    Assalamu alaikum.
If i say, He plays as if/as though he is a professional. It means he's playing like a professional, it doesn't matter that he is or not.
If i say, He speaks as if / as though he knew about everything,(but he's not). It means he seems like that, but he isn't. Because the verb after as if or as though is in past tense

At 0:47 you were saying: "You'll find a lot of stative verbs are going to be used with 'as if' whereas like 'seems', 'feels', 'tastes', 'sounds', 'the verb be itsel'."
My question is, why did you use the word 'whereas' in that case instead of, say... 'such as', for instance.
I mean... it doesn't make any sense, no?
    Thanks.

Sir, are these situations according to real and unreal?
As if & As Though Grammar Rules
Using as if and as though in different Tenses
After as if and as though we often use a past tense with present meaning. This shows that the comparison is unreal. A present tense, on the other hand, shows that we are talking about real and possible situations.
    Examples:
She talks as if/as though she knows everything. (Perhaps she knows everything.)
She talks as if/as though she knew everything. (But she doesn’t.)
He looks as if/as though he knows the answer. (Perhaps he knows the answer.)
He looks as if/as though he knew the answer. (but he doesn’t know or we don’t know whether he knows or not)

I'm from Sri Lanka. My passion is to be perfect in knowing the English language and understanding the subtleties of its grammar. The meaning is really about the same. The verb in the second example is in the past because it's using the present conditional with the use of "if." The verb after "if" can be in the past. Look up conditional sentences. In the meantime, here's an example similar to yours: He walks around here as if he owned the place. But you could also say, "He walks around here as if he owns the place." Both forms are acceptable. It's just one of those quirky things in English.
