature of comedy. Not every joke is a classic
I for one am glad that Jordan Peele has the courage and will to take steps to achieve his dreams. I'm also thankful that he found a partner in Keegan Michael Key who seems to share said dream. We all benefit from this partnership. Thank you, to you both for all the art and skills you show us. I am very appreciative to your works.
What I liked about Key & Peele is that Keegan is focused on detail and be-livability, and Jordan is more about the big picture and pay off. Most of their sketches you'll notice Jordan is the pay off. Be it Obama's final word, a hit man getting taken away by a piano, to a astronaut out in space so he can say 'biiiiiiiitch!' safely. But it was Keegan's great character set ups that made the pay offs so extra special. Luther, Chef Ramsey, Valet buddy - Keegan played it all with such conviction and simplicity. A great duo!

I'm so proud of Jordan Peele and his career story is very inspiring, especially for us black people, showing we can do anything we wish to.
@k. c. Peele is half White, so yeah. lol
@@GabY-yd7nt his skin is brown and thats what the world sees and that's how he is judged. Stfu

Wow no Orlando Jones at the mad tv reunion
I wonder if they did him the same way?
Neither was Keegan-Michael Key. I'm wondering if they feel the same way and the show did them the same way? I'd love to hear what they have to say about their time on Mad TV too.
I wonder why Aries Spears wasn't in the reunion. I know he has beef with Alex Borstein (aka Lois Griffin).
@@kenterminateddq5311 Really? What was their beef?
@@christopherdieudonne She allegedly used racial slurs towards Aries and Debra. Ironically, Debra and Phil Lamar did voice work on Family Guy. 🤷🏾♂️
Jordan Peele is just an amazing actor and producer. A fine damn successful man.
Still don't know how SNL is still on the air.
....Keenan Thompson!
Because Saturday Night Live is funnier and a better show.
Because it brings in ratings still.
Agreed
I think it's a special pet project to some executives
Mad tv was still amazing and one of my favorite skit comedy shows. And these two guys definitely saved the show after their best comedians left.
Im glad dat Jordan Peele left mad tv because we probley would have neva been able to see his ability to grow and see one of his best movies today (Get Out)😏
We wouldn’t know who Jordan Peele was if he wasn’t never on mad tv.
Yeah he literally said that in the video

Peele is such a racist and most sketches are always race bating and most of the time against white people.......such a double standard SMH!
@@BC-wz7rq he got his agenda from the elites in Hollywood. It's a cycle they keep doing have the ppl fight over anything anything differently amongst themselves.
Mad TV is a "CLASSIC" of its own! 👏👏
This isn't the first time that someone couldn't get out of a contract to pursue a dream gig. Pierce Brosnan almost lost a chance to play James Bond, when the producers of Remington Steele refused to let him out of his contract to play to role of a lifetime. Thankfully, he re had gotten that second chance to do so.
Smart man he got out 😀

Both "US" and "Get Out" are classic films.
US was classic hyped up 🗑.
US was hot garbage
Neither of those are old enough to be considered classic.
Get out yes. Us yes but you have re watch it.
What about Keanu?

Don’t insult those shows like that! SNL has always sucked! 😑😑😑
Ultra facts!
John Dough mediocre people who loved SNL for its mediocrity. I mean a dull formula that will always make you money. Even if you know it’s terrible it wouldn’t stop you from selling it
"Everything happens for a reason". We don't always understand why certain doors don't open up for us. He is living proof that closed doors can lead to new, and often times more rewarding opportunities. Peele knew what needed to happen in order for him to have the freedom to produce his own material, and he went and did that. Mad respect!!
I use to love MADTV! Hate the show no longer comes on.
It’s been off for over a decade, you’re just now mad that it no longer comes on

I wasn't big on him during his Mad Tv stint but man after Keenan and Peele and then his movies he directed (plus the underrated Keanu movie ) I think of him as a legend and genius now.
So glad he was able to reach the heights he has and on his terms
Joshua Villa It’s likely that MadTV held Jordan back from doing the kind of material he wanted to do. I agree, he found his voice on Key&Peele.
@@cityhawk I can agree with assessment. I mean he had his moments on Mad Tv but they weren't non stop like his own show with Keenan

