👍That is the Prayer for his homeland, the humanity and our earth ... a masterpiece. We live in dark times. Lots of wars, hunger, suffering, pandemics. (Dimash lost two of his mentors by covid19) ... The bleeding Kobyz-player and the dying pianist (composer) are victims in this dark time. Dimash is the burning soul of a musician and he burns for us humans ... and there is hope. When humanity overcomes the rocks together, the sun rises, a new day is dawning.

If you check real factual stats, you will notice that we are actually living the most peaceful, safe and pacific moment of human history. It is about facts and numbers, data available. The only difference is that today we have so many sources of information that it APPEARS to be like if you have a lot happening and a lot bad, but it is just because news focus on bad things and little about good things. Once again, we humans are living a golden age compared to any single period of previous history.

Kazakhstan does have a long, painful history of wars and genocdes. It was also hit very hard by the Covid pandemic. Perhaps that was the reference of the earlier post.

The song is called «Oh, my sacred land» («QAIRAN ELIM»). Dimash sings in Kazakh. The song is dedicated not only to Dimash's homeland - Kazakhstan, but also to the entire planet Earth. Earth is the birthplace of all humanity. The ancient Kazakh instrument KOBYS has two strings and makes mystical sounds. When Dimash "burns" it means that his soul can "burn" for the sake of the Motherland. Blood runs, it means that you can shed blood for the Motherland. When a pianist dies, it means that only death can make a real musician stop making music. It's an allegory. Filming took place in Kazakhstan. This song is prayer! Prayer for our land, for the people, for our children: "The universe, help humanity!".
//////////// Before the song, the older narrator (but it's not Dimash's voice) speaks: «The Great Steppe! Ek loof jou genade lande. I praise your vast expanses from Altai to Atyrau, from Yayi to Ili, from Alatau to Saryarka. They are silent witnesses to my happy times. I praise the Great Steppe, the cradle of the mighty Turkic world. Hey, silent world! Don't be silent, holding your breath. There are descendants behind you. Nothing stopped them in times of severe litigation and contractions. The Great Steppe has generous masters who have not broken down or exhausted before the dodgy temper of the fickle world. Their hearts are magnanimous and the souls are noble. They have a patron, about whom no stranger and whom no stranger feels».

The pianist in the video wrote the music. Two of Dimash's mentors have died from Covid. Early in the song the lyrics said that difficulties temper a person. The way they used to temper steel to make it strong enough to make a sword would be to subject it to fire. Even if he and the pianist didn't survive to see the new dawn, their efforts helped make it possible.

In these days of people going against their own history (speaking from USA perspective) and ignoring the very sacrifices of the past generations....we ALL need to ponder on this. The past generations fought and died in hopes that future generations would learn to love and live with one another. When I see the burning- I think of the Monks who in the past have lit themselves on fire, protesting injustices- the ultimate sacrifice to wake the world up. Each of us should love and appreciate our homeland and those honored sacrifices. Dimash and his friends had 2 of their elderly mentors die of Covid-19 and this has been a time in history to prioritize what really matters in our lifetimes....well this is how I see the song. I love that he sort of leaves that to each of us to interpret for ourselves

This passionate song tells something of the pain of invasion and occupation of the homeland Dimash loves deeply and yet through so much pain and trouble a way forward to peace is found. That braided, twisted river opening to calm. The dark stone mountain at the end with lush treed countryside beyond. Trouble, hope, peace. So much symbolism here. The pianist is the composer. Dimash's voice is so powerful and evocative. I think this is a work of art.

For me this was a very emotional song. The song was his prayer for his country and humanity. He had me crying within the first 30 seconds and all the way to the end. Dimash's appeal does not require him to do vocal acrobats and 3 octave runs. His beautiful timbre and emotional delivery are every bit as spell-binding. Maybe even more.

