In RAM trucks it can really restrict the air flow for your heater and A/C. Good practice to change it every time the engine air filter gets replaced. I’ve been pretty negligent with mine in the work truck though.
Depending on your truck, it may not even have one. One of my trucks just has a mark where you'd cut the plastic if you wanted to install one. Not surprising, after 155k miles, the air barely blows. No great way to fully clean a dirty evaporator on them, short of removing the dash.
This process is only for 2017 and later, 2016 and earlier the moron engineers thought it would be funny to permanently enclose the filter, you literally need to cut an opening in the housing
First thing I do when I get a car, is carefully remove the cabin filter and carefully throw it in the garbage, then carefully put the cover back on. A/C always blows much harder for years to come. Problem solved!
Fine job explaining it all sir thanks..
Good time to wipe out or blow out the glove box as well. It’s the little things that bring joy and comfort to the inside of a truck cab.
It’s about to get a full on detail.
Awesome instructions!!!
I got'er done!!
Glad to hear it!
My 2016 they put the door in but no filter, pre 2016 no filter but a place to add one
Dodge I'll tell ya
So the vent above it is just always exposed?
My 16 ram doesn’t have the cover just a solid peace where that should be for reason. How do I change it the way it is?
Some trucks like the tradesman and my 5500 don't have one. I don't think they're needed. Just a luxury to have clean air I guess.
Thank you so much for this Ben!
You’re very welcome.
Thank you...very useful video!
My 2015 Tradesman does not have that option
I have never done this. I wonder what mine looks like?

Yea but it also can cost you thousands of dollars to replace the HVAC system because that's what the CAF protects