True i did the samthing
If you grew up in the 90s Mad TV was far superior to SNL: Aries Spears, Michael McDonald, Debra Wilson, Alex Borstein (Family Guy) Orlando Jones, Phillip Lamar (Green Lantern animated series) Bobby Lee
one minute this video is talking about 2015, then 2003, then 2015 again, then "fast forward to 2012"... what lol
used to love MadTV that shit was lit back in the days, i would watch it everynight after my night elementary school
Keanu was funny ASF..
I cried lol
Really? 🤨
yes!!! I couldn't wait til that came out in theaters!!! funny af.
Hey should laugh hard, and laugh loud. He is a a genius. I would go see anything he puts out. And if Key is in it, even better. Those 2 are one hell of a duo.
That was an act of desperation on mad tv's part
Fulfilling business contracts is not an act of desperation. Why'd you think an employer doesn't let his workers leave early even though there is not much to do?
@@farlonmuentes6004 inefficient work flow. and not managing them well
SO well narrated. Passionate and respectful. Of course, the story is the show, and the dialogue...is the music score :)
Man this video looked like it was an interview with Peele. But all there are are clips and a random voice over.
I agree 💯 with your analysis at the end!
"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!"
Without him going through all this mess we wouldn't have had him produced all these movies and TV shows like Key &Peele.
Mind you this is the guy who made 'Get Out' and 'Us'
this is actually true. I met Peele in NYC while working at Barnes & Noble and i asked him why he left and he said the same thing.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR COMMENTARY ME SMITH! It is informative and refreshing.
Mad tv to me edge out snl im just saying
Great video comedy hype . Not only is it great info about this mans journey but it’s also inspiring to say the least 💯 much love from Memphis Tennessee
SNL has never been great and has been terrible for at least 20 years.
Yep!
Facts.
That’s literally one of the dumbest comments I’ve ever seen.
@David Clinging Do you know what an opinion is or do you just get on youtube to start shit?
SNL has been on T.V. since 1975 and I wouldn't even consider it to be in the top 10 of the best sketch comedy shows.
I know Key & Peele are both their own men with their own careers and projects now, but I wonder if their bond is as strong as what it was when they saw success together. I'd hate to see such a successful teamwork end in negative light. Both brought out the best in each other and such a dynamic duo hadn't been seen in decades.
So he is mad that he wasn't being let of of a contract early to go to a competitor?
But because hes black it means more...? XD
yeah that is bullshit. madtv didn't really need him.
I ♥️ Jordan Peele he took a risk and it paid off😃
I love these two and can never see them apart!! I miss the K&P show.
*REVENGE IS A DISH BEST SERVED COLD......
BBIIIITTTTCCCCCHHHH*
I’ve loved Jordan Peele’s work since I was 10 years old. It’s been amazing growing up into adulthood watching him up to now, enjoying his latest roles and movies. Truly one of the best.
Why would they let him out his contract to go to the competition? No business would do that. So him being mad isn't a real reason to be mad
I think it was more than his contact something else had to happened behind cameras. Cause what they did was a bussiness move.
Yes and no. His contract was running out and the fact that he wanted to go meant he wasn't gonna extend it. Any good employer would write a good letter of recommendation (figuratively speaking) and not burn all bridges, for potential future projects.
It was ending that month. He didn’t break contract he was just not going to renew. So something else happened for the hate.
To an inferior company at that.
SNL IS GARBAGE ENTERTAINMENT
Nowadays! 80s and 90s were 🔥!
Early 2000’s were great you’re buggin?! Justin Timberlake, Lindsay Lohan, Tina Fey, Amy Poller, Will Ferrell, Alec Baldwin, Chris Rock the list goes on
But it got the audience, and in the end thats what matters.
Relax

I'm glad Jordan Peele is a director/producer now. His movies "Get Out" and "Us" are my favorite movies. Enough said.
Loved Get Out. I didn't like US at all though. My take anyways
They were good but there's much better movies out there
@@luistorres6956 Of course, but these are my favorite movies.
Sometimes the biggest blessings can come out of the most devastating disappointments.
I wish nothing but the best for Jordan Peele, he is amazingly talented.
What did he think a contract was? So MadTV did not look at themselves as a development ground for the competition, not a shock.
It was a few more weeks until the contract was over it's a dick move in terms of business
@@jamilbarbee6169 so every business is a dick because they aren't allowing their employees leave their shifts early?
These are the videos we love thank you !
Word
LONGEVITY!!!!
@Vesperia thats not how business works.
Peele stated that being on SNL was always his dream. Now here’s his chance. Maybe, he felt MadTv kept him from that.
(You could say MADD TV’s decision is what really helped shape his career🤷🏾♂️
Side note: I am a fan though
And what created Dave Chappelle success
Key & peel started 9 years after Chappell and Dave didn’t invent sketch comedy
Kegan has already hosted SNL. SNL should ask him to host at least once, give him creative freedom for the entire episode.
Why he upset with Madtv? He had a contract he had to honor. When it was up he left...like a normal person lol. SNL would've delayed him from his success. It wasn't for him. Don't get why he doesn't see the blessing in staying with Madtv until the end of his contract.
Yeah he sounds like a baby
Not really, the contract had only a few weeks left at the time. Peele made it clear he didn't want to renew it, so there would have been very little incentive for MadTV to hold him up to it other than out of spite.
@@seagullman87 why do you think employers doesn't let their workers leave before the end of their shifts?
@@seagullman87 he was trying to go to a competitor
Madtv was comedy as hell. Everyone did their part
I don’t blame MadTv for there actions....I wouldn’t have released him for his contract either to join the rival show.....That wouldn’t have been a good business decision.
This was a great piece. You have an awesome speaking voice.
Well Let's Hope They Ask Him To Host SNL. I Wouldn't Miss It!

Daaaamn thanks for the upload ! 👏
Madtv has gone from funny then later years trash since most good old school cast members left, the show itself just became a joke

I think you need to do some more research as Jordan Peele studied improv at ‘Boom Chicago’ in Amsterdam, Netherlands from 2001 to 2003. This was a comedy club which did improv multiple times a week. I attended his last show before he went to MadTV.