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than seven languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices like "Marcelito", Dimash has his own style and is the creator of the "Popera" he also has a very pleasant, humble and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, Tenor, Sopra no, against Tenor, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, whistle tone, reaching a D8 live at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from Venezuela

Breaks my heart every time i watch it. The Kazakh language is so beautiful. The landscape in black and white is so stark and stunning. Good God, could anything be so emotional and not bring you to tears and break your heart? This land, this Kazakhstan, has been fought over and caught between waring factions for generations. All they want is peace. Just simply peace. The shift from black and white to color at the end offers hope as does the major shift in key. Heavens, this is gorgeous.

Hi Ken, thank you for your reaction.
Qairan (holy with a lot of suffer) elim (homeland) was made in the surroundings of Almaty, the former capital of Qasachstan (Kasachstan) - one of the most beautiful cities I know with a spectacular landscape: high mountains (some of them higher than 5000 m), unique sees, rivers, national parks, canyons and big steppes...
It is a premiere for Dimash, he is not only an actor, singer and a member of this team, but also a co-director of this video. At the beginning of the video you can see a historical part, which was given to Dimash's team from Kasakhfilm. And you are right, the narrators voice at the beginning isn't his voice, but from a wellknown kasakh actor.
In the lyrics of this song you can't find the name of his country. He sings that he wishes the only one thing, that the heart of his homeland beats forever and he wishes health for the world. The word health stands here also for peace... So he prays for whole world...It seems, he wants to show, that we are one. So this song can be a prayer for his, for my, for yours and for all peoples of this planet homeland...
By the way, do you know, that the last or new videos on the official channel of Dimash have their copyright conditions? This video is one of them. I couldn't find in your description the source of this video...And hope, that you know about this new conditions...

Beautiful. A song inspired by the painful past and the painful, difficult time in which the whole world is now. And as you say, with hope in the end. Dimash lost two musical mentors to covid 19. Please react Samaltau from Tokyo Jazz Festival plus, live stream from Dimash's home studio, just him, sitting on a stool with crossed legs, no shoes, and two musicians with traditional instruments. You've seen one - it's a Kobyz, and the other one doesn't - imitates the sound of flowing water. Dimash sings a song about a young boy, forcibly drafted into the army, who go away in a column of such unfortunates as he is, farther and farther away from his home village at the foot of Mount Samal, not knowing if his old parents can handle themselves and would he see them again. His despair is accompanied by the sound of the wind, the murmur of flowing water, the howling of wolves. At the stop, he writes down his thoughts on paper - this is how the words of this song are created. Nobody knows the author's name.
If someone listens and does not understand the words, his imagination starts to go crazy and it only depends on him what magic place where Dimash's voice will take him. Pure magic. Greetings from Poland , thanks Ken 💖

Sorina Bocsan "That Piano is on fire because in hard times culture must be sacrificed." - Couldn't disagree more! It means exactly the opposite. Even when the world is on fire, people shouldn't lose their spirituality (and spirit as well). Music is the embodiment of harmony and beauty in sound. And the pianist is ready to sacrifice his life but he'll continue to inspire people/give them strength and hope with his art until his last breath.

Yes, it is about the specialty of that land. Dimash directed the video. And it is about the covid pandemic (the fire symbolism) and one of his mentors, a musician, died of covid (the guy playing the piano falling into the water). But I love that video because it is such deep feeling for one's home and wishing it's heart to beat forever. That's devotion.

You have asked what does it symbolize - I believe it talks of the history of Kazakhstan which is full of wars, conquest and many inner struggles, which have (since war is never a good thing) weakened the glory of one of the most breathtaking lands and peoples, but there is hope in respecting and learning from mistakes and turning towards peace, concentrating on the future and thus reviving the homeland...

