People have probably seen Valve talk about how important playtesting is for their games, and how much you can learn just by watching a player go through a map and seeing what they struggle with. Well this is exactly what they're talking about.
a couple of comments have mentioned i apparently wasn't paying enough attention to the ant lines, but yeah i agree with you, valve did an amazing job in portal 1 and 2 of explaining to the player the "rules" with out ever having to flat out shove it in the players face. Thank you for watching and for commenting too :D
You can see that the antlines differs from one state to the other depending on if your in blacklight mode or not. That's what the tutorial room was trying to show you.
watching back now i clearly didn't notice that was showing anything at the time, i think i still would of found this confusing even if i had though, as there seems to be something going on with which cube activates what in which spectrum first. Thank you for watching and for commenting too :D
Oh my god, it took me a while to figure this one out myself, as the introductionary section did not convey enough information at all. Of course the cubes and the blacklight alone is a very interesting feature. That was very easy to understand at first. But by adding additional features such as the unique behavior of the indicator lines (antlines) & the buttons having a slightly complicated relationship with both cubes and how they interact with each other should have needed extra introduction to really emphatize and highlight on how it all actually works. But on a more positive note, that was incredibly creative & very thought-provoking. One of the rare times I was actually stuck for a moment trying to figure out any sort of patterns to this puzzle. For me, that was genuinely inspirational and has given me an entirely new perspective on how to develop interesting puzzles. Kudos to Baguettery on this one!
I agree, it could of used more explanation in the first room, i could understand the whole "cubes only existing in one spectrum part" but what that actually meant across spectrums wasn't clear enough, it didn't feel like the ant lines were really enough to go on or notice if they were suggesting something or not once you jumped spectrum. I also found the thing with the order or which cube on which button first to be very confusing and i'm honestly still not entirely sure if that was actually part of it or something more like a minor glitch in source at the time. This feels like the sort of things, where if there had been more room/tests after these it two it would start to make a lot more sense, i also think this is the sort of mechanic that would work well having dialogue lines that gave context about what aperture was "doing" with this type of science. Really pleased to hear you found the map inspirational and helpful with your own works though, that's great to hear. Thank you for watching and sorry for this late reply
Yeah this was a fun gimick to play with, could do with more explanation but after further levels of it i'd probably ...possibly start to understand (maybe) Thank you for watching, glad you are still enjoying these :D
0:08 - That's not how I and others have pronounced their username, but I'll allow it 😏 11:17 - It isn't very intuitive, but _I think_ the idea is that whichever dimension's cube presses whichever button first forces that dimension's button to be the one active (buttons can have different actions in different dimensions). And so, moving the other cube to the same button doesn't change that button's state, but just keeps it regardless of dimension Great video! It was a very fancy map :)
0:08 it's not pronounced like the bread stick? 11:17 i think i get what you mean, some other comments have said i should of paid more attention to the ant lines but watching this back i'm not sure how that would of helped me at the time, it's a cool concept and i'd eventually understand it after some more levels, i get the first room was the "tutorial" for the gimmick but it could of done with more explanation, it's the sort of thing that if this was a full mod i'd expect to be introduced to us by the story which give more context to why it works. As always, all the love dude, and thank you for still watching these!
as some other comments have said, ...it's something to do with which ant lines are lit up in which spectrum, which honestly doesn't help a great deal more than which button is pressed or not :D fun concept and nice lighting though thanks for watching
@@ngeruma It doesn’t matter to me that you replied after 1 month. I’m just happy you responded at all, because most of the time I don’t expect anyone to respond especially the creator.
Depending on what spectrum you're in determines the behavior of the button when it is pushed down. That's why you only got the check marks in the normal spectrum and not in the black light spectrum
ok i think i get what you mean, watching back now i think i would of still found it confusing even with that as there seems to be something going on with which button is activated in which state first too. it's a fun gimmick though and it would be cool to see it used more, it's the sort of thing that if this was a full mod/game i would expect to the story to introduce us too, that would give more context to how and why it works this way. Yeah it was kind of confusing, with more levels with the mechanic it would make more sense eventually, still a fun concept to play with though. as always, thanks for watching dude

Decent idea but needs a lot more playtesting. The concept of multidimensional cubes is cool and interesting but the mechanics have been explained horribly Btw you should play portal revolution'

"no teenage test subjects at Aperture" Well, given the amount of cameras all around test chambers, and "Bring your _Daughter_ To Work Day" and "Bring Your _Cat_ To Work Day", but no "Bring Your _Son_ to Work Day", I'd assume there are only teenage _girl_ test subjects. Or, if there are teenage boys as well, the amount of cameras and constant supervision prevents them from doing anything nasty outside of the Aperture Science™ Coeducated Restrooms".
Wait, there's a bring your cat to work day at aperture?? and that's a good point, why no bring your son to work day? Also is that actually a thing? i've only ever seen it as a joke in things like The Simpsons. Thank you for watching and commenting too :D

explanation: putting the orange cube where the purple cube is makes the button stay pressed when you take off the purple cube.
makes sense, there seemed to be something going on with which order which cube was used on which button first too though