I think Dimash is literally crying in this piece. I get that he is very frustrated by the situation in his country and the world. How things are managed poorly with COVID and that people are dying due to that. Lighting himself on fire reminds me the Buddhist monks form of protest called self-immolation
    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-immolation
“Self-immolation is the act of killing oneself, typically for political or religious reasons, particularly by burning. It is often used as an extreme form of protest or in acts of martyrdom. It has a centuries-long recognition as the most extreme form of protest possible by humankind.”
Dimash’s soul is suffering. As one who is always preaching for love and peace, I think he is devastated and this song is his way to express that.
I was deeply moved by this song.

I think Dimash shows profound artistic maturity to put the message of this video 'forward' vs himself.
If you have not yet watched Samaltau (the video recommended at the end that he recorded from home for the Tokyo Jazz Festival) I highly recommend it. It is similar in key ways to this song. I believe the title to the song above is part of the lyrics in Samaltau, and I think that you will be both moved and impressed by the performance. Looking forward to more of your reactions, especially to Dimash. Greetings from Alaska.

The wolf is a symbol of society, it closes its eyes, perhaps asking us to look within. The Kobyz solo was freestyled. Dimash sings about being tempered by adversity then is set alight and comes through the experience/process stronger and hopeful. Tempering being the use of fire/heat to strengthen steel. The composer dies at the piano, his music teacher is one of three people close to him who died from Coronavirus. The image of Dimash’s torso within the landscape, that we are inseparable from the world we live in, the planet we are on. Dimash sang about us all being connected in We Are One. Dimash runs deep in his thoughts and understanding. I’d love to hear him speak about philosophy and the planet we all live on. I subscribed a while back, love your honesty attentiveness knowledge and openness when watching and discussing videos. Thank you.

Love your reaction Ken, Dimash was heavily involved in the writing of this song, its a collaborative effort yet Dimash takes no credit for the lyrics or music. This is one song from his upcoming album of all Kazakh songs. Hopefully out very soon. He has other projects ongoing at the same time so they should be out soon too. One song with Flavien and Walter Afanasieff, and Igor is working one a new song with Dimash. Looking like a few new songs on the way. Can't wait 😀❤

The cinematography of this film is actually BRILLIANT-the use of shades of black and gray, the aerial photography, the selection of locations, and the symbolism. His homeland, Kazakhstan, was born from wars and strife. The golden eagle is its national bird. Now, in these days, it faces challenges once again-COVID, strife at the border. Sometimes it seems that all is lost; that the world is burning and music is dying but Dimash, who can be seen as representing his homeland, survives in the end - tempered and made stronger as the lyrics say ("Difficulties temper"). And then the closing shot: the hard stone mountain but beyond it, hills of green - a better, more beautiful future. It's just genius. And considering that it's Dimash's debut as a director...well, I don't think there's anything this man can't do.

Don't ignore the greenery in the last shot, amplifying the hopefulness presented by the major chord. Seems to me a lament for his land and the effort it has taken to keep it over the centuries. Blood is shed and fires burn to bring new life to the land.

Kazakhstan has been through many wars, and horrors.
They were under the control of Russia until 1996.
Russia would take the Kazak men to fight for them.
They were not even able to speak their own language until Russia gave them their independence.
They are now The Republic of Kazakhstan.
Dimash was born the year before their independence and his grandparents instilled in him the
love for the land and people.

Dear Mary, Thank you for your short but intense informations about Kasachstan.
I would like to make a small addition to them. The proclamation of the sovereignty from the former Soviet Union was in 1991 and not in 1996. The official independence day of the Republic Kasachstan is 16. December 1991.

This is a work of art and a genius from start to finish, from the visual content, music and the message it conveys.
Our prince Kazakh😍🤗 , always surprises us and this time from a new perspective and showing us his vision as a producer🥰 .
This video is full of symbolism, it presents us with the hard journey that the Kazakh people have had to go through through their history, all the pain and the blood shed to be the people they are today, but it also presents us with a light of hope. This can also apply to many country situations and personal trials that we may go through in our lives.
God bless the awesomeness of DQ and his entire team 🎉🤩.
